    From 3 yards to 15 yards.

    I just put my empty magazine on the table in front of me.  IMO dropping to the floor or putting in a mag holder is not practical/necessary.

    Did my re-qual yesterday, perfect score, lol, not much a an accomplishment, easiest thing I ever shot, big fat target, all the time you want. They went by the book and according to the AG's rules...Really a total waste of time to have to do it again, the shoot I did there last year was much more challenging, timed fast and furious. But is good and thanks to Dan and ANJRPC we have a qual that we can pass well into our 80's lol.

    Yep, shooters was great, nice people, turn-key process, no attitude. And they did a great by given the re-qual free as they did mention it was on "them" that we got hit for no holster draws last year. So it was waste of 50 Rounds, an hour and a half including travel, and some gas money, NJ should have just let the holster part go till next renewal.

    Yup.

    You have 5 rounds in each mag, so there's a reload at each distance. When you're done with your 10 you reload and wait for everyone else to be done.

    Do they start the qual shooting at 15 yards or at 3 yards?

    Also, since there is no time limit, is it OK to place my empty mag (after 5 rounds are shot) either in my pocket (or empty mag holder slot) rather then let it drop on the hard floor?

    About 10 at a time.

    VERY well done. It's almost like an assembly line.  You get a briefing in the classroom about the course of fire and how guns will be handled, then you go in and shoot.

    When you're done shooting there's already  another group sitting in the classroom behind you, briefed and waiting to go shoot.

    One guy in my squad didn't pass, so this is not just an administrative exercise.  You have to demonstrate safe handling and hit 40 out of 50.

    This is a fantastic response by Shooters.

    Hi, how many magazines are required for the re-qual? And is time given to reload the magazines (i.e., stuffing rounds in the magazines) between stages (the various distances)?

    Dajonga disclaimer... I work at Shooters.

    Dajonga's summary of the big takeaways here...

    - Don't be mean to us. We know this sucks. We know it is BS. We know the AG and Murphy suck, but we don't want to hear it every single time we take a call. Please, no profanity. We do not like this any more than you do.... We like it less, in fact. This creates more work for us. Be patient, be kind. Be a jerk to us and you will likely be asked to take your business elsewhere.

    - Please do not call the store to ask questions about what is clearly stated above.... Our phones ring off the hook already. If every one of the nearly 4000 people who have qualified with us calls, it will be chaos.

    - Only call the shop to schedule your qual. Clearly state that you are scheduling for a re-qualification or an initial qualification

    - If you can prove you took your qualification with Shooters, you get to reshoot for free. NO EXCEPTIONS! As a serious gun owner in NJ who is accustomed to all of the insane paperwork needed to own guns in NJ, if you failed to keep a copy of your qual and/or your receipt, you have made a mistake. Be a grownup, admit you made a mistake & learn from it. Yes, we have a copy of your Qual in our records. No, we will not go up to the offices looking through thousands of pages of paperwork to provide a copy for you.

    - You will need a holster.

    - You will shoot 50 rounds.. 10 rounds each at 3, 5, 7, 10 & 15 yards in 5 round strings. There are no time restrictions

    - The requal is shooting only and will only take 20 minutes or so.

    - If you are shooting the qual for the first time or have lost your paperwork and need to take the whole thing again, the price for the classroom and shooting has increased from $90 to $120.

    I would think most folks who didn't keep a copy of their Shooters Qual can get it from their PD. My PD had us give them a copy of it.

    Was this a proactive email Shooters sent out, or in response to you contacting them? I did my qualification there also and have not heard anything from them.

    Same question I have, I did mine at Shooters also, also Dave C. was is the Qual Officer. I did not get an e-mail (yet), so it would be great if GRIMA would let us know either way on the above question?

    Appreciation in advance,

    -Joe

  6. The new (intereum) qual for us Non-Leos is obviously unconstitutional and total BS. I am not applying to be a State Trooper or FBI agent, nor do I have the same use of force rules or legal protections they do...All this new qual is going to do is prevent law abiding citizens from getting their carry permits - shame on the NJ State troopers they just cut and pasted what was out there in the Professional Law Enforcement community without giving any critical thought to the it....FWIW, I already sent an e-mail to ANJRPC and Dan Schmutter asking that they fight it. Everyone should do the same, they need to hear from us on ths one...

    Hate to admit how deflating this whole experience has been.

    Finally removed justifiable need, only for the state to trip over themselves in a mad dash to pass legislation to treat the most law abiding citizens this state has as criminals.

    If they pass this new legislation, there will undoubtedly be more criminals in short time due to the hoops of fire we have to jump through when carrying a firearm WITH A PERMIT TO CARRY.

