Ordering Lyman's 49 on Amazon today! Thanks!

Here's another question. Is the Moslin 91/30 considered "similar to" the M1 Carbine? I don't see Moslin on the the banned list, but in looking at other threads around the forum I can't help but wonder. Last thing I want is to get this thing home, take it to the range, and end up in hand cuffs.

Can anyone recommend a decent book on reloading? I am interested in learning how to do it. Wouldn't mind taking a class if it's somewhere close to South Jersey.

Even though I am a new gun owner, I'm 37 and proud to be a gun owner. I have always wanted to get into target shooting and gun collecting, but for years was way to busy with life to make time for this sport.
That being said, I am cautious as to who I talk to about my love for the guns being in my professional life most clients and co workers are on the "other side". I will however not hesitate to defend gun rights if the conversation comes up, and I will stand up for us poor NJ gun owners who have to deal with these overbearing laws and BS that we deal with because we live in NJ.

I was wondering if anyone knows if Cabelas has "day after Christmas" sales, and are they worth checking out? Me and some friends are toying with the idea of making a trip over from NJ to see if they have anything decent on clearance. Their web site does not say anything other than they are open at 7AM which is an hour earlier than their normal opening time.
That being said, if I were to purchase a rifle over there, can I bring it directly back to NJ, or does it have to transfer through a FFL? I am interested in purchasing a Moslin 91/30 and I know they have them in stock.
Thanks in advance!

If I purchased a hand gun last week, do I need to wait 31 days before I can buy a shotgun or rifle?
I've got an opportunity to go rifle shopping tonight and want to know if I am only window shopping or I can actually buy.
Thanks!

Thank you everyone for the input. Lots of information to digest. I hope to make the decision as to which way I will go in the next few days. When I do, I will be sure to post pictures of the new hardware once it arrives!

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and to the world of hand guns. I recently purchased my first pistol, a Springfield XDm .45 and have one more permit to use. Originally I wanted to make gun number two a Ruger GP100 .357 revolver with a 6" barrel, however I have been leaning towards the idea of possibly buying either a Beretta 92 .40 or Baby Desert Eagle .40. I also gave thought to the FN five seven but have been hearing that particular pistol is a bad choice due to ammo costs and many places not allowing it to be shot at their ranges.
Regardless of which way I go, I definitely want #2 to be all metal and not a plastic/metal pistol. Can anyone give me some suggestions as to which way I should go?
Thanks,
Rich

Hello Everyone,
My name is Rich and I recently purchased my first pistol, a Springfield XDm .45. Sorry I don't have any pictures to put up yet but I'll make up for it when I use my second permit in January for pistol #2!
Looking forward to making some new friends. I plan on joining South Jersey Shooting after the holidays so maybe I'll see some of you there.
NJ2AS v. NJSP update and court documents
in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
Posted
First off, WOW! I just skimmed through all 8 pages of posts on this topic! I would like to say thank you to those fighting in court for our rights.
My $.02 on this....
A SOP is standard operating procedure, and not law. It's good the judge came out and noted on record that the guide in question is an SOP. Now the tricky part as I see is usually these SOP's exist so the rank and file know how to preform a specific task, weather it be request a day off, handle a car stop, etc... They also exist so if someone files a law suit or files charges against a PD, FD, etc., the agency in question has a document that says "this is how we do _________" . If a suit is filed against the NJSP for not following procedures, I would imagine that under the rules of legal discovery, the SOP in question would have to be disclosed or subpoenaed.
Has anyone tried looking up to see if any cases exist where NJSP personnel were dismissed or disciplined for not following the SOP in question? I know these things usually end up getting sealed but you never know.
