  1. If you're in Somerset or Morris County you can try bringing it into Griffin & Howe in Bernardsville. http://www.griffinhowe.com/newjersey.cfm
  2. Not a problem, Lunker, I knew what you meant. I just went with 10 cases of the CCI Blazer Brass
  3. Both the CCI Blazer "Brass" and the S&B are brass FMJ - correct? It seems S&B has a little more positive reviews to it so I may go with that. Thank you
  4. I need target ammo - would you receommend CCI Blazer Brass 9mm Luger 115 gr FMJ or Sellier and Bellot 9mm Luger 115gr FMJ for that? Both are about $10/per 50 box
  5. Yes, that answers my question. Thank you for your help. I do legally own a handgun and do have a FPID that's valid and in my posession.
  6. I made an account with Natchez Shooter's Supply - http://www.natchezss.com and gave them a call inquiring about providing FPID for handgun ammo order. The man I spoke with said only Illinois is required to do that an not NJ. I know this is a popular site for NJGF members- can somebody please confirm this is true and I am in compliance with NJ law in the city of Hoboken if I order from there?
  7. Is the above ammo recommended and/or safe to use? Is it especially dirty or anything? I am looking to buy 500-1000 rounds of ammo for my Gen4 G19 for strictly plinking. Thoguhts?
  8. I ordered a Hoppe's cleaning kit that comes with a bore snake, #9 solvent, oil and some weather guard cloths. It looks like what i need for basic cleaning and maintenance. I noticed the #9 solvent in this kit comes in aerosol can while most Hoppe's 9 that I see online is just a regular bottle. --this solvent should be safe to clean all over my Glock right?
  9. So I picked up my first handgun this past Thursday evening: a Glock 19 Gen 4. It was actually hard to track down a 4th gen and took a couple days, but finally found someone who had one arriving so I waited a few days and finally ended my long wait. Went to Bullet Hole Friday and between my brother and I went through about 250+ rounds and it shot great. We used winchester 115gr white box and had zero issues. Later that day, thanks to my YouTube watching for the past coupe weeks, I was able to field strip and wipe down the gun, removing all the buildup and black crap, but haven't oiled it yet (figured it was oiled at factory and that I didn't need to re-apply before first shoot). -I didn't pickup gun oil yet, which I know is needed ASAP - so I wanted to ask the Glock guys here what oil they suggest for glocks?? -Also, bringing up what seems to be a constant topic here - What is the best and most affordable range ammo for my gun and where to buy it? I'm 99% target/range use for this gun so really just want to find a cheap, reliable, relatively clean ammo for target shooting. Any suggestions? Places with sales or free shipping? Thanks for any replies, as a new gun owner I really appreciate the advice and opinions of the more experienced guys here. Thanks!
  10. Looking for a place to go blast off new glock and .30.30 rifle this Friday with my buddy. I am aware of RTSP and BulletHole, however, would really enjoy being outdoors while shooting since it's supposed to be so nice. Are there any ranges near Hoboken, Morristown, Far Hills areas that you don't need to be a member of and are also outside?? Thanks for any suggestions!!
  11. That solves it then. I just ordered the Blackhawk Serpa CQC sportster holster. Thanks for the advice.
  12. Looking for a good Glock 19 Gen 4 compatible holster for carry on the range, in the woods, etc. Any suggestions?
  13. No I had submitted mental health form with application for past addresses. There was a point after college when I lived with my sister for 3 months and had to claim adress to renew NJ drivers license and I guess they have on the record that I lived there. So he called asking about it, I explained it was for a few months only and simply forgot. He seemed fine and just asked me to drop off an additional mental health release for that town bc different county. He called me today and said he sent it to Morris County and that's the last thing he is pending for me. Hoping Mo-county gets on that asap!!
  14. Ok, well thanks for your responses. Yes on the form I answered correctly "no" that I'm not an alocholic. Also, this was the only offense and was approx 7 full years ago so I think I will be okay. Also it happened in NJ so I assume my local PD is able to access whatever they want in regards to the DUI. I am dropping off the additional mental health form for the address I forgot about and will see where it goes from here. Currently on day 21 of my wait since initially dropping first of paperwork. Thanks again guys.