    I simply cannot understand where their logic is in rushing to pass laws to literally strip our rights to protect ourselves, especially after the highest court in the land deemed exactly what they are doing as unconstitutional.

    The proposed legislation vs. justifiable need is 6 in one hand and half a dozen in the other, with the former more suited to ruin your life.

    I try to refrain from being so dramatic, but with this in play, I truly hate this state and the politicians running it.

    Apologies for the rant, just sharing my experience thus far.

    I understand your frustration...But always start from the assumption that their motivation has absolutely nothing to do with logic. Then you will know their "purpose".

    Honestly, haven't we bombarded them polite emails in the past with no reasonable outcome? I feel like were wasting our time, they will pass this bill, and we will have to litigate afterwards...

    No, sometimes we win some things even if it just a little. For example last time they wanted to pass a law requiring you to keep your guns and ammo separated in your House! And not load your gun until a killer was breaking in...It was not passed.

    It takes you just a few minuets, that is a tiny ask of us to send a few e-mails...

    Litigation will follow, but we can't afford to be complacent, ANJRPC ask very little of us really.

    We made the "Big Time" lol...The NRA-ILA is also asking us to contact people, they have an automated tool which writes an e-mail for us and sends it, might as well do it it is fast and the more we bombard them the better...Don't forget ANJRPC's ask too.

  10.   Please Keep Contacting  Legislators!
    October 14, 2022. On Monday, October 17 at 10:00 a.m., the New Jerey Assembly Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider A4769 – legislation designed to do an end-run around the U.S. Supreme Court’s ground-breaking Bruen decision and destroy right to carry in the Garden State, among many other things.

    Listen to the hearing by clicking here at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 17. Find Assembly Judiciary Committee and click to listen.

    Among many other things, this legislation would impermissibly:

    -Ban carry in common public places by labeling them as “sensitive places.” Includes parks, beaches, restaurants, theaters, stadiums, arenas, and many other common public places.;

    -Ban carry inside one’s own car;

    -Bans carry at public gatherings;

    -Ban carry on all private property automatically, unless the property owner specifically posts notices specifically allowing it;

    -Significantly increase fees for purchaser credentials and carry permits, discriminating against low-income citizens;

    -Mandate liability insurance (which may not even be available) as a pre-condition to exercising carry rights;

    -Mandate a new training requirement beyond the already-difficult one that has existed for many decades;

    -Allow towns and cities to invent their own unique and inconsistent rules banning carry;

    -Limit carry to holster-only, with retention strap (no purses, fanny packs, briefcases, standard holsters without strap, or other recognized modes of on-body or off-body carry);

    -Use prior speech (like online posts) as a basis to deny purchase and carry credentials;

    -Allow denial of credentials based on purely subjective factors like someone’s “character” or “temperament.”

    PLEASE IMMEDIATELY CLICK HERE TO CONTACT EVERY NJ LEGISLATOR. Tell them to PLEASE VOTE NO ON A4769 /S3214 ATTACKING RIGHT TO CARRY IN VIOLATION OF THE U.S. SUPREME COURT’S BRUEN DECISION. THE SUPREME COURT HAS SPOKEN, AND RIGHT TO CARRY MAY NO LONGER BE DISRUPTED OR INFRINGED BY STATE LEGISLATURES OR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. ALSO, MICRO-MANAGING METHODS OF CARRY, AND DENYING PERMITS BASED ON PRIOR SPEECH AND “CHARACTER,” ARE ILL-CONCEIVED AND UNLAWFUL.

    Maybe we're getting closer to the real answer for Ocean County:

    May be an image of text that says '2:22 3 Messages KF Kim Marie Farruggia To: Dylar 2:14PM RE: CCW Application iDylan, well and am looking ward to the weekend! The judge hasn been replaced. to handl the approva process handles denials hey added another Judge judge Hope thi infor mation helps. Have Kim great weekend! See More'

    Interesting process --- is there a 3rd Judge who looks at ALL the applications  and decides which to funnel to the "approver" and which to "funnel" to the denier - lol. Or maybe the clerks do that - lol...And if the PD-Chiefs already sign-off on these applications, what basis are they using for denial anyway.

    Add-On: This may imply that there are more denials than one may think, if taking denials out of the total package makes it materially easier for the "Approval" judge.

  12. Gentlemen, although I enjoy discussing carry ammo, I hardly think that is the point of this thread. We have already had several complaints about off-topic discussions making it hard for people just coming on to follow the pertinent information of the intent of this thread, as well as the Moderator weighing in as such....Usually I am  not a party pooper :-) in this regard but with a 103 "pages" and no end in sight I think it makes sense on this thread especially.

