    Ar-15 lock

So, I got the Gun Vault lock from Ramsey Outdoors for $12. It works very nicely. I have two questions: 1.How good for a buffer spring is the fact that the AR is stored (gunvault requires that) with bolt carrier back and bolt catch holding it back. Isn't buffer spring going to get weak as a result? 2.GunVault hooks up to the magazine catch and leaves the magazine catch in the pressed state while the gunvault is in. (imagine pressing the magazine catch to release the magazine but then never letting the magazine catch go by keeping to hold it in the pressed state). Other than via gunvault the magazine catch never stays like this for a long time. Could this cause a damage to the magazine catch in the long term?

    Ar-15 lock

Folks, I am looking for AR-15 lock - while transporting to lock the trigger,etc... Can anyone recommend something that works for you? I was able to find only this: http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/gunvault-the-ar-magvault-and-breechvault-for-semi-auto-and-pump-shotguns/ I am surprised by the lack of locks for AR-15. Every other rifle I bought in NJ came with the lock. I actually thought that this was a requirement for manufacturers to sells firearms with some some types of trigger locks.
  3. I just picked one up. MT6400. Its great KISS rifle. Just what I wanted. I suppose everyone could guess where I will spend this week end
  4. Guys, you were right. 6700 does feel heavy indeed. I just got hold of both mt6400 and mt6700. I like MT6400 so much more. Nobody has them though... Its as though Colt stopped making them. Noone can even provide an ETA for when they will get it. Strange.
  5. How different is "nose heavy" aspect for mt6700 than what standard infantry issue is?
  6. Greetings, I am looking to buy Colt MT6700 (20" barrel with A2 stock). I know that this is what I want but I have never held it Does anyone who lives in North or Central NJ own one and would be willing for me to take a look at it? I just need to see how it feels like and how front heavy it is. I only was able to find MT6400 in stores but that is 16" barrel with a collapsible pinned stock. So I will be buying from an online seller most likely. Please let me know. I shoot at Cherry Ridge so we could meet there if this is where you shoot as well. Best regards and thanks in advance.
  7. So, I get it when people buy an adjustable stock and then pin it (because they have to) at a spot that fits them best. But what about all of these AR-15 that are sold at NJ gun stores already pinned? You don't get to pin a stock were you would like. So what's the point then?
  8. What are the benefits of pinned adjustable stock compared to a fixed stock?
  9. Thanks Nick. I will be at Mastodon sometimes on Saturday. How late will you be there?
  10. How about this? (No "nj legal" work needed) Del-ton 16" Post-Ban Flat Top Barrel Assembly $400 DTI (Del-Ton) Stripped Lower Receiver $120 AR-15 Complete Lower Parts Kit $55 AR-15 M4 CAR Post-Ban Buttstock Assembly - Black $90 Rifle Gear: Magpul PMAG 15 Round 30 Body Magazine .223/5.56mm $21 or simply this: Model M&P15 Sport™ - 10 Round Magazine, Fixed Stock $739 http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_785513_-1_757785_757784_757784_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y

  12. Thanks. I will be @Mastodon this Saturday. You got it for way less for a compatible quality parts?
  13. Ah! So you must be Nick as your handle seems to suggest Nice to meet you. How late will you be there? I think I will get to Mastodon around 3pm or so on Saturday.
  14. I called Mastodon and spoke with someone really friendly and helpful there. This Saturday right after Cherry Hill swap meet I will visit them to discsuss my Ar-15 build. On Saturday Mastadon's "AR-15 guy" will be there as I was told
  15. Ok - to make it easier I've listed the parts instead of just links and listed some of the objectives. Objective: high quality parts. Intended use: casual shooting at the range, may be hunting in NY or PA, Desire to save money on Taxes and hence ordering rather than buying at the store. Desire to split the expense of a period of time. I also would be very interested to put it together on my own as much as possible but obviously choices below are almost as though I am buying a complete rifle rather than building in on my own. Help! Brownell Part #: 100-003-220 HSA-15 CARBINE LOWER RECEIVER (High Standard) - $239.99 (Assembled lower without stock. I am also considering a stripped lower + lower parts kit) Brownell Part #: 100-005-753 AR-15/M16 DDMRv2 UPPER RECEIVER GROUP (Daniel Defense) - $967.00 Brownell Part #: 100-005-173 M4 SOCOM STOCK (Double Star) - $204.99 Brownell Part #: 100-005-510 CAR BUFFER ASSEMBLY (High Standard) - $17.99 Brownell Part #: 100-005-509 CAR RECOIL SPRING (High Standard) - $4.99 Rifle Gear: Magpul PMAG 15 Round 30 Body Magazine .223/5.56mm - $20.99
  16. Hi everyone I am looking for your opinions on the parts selection below. Hopefully I did not forget anything for a "ready to shoot" AR. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=22391/sku=100-003-220/Product/HSA-15-Lower-Receiver-w-o-Buttstock http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=41073/sku=100-005-753/Product/DDMVR2-Upper-Receiver http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=24960/sku=100-001-173/Product/M4-SOCOM-Carbine-Stock http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=24107/sku=430-000-510/Product/CAR-Buffer-Assembly http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=24106/sku=430-000-509/Product/CAR-Recoil-Spring http://www.riflegear.com/p-1376-magpul-pmag-15-round-30-body-magazine-223556mm.aspx
  17. Folks, I just joined this forum and read through a number of very educational posts. I am planning to build my own Ar-15. I've seen a number of posts that seem to indicate that a common method to make a self built AR-15 rifle NJ legal is to send it to ADCO. How does this actually work? Do you first build a complete rifle and then ship it to Adco or do you ship to ADCO just parts that need to be made NJ legal - just send a barrel and a stock? Please let me know the details of how this works. Also, why do it through a gunsmith that's not local? Isn't there a NJ based gunsmith who could do it? Or would you buy a barrel and stock from ADCO and have them make it NJ legal at once? Please let me know. Thanks.
