  1. So I would assume I have no criminal record.

Ok sorry, 1 more post before I unfollow this thread then I promise Im done. To the OP, you "assume" you have no criminal record. Well this might be the problem right here, how do you not know for a fact that you do or dont have a criminal record? I know positively without any doubt, that I have no criminal history. You were either arrested and convicted of something that would prohibit you from owning a fire arm, or you werent, its pretty simple really.

Like I said, there is more to this story than we are being told.

    Jules Out.......

  2. I understand following orders and if your chain of command involves politicians it must suck; but when your talking about an illegal order or an extra-legal requirement you have the right and a duty to disregard and not to enforce that requirement.

But how is it breaking the law if the city requires one extra piece of redundant paperwork to be filled out ? Did you ever think that in this day and age we live in with terrorism and identity theft, they want to be extra positive who they are issuing the FID card and permit to? I personally dont see the big deal about filling out one extra piece of paperwork to get the permit, and would have just done it. But apparently the conspiracy theorists out there equate every little thing to the government trying to control them and eventually leading up to implanting micro chips up your rectal cavities.

I love how most of you run around quoting the constitution protecting Americans right to bear arms and how the State is infringing upon that right, but in the same breath have no problem with the State denying people who are "prohibited persons". There is a long standing provision in the US constitution that allows the exclusion of certain individuals from bearing arms so therefore it does not cover all Americans. How come you guys dont view the act of denying a convicted felon a fire arm as unconstitutional, how come you guys aren't up in arms pounding the drum on that one?

Because it does not affect you, thats why.

Im done with this topic, there are a few of you who simply dont like me or my opinion due to my profession so anything I say is basically moot. Apparently you have the right to have an opinion on this forum, as long as it conforms with yours right?

  3. It doesn't, but Jules is a cop and wants to deflect attention from those like in his profession that violate the laws they swore to uphold. He can't be reasoned with, so he avoids, deflects, makes quips and insults others.

Or could it be he speaks from experience and insider knowledge that your not privileged to? no..no...that couldnt be it..Not at all cause I have an "elitist agenda" right?

  4. Now on this, I respectfully disagree...I think everyone should have access to Class Three. I think the GCA is BS, much less the BS that is the NJ AWB, and am not personally a fan of open carry. I fully support an individual's right to concealed carry, and would love to see the law changed to reflect that. The Second is not about hunting, and to a lesser extent, not just about personal defense. It has much broader and much more important purposes...

So you feel there is not line to draw on what type of weapons a civilian can own? So if your neighbor set up an intercontinental ballistic missile on their front lawn, you would be cool with that? Jokes aside, I personally think there has to be a line drawn somewhere.

  5. The politicians do not run the police departments in any way. That is a total cop out. (Get it)

justjules you have made so many posts blaming everyone but yourself.

To be the enforcer of illegal or immoral rules or laws is much worse than to be the drafter of those laws.

You don't get off by saying your just doing what your told.

I give up...think what you want, do it your way..Your right Im wrong..Have a nice day sir.

  6. ok. when you have a criminal that gets his gun in Camden on the street how do you know? HE is the one you need to be worried or concerned about. His gun will not show up in any registry. This process we are talking about does not affect him. You do NOT have to worry about me, the law abiding citizen. It is a simple fact. You or any other cop has never been attacked or endangered by a "law abiding citizen". Most people on the antigun side are dillusional about what their rules are creating. ALl the others are just idealogues.

Right, so if i have to worry about the criminals, why would i want to have to worry about everyone else around me carrying a gun too? And FYI I have been attacked by people who were law abiding citizens who got drunk or mad at their wife or had a bad day. but thats a different discussion and i dont feel like getting into it right now.I have my opinions and you can have yours.

BTW how do you think the criminals get their guns? Either stolen or purchased legally in states that have zero laws about buying weapons, then they bring them up here to NJ. There is no shortage of them.

