  1. Wish I could shoot this but I don't have a rifle. I do have a question though I was looking at the stages and saw a few make you use the rifle weak side now ism a natural righty but being blind in my right eye I shoot rifle lefty so if this is the case I am shooting everything weak side is this ok I would I have to take a peanality for not switching sides

  2. Hey welcome from another jacksonite. The police were backed up or so they say so it might take a while to get your Id. Did you apply for pistol permits also if you didn't see if you can add a few to your application they are only 2 dollars a peice and are good for 180 days ( 90 plus a 90 day extension) I would get at least two that way if you want to buy a pistol you will have the permit unstead of having to reapply for them

  3. Try before you buy - that's all I can say.

Many out there to choose from. Some may be out of your price range.

I was considering a G19 as my first handgun, then I went to a range meetup with some guys and tried out some guns - Tried Ray Ray's Beretta Px4 Storm and was hooked instantly.

Some pistols you may want to try:

    Double Action/Single Action (DA/SA):

Beretta Px4 Storm (Fullsize or Compact) ***

    Beretta 92/92A1/M9/M9A1/90-Two/etc. ***

    CZ-75b or CZ-75 SP-01

    Sig P226 (Fullsize) or P229 (Compact) ***

    Browning High-Power

    EAA Witness

    Magnum Baby Eagle

    FN FNP-9 or FNX-9

    Striker Fired:

    S&W M&P 9/9L/9 Pro ***

    Springfield xD/xDm

    Glock 17/19 ***

    Ruger SR9

    Walther PPQ

May be out of your price range:

    Any H&K

    1911 in 9mm

*** - these guns have 15 round mags available (without pinning)

Just wanted to clarify Krdshrk's post a little the glock 19 is the only one that has non pinned 15 rd mag not the 17. They way he put them togeather you might think it was both. To get 15 rd mags for the 17 you need to pin 17 rd. Its that or stick with the 10 rounders. You can find pinned 15 rd mags for a little more than the 17 rd cost stock i have seen them for around 32 dollars a mag. Just got a 17 so i have been looking into this :)

  4. I have done very little shooting this year, still have at least 10 cases of 12g shells here. Last time I went to Lehigh I bought two cases from them. I usually go through about two cases by myself there. Don't forget to hit Grumpys on the way back!

Trying to get to Lehigh next week. Sometimes we wonder if we go out there for Lehigh or for Grumpys!

    Mike what's grumpys

  5. Thanks everyone. P.S. wombat how was the work you got done. I am thinking sights and possibily a ramp polish and rethroat on the barrel I could not get my gun to feed semiwadcutters this weekend i will give them a call first and see what they suggest

  7. Just got a used gen 3 17 yesterday with 4 10 rd mags and an adjustable rear sight put about 4 mags through it and love it now I just have to get gear for it to shoot steel and uspsa

  8.

Finally got my Blade-Teck holster after 6 weeks...I have a Sig 1911 45...Would this Sunday be a good time for my first match (as a newbe)? How much Amo do I need? What time do I "register"?

    Thanks,

    -Joe

You have to be there early to get checked out on your gun handling skills. Are you comfortable drawing from your holster safely. Also if you are shooting a 1911 are you going single stack( max 8 round magazines) or limited 10. And do you have enough mags and mag pouches I use six mags for single stack. I am not sure what time registration is but be there at least a half hour before and let one of the match directors know you are a first time shooter. I know it sounds like alot but if you have the stuff you need and are safe it will be a great day and the guys you shoot with wil help you out

  9. go back and recheck that everything is tight the get a good solid rest. I wasted 20 rds of 30/06 only to have one mount screw come loose a little and screw everything up. make sure you put a dab of thread lock on the screws so the optic does not move under recoil. Also if you can maybed start out with target at 10 or 15 yards get a good solid group there before you move back. Last concetrate on a smooth trigger pull and basics if you are not being repeatable in your shots there is no way you can expect the gun to be