    You can always start a "Carry-Ammo-in-NJ" thread right "next door" which I think many will be interested in including myself.

    my kids mother filed for a RO and child support in 08' and it was granted, then she filed a motion for both to be dismissed 2yrs later 10'..Anthony from GFH on his podcast said any kind of DV is subject for denial since judges can use "public safety" even though I'm currently a FID holder and had an expungement in 16' it raises my concern.

    Yea I listened to that podcast too...Anthony leans to the exaggeration side a little...I guess the question he needed to answer for folks who might follow his advise, if you were to withdraw, what is going to change in the future to give an all clear for you to resubmit? Yea, if NJ was to remove the "judge" step that would work, but I don't see that happening for a long time, or maybe never in NJ (as much as I believe it should).

    Just wanted to give update regarding Ocean County permits.

    According to FB group Ocean County CCW, at least 2 more individuals received their permit this week, both have the court order attached with the 12 restrictions. Also saw someone from Westfield (I know, not OC) claiming to have received their permit this week with no restrictions or court order other than being told he can only carry the guns he qualified.

    Some other info from Ocean County, one gentleman says he spoke with Ms Kimberly Nye at OCSC and was given his GP number which was #500 (actual gp number is GP-OCN-500-22), meaning the county has received  500+ PTC apps so far for 2022, and he claims she told him they are working on app #100, so he can expect his permit in 6 to 8 weeks as they work through the list.

    I was just thinking about how this Ocean county judge appears to be discriminating against the entire county, saying they cannot receive the same permit as someone from bergen, or Warren County. She is also attaching this order with no court hearing.

    If there are limitations placed on your PTC, is the judge not required to give justification as to why your permit must be issued differently than the next county's permit. I understand the statute allowing discretion to place limitations, but I could have sworn the judge had to explain to the applicant why these limitations are being placed on them.

    I am aware strikeforce is on it, and CNJFO, and nappen.... but after receiving your Ocean county permit with the attached court order, couldn't you make a request to be seen by the judge to be given clarification for you limitations? Wouldn't the judge have to explain why you as an Ocean county resident must be treated differently than a Warren County resident?

    Just trying to think outside the box a bit here. My thoughts are they aren't requiring a hearing because they don't want to allow the order to be questioned, on record, by the applicant.

    All in all, I'd expect the judges answer of "because I say so, I have the legal discretion, and public health and safety"... but for that to be on record could be very helpful.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks for reading my short novel btw.

    Good information Lucky...On your idea, I personally wouldn't ask for a hearing, unfortunately, I don't think you questioning the judge has any upside (only possible downside)...Napen's associate told me last week that a Law Suit is in progress but it takes time to escalate it up the system. I can't imagine any individual at their personal hearing (even if they have a lawyer present) will do better than the Law suite to get this injustice rectified...

    Your idea is a "noble" one, but imo, not a good risk reward situation for you...Of course if you decide to do it you will have our hopes and prayers with you, FWIW.

    Yea its a head scratcher... cause judges can literally do what they want since they have overall power and can still deny you off "public safety" In Bergen County a judge denied a FID holder a PTC because of a careless driving ticket. IDK if you guys been hearing the stories coming out across the state on the court level. I can't imagine having a denial then the motion to cease my firearms (thousands ontop of thousands of dollars worth) then having to hire an attorney for 3-5k cause lawshield doesn't cover it and having to fight in court for over a year. Just cause they CAN at the flick of a wrist and pen, when it costs me time and money.

    What kind of DV incident did you have which you are so concerned with? Where you convicted of something, charge initially then the charge were dropped, or just a formal complaint with no charges?

    • Thanks 1

  16. Some of their attorneys (like Napan) are also on retainer to ANJRPC...I am not sure if they are being retained by LawShield to fight the carry issues we are dealing with or any crazy gun laws we deal with in NJ. Alternative l am (sure) they are retained by ANJRPC to fight the carry issues.

    As others stated, LawShield cover SD events and equipment issues. I do not think they have a mission to correct bad carry laws explicit to NJ. As such, Napen wears two hates one for LS and one for ANJRPC. Of course there are synergies here which he can leverage.

    ANJRPC is the best proponent we have here, not the NRA, and not LS, imo. Although I am a member of all 3, all my add--on donations go to ANJRPC - they are vital to our survival long-term as gun owners in NJ.

    Still I joined LS a few weeks ago (in essence they are on "retainer" to their members for SD/equipment charges), I reasoned, for 130$ a year I think it is foolish not to.