  15. 7 years ago in 2005 I had a DUI in NJ. It was an isolated incident, and besides that I literally don't even have a speeding ticket on my driving record. Also, I thought in NJ DUI was a "driving offense" and not a "crime" as described on the FPID application? Basically, the Lt. in charge of Firearms unit at my local PD called me this morning as he required another Mental Health Records search form for another address I lived at years ago for like 3 months that I had forgot about. During this convo - he mentioned the DUI and asked if this was an isolated incident, do I have a drinking problem, etc? I assured him this was isolated and was during my college years about 7 years ago and there was absolutely nothing else on my record. Could this alone be grounds for denial? I'm not downplaying the seriousness of DUI but it was 7 years ago in immature college years and the only thing on my driving record. Besides that I've never been arrested or anything. Can anyone shed some light on this please?
  16. Yeah, I mean I realize that I have had a relatively good experience thus far, but was just confused bc last week he said all he was awaiting was the employer letter (I assumed mental health had been processes already) so I wasn't sure if he was BS'ing me or something. Maybe he didn't submit MH records search until last week and that's why. I have been persistent, but very friendly and courtious - not pushy and annoying. Just asking him if there's anything I can answer or do to help him. Also, I have a Glock on hold that I really want and would hate to lose it over another week's delay!
  17. So I handed in all ppwrk on 3/6, prints done 3/10, references back 3/14 and township required 'employer reference letter' was returned 3/22. I followed up with the Lieutenant today who told me last week that all he was waiting on was employer letter. Now, today, he said he was still waiting the return of the consent for mental health records; -wouldn't he have put that in weeks ago - or at least when all references were in? -how long is the average or typical turnaround for the mental health records info? He told me it should be another 7-10 days considering that he hasn't gotten that part back. He also said it's one dept. who deals with all the mental health checks for all of Hudson county - so he "couldn't really say how long" it is going to be. Thoughts? Is this normal? Thank you!
  18. Yeah the recoil spring and the option for 3 diff grip sizes appealed to me with the Gen 4's. Beautiful and simplistic. I saw on websites options for the nightsights and i've seen them before - can any gun shop install those for me, do I have to leave it there, avg price? Thx
  19. Sig's are great guns. Just reserved a Glock 19 Gen 4 for a pickup hopefully this week (waiting on permits, but think any day this week according to the LT). My good friends and uncle each have a couple Sigs and Glocks in b/w them- so I have had good experiences with both. This is my first handgun purchase, although I have a lot of shooting experience throughout my life. Figured this cal and price point was appropriate for my first, however, if I had another 500 burning a hole in my pocket I prob would have gone with a Sig. Anyone have anything helpful, good experience, tips for a new G19 Gen 4? Always like and respect others' opinions. Thanks!
  20. Yep. Done a lot of shooting, but this is my first handgun for myself. Went all the way to Cabela's and they were busy and not very friendly/helpful in addition to not having any G19's. Also tried Lou's in Raritan and several other places in proximity to North Jersey - all out and said how they're scarce right now. So basically you and the forum hooked me up big time! Haha. Purchased a "Stack-On" electronic security case from Cabela's, which looks like it will suit my home storage and travel case needs. As for my new Glock 19 Gen 4 - do you or anyone else have any tips, experiences to share, or anything that I should know? Would love to hear people's thoughts and opinions. Thanks!
  21. Im looking to purchase a Glock 19 Gen 4. I live in Hoboken but willling to travel if reasonable distance. Anyone have in stock?
  22. Guys- just caught up on your thread. I am in an almost identical situation with FPID and a p2p. I dropped paperwork on 3/6, fingerprinted 3/10 references back 3/14 and on 3/21 the last letter, a "employer reference" letter that HPD requires was returned. I had followed up several times probably once for prints, once for references, once for employer. Prob called 4 times since submission. Last we spoke he said once he had employer letter that would be all required. No word as of today 3/23 Friday... He was not in today! Concerned about "getting thrown to the bottom of the list" too but I've made sure to be polite and courteous each time. I hope being respectful and persistent will help ensure I get by next week. Fingers crossed- hate the wait! Going to browse some again tomorrow, however I think I've decided on Glock 19 Gen 4. Other options include XD 9mm or Sig Pro 2022 9mm. Keep us posted how you guys pan out. Good luck!