  7. I thought this discussion was about the OP's situation and not the entire state and it's history. The laws are what they are. The PD is making up their own rules. Photos, credit checks, employer references, notarized reference letters, etc. Where does it end?

You're assuming the PD is. Im telling you the likely scenario from an insiders point of view, but you choose to ignore it. The politicians run the police departments when it all comes down to it.

A Government issued photo ID should be the ONLY required document when acquiring a firearm. The permit process is a waste of time and man hours for everyone when a simple NICS check does everything and more, than a PD can do. Ask Sgt. Mundorf of the NJSP Firearms Unit. That was straight from his lips.

I agree with you on this,it is a big waste of everyone's time. Do a little research and find out which politician of campaign contribution owns Morphius the company that is contracted to do the prints via live scan.

  8. Jules, how do you feel about gun registries?

I happen to feel that no LEA should ever be able to look in their files and see that I, a law abiding citizen, own a handgun.

I also feel that my right to bear arms should not be inringed. All this stuff we are talking about is infringing on my rights. I will never accept even what you consider a little thing if it goes in the direction of infringing on my rights. Don't you agree with me?

Not entirely...Me being a cop, I want to know if the person I have to deal with has the potential to end my life if they choose to do so. Rights being infringed I agree, but there are different levels of interpretation of "bearing arms". Should a civilian be able to own a grenade or rocket launcher under the right to bear arms? Absolutely not IMO. Should a civilian be allowed to have a flash suppressor or bayonete lug? sure, why not..

Should concealed carry be allowed in NJ? I personally want to know if someone has a gun on them or not, so if a carry provision was introduced, it should be an exposed carry provision.

  9. I agree with what you said about 95%. The only mistake was when you said "Blame it on the politicians they created the rules, the PD's just follow them." This whole thread is about the PD not following the rules. I do agree that the politicians carry most of the blame.

Im trying to tell you from an insiders point of view, the PD most likely would not

    1) take it upon themselves to create extra paperwork for themselves

    2) do so without the approval of the city law department (city lawyers or city council)

  10. What rule did the politicians create that says the OP can only have one permit? What rule says they can require more forms than the LAW says is needed? What I see here is a PD making up their own rules.

Who created The NEED for an individual permit for each handgun,1 gun a month rule, assault weapons ban and the Evil features? The local PD's have that much power? Most likely someone from the city law department required the additional paperwork to be processed at the request of the Mayor or city council. Besides, what is the big deal about a photo to coincide with the person filing the permit? I think your photo should be on your FID card instead of your fingerprint anyhow, cause the FFL dealers ask for a photo ID like your DL also. (you guys gonna complain about that too?)

  11. Yup, we tried to tell you...............That barrel shroud is useless and the vertical grip is worth having.

A red dot really helps to get back on taget when transitioning from one to the next, if you use it for competitions.

Yes, the sights are very small, so a red dot will be on the shopping list as well as the 15 round mags.

  12. No money = no lawyer = no lawsuit = forced to accept the 9 or 20 week wait cause by fools and criminals that pretend to represent us.

Blame it on the politicians they created the rules, the PD's just follow them. If 10,000 people apply for permits in Patterson and there is 1 or 2 detectives assigned to the unit that processes them, you do the math. The whole system is too overwhelming to the individual departments who really don't even want to deal with this crap anymore..

  13. Well we can beat this horse to death over and over. I concede that for him alone the better path would be to just bend over for the criminal PD in this case and get his gun. I have to say: This is not the way this country is supposed to be. The PD are just as guilty as a HR manager that doesn't hire minorities because he doesn't like them, of the guy that fires his secratary because she won't service him. They are Breaking the law and there is no argument about that. This sometime HAS to stop. It pisses me off and I just cant believe there is no recourse for us lowly folks that just want to excersize our rights.

    I'm done.

