  2. I'm looking on doing a build and was wondering if a threaded barrel on a bolt action rifle is ok in NJ. I know for semi's it's dependent on a combination of things. Is there a link for a specific law I can read that somebody know of the top their head? Thanks

  3. Hello George,

Have you picked out a smith yet for the build? That is where I would start with looking at parts. I have a few builds, two on Surgeon actions and one on a trued Remmy. All run flawlessly. I have 2 in .308 and one in 6.5x47.

What is the planned distance? If just NJ and 300 yards a .308 will do all you ever need. If you are going to stretch it out to 1000 or so then I would go the 6.5 flavor, but again a good smith will be very helpful in his advise.

PM NJBullseye on here as he is a very knowledgeable person when it comes to precision shooting.

I would also look into taking some precision shooting classes before you develop bad habits :).

    Hope this helps,

    Jimmy

I haven't picked a smith yet. I'm not looking for to far a distance in the near future but I'll probably be moving to the Carolinas in a few years. Once the kids are older I'll be taking long range hunting trips. I'm leaning towards the 6.5 because it's something different and I like the longer distance accuracy.

Wasn't sure if I should start ordering all the parts or if that's the smiths job. Do I just tell him what I want and let him have at it? Or is there's just certain parts I need a smith for cause hell, I figured a custom build should be something I put my time into.

    Thanks

    George

  5. My neighbors have gone and loved it? It's the only cruise where you don't have to see you kids all day and not worry about them. They are taken well care of and at the end of day are ready for bed so you can enjoy the night.

  6. Pretty sweet deal Burris has going on now. I've been looking to get the FastFire III but now I can get it for free with purchase of a AR-332 or AR-536 optic. I have a Vortex Strikefire II on my STAG now and was wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these two Burris optics before I make a purchase.

  7. Last time I was there it was $3/round. I think it might be a dollar or two more now. The desk will set you up with a station and you pay when your finished. Clays included and bring your own ammo.

I'd be interested in going. I have a bunch of new guns that need to be used.

  8. Well really my second but I'm not counting my Sig 1911 .22 in OD Green. Yesterday I picked up a Colt pre-series government model 1911 manufactured in 1964. Here it is with the Rosewood Grips I picked up on eBay. Very excited to be owning this piece of US History. post-4783-145504086158_thumb.jpg