Perhaps a well put together letter to the President of the United States informing him of constitutional violations would get some results.. :D

  14. Specopscout, you missed my point. You said "get yours, then get payback." What is his payback after he gets his? NOTHING! The PD gets to totally control the situation on its terms and sure, he may get his permit after some time if he capitulates, but there is NO payback.

Well whats his payback now doing it his way? You pick and choose your battles and battlefields, During the application process was not the time to fight the fight. Now the PD STILL has total control of the situation so what did the OP achieve besides ensuring he either will never get a FID card or will wait a long time to get it?

  15. I got to shoot the Beretta today at FT Dix, and the gun is very accurate. However I see what everyone means about the trigger, it absolutely sucks. It feel like it pulls forever then the last 1/8" of an inch fires the weapon, way too much play.

These are small 18" tall targets all at 25 yards. I was also able to hit water bottles out 50 yards without a problem.

I also received the barrel shroud and dont like it, Im sending it back.It is very heavy and does not go all the way down the barrel and makes the gun too long. However the gun does need a front vertical grip IMHO it tends to jump upward on the nose with the 45 caliber recoil.

  16. OK, I can get down with that. As an officer of the law how would you actually propose that be done? Should we get our permits and then call the chief once a week and demand that the process be changed? Write our state politicians?

Seriously Jules, how should we do that?

Perhaps call your local assemblyman, state senator, county prosecutors office, city mayor or cityl legal department via your own attorney advising them the citiy is violating people rights and lodge formal complaints. Contact the NRA or other organizations that you guys deal with regularly on such matters and lodge a complaint. last resort, file a massive class action lawsuit against Patterson PD for violating your rights...But doesnt it make more sense to comply with what they asked, this way down the road you can say "see I did every thing they told me to do and they are violating people rights". It just makes more sense to me to play their game and get what you want (same thing politicians do.) But arguing with some poor detective who is simply doing the job he was assigned to do with the rules he was told to follow is not getting you anywhere.

Think about it, this detective had to go to the Chief for final approval and the Chief probably asked where the form was, and the detective then informed the chief how the guy refused to fill out the form...And we see the end result of that...

I can also assure you the Patterson legal department most likely will not want any more lawsuits than they already have and most likely a letter from an attorneys office advising them of the intent to sue on the issue would be enough to eliminate the form..

Sometimes there are easier and less stressful ways to fight the fight and get the same results.

  17. ...

Ok, say a law abiding gun owner wannabe does what is asked. He bends over for the PD, fills out all the extra forms, submits to all cavity searches and finally after 12 or 20 weeks he gets his permits... Are you now proposing that he can sue? what are his damages?

How about standing up for the rest of legal gun owners and stopping the process from affecting future gun owners..All the OP is going to do now, is waste a bunch of his own time on appeals and get HIS permit eventually.Still does not change the way that PD is doing business. If you guys are so self righteous and care about EVERYONE's rights, then why dont you guys make an issue out of this to the point Patterson PD eliminates that form?

  18. Barely related, but if you've got a bank account, you've got access to a Notary. Mine has never charged me to have something notarized...

    PS

I agree with Jules. He didn't say, "take it on the chin." He said, "get yours, then get payback." Reading is fundamental....

Thank you, someone who does not selectively read. I work for a PD, I know how things work, and I know how to fight back and fight dirty at that. In fact one of our own guys applied for a new handgun permit, but he pissed off the fellow cop that does the paperwork, so guess what? His application got put on the back burner. He will get it eventually, but he is gonna have to wait till the cop that does them feels like giving to him.

  19. Sorry Jules, but you just Don't understand the argument.

No I completely understand the argument. BUT you can make your argument while you possess you FID card, or make your argument while NOT having an FID card..I know which one I would choose. You guys are really thickheaded on the matter and it almost seems as if most of you like stirring up a battle that does not need to be fought at that moment..I really dont know what the big deal would have been to just fill out the form, get your toys, then go after the PD for not following the laws.

But you know what, do it your way, it works better..LOL one less lawful gun owner on the streets, good job guys!
