  1. I'm not just gone, I'm watching the clock click down till retirement. Navy stationed me here & I am not a city boy in any way, so down to Tx or FL (I have family there). I've lived all over this nation I thought Ca was a pain with it's bleeding heart libs but wow. No thanks ... it is really less about the gun laws and more about the gap in classes here, there is no middle ground and the cost of living just keeps climbing which pushes out the middle class.

  2. I thought I had added an update to my own post not make a second thread... but for those of you who have been watching.... here is the update.

I'm going to chose my words carefully... but THEY LOST ALL OF MY PAPER WORK!

All of my paper work was missing from the Lakehurst PD thankfully I had copies of everything.

The officer was polite and professional and stated he would take care of this issue personally.

I was also instructed to provide my supervisors address so that the PD could send a letter of "verification of employment" as he was holding my Military ID card? as I stood there on lunch taking care of this issue. (Rather odd, but hell being military I've been asked/told to do things & have learned to say YES with a big smile.)

When I asked why he needed my supervisors address I was told it was standard issue, the officer was never rude or blunt just simply stated it as matter of fact.

I want to make it clear I am not frustrated or disappointed with the PD or the officers, I am frustrated that the system has become so broken that no one can clearly understand the requirements.

So the clock resets and restarts.........

  4. I am in your exact shoes brother! Actualyl I am in lakehurst as well and also i turned mine in in February.  The difference is I grew up in Lakehurst, I am military and current law enforcement.  I personally know the chief and several of the officers and still dont have mine.  The ex mayor was one of my references!! My family is fairly known in that town and I still can't get anything done!  I am going to send you a private message with some questions!

Thanks for the info off line & for those who asked yes Lakehurst, I didn't get a good vibe when I dropped off my info & provided my military ID. I'm starting to get the idea the local PD may not like military?????

NJ2as.org will be my next step, I can be as Patience as the next guy as long as I know I'm not being discriminated against for being military.

I've been crazy busy this week but next week I'll start poking around & seeing what sort of response I get?

I use to think Cal was bad but this... this is just something else.

I can not even fathom how a state can get to this degree of just destroying the 2nd Amendment. Texas & FL are looking a lot better for retirement.

  5. As I sit here I will first tell you that relocating from the west to the east coast & understanding NJ gun laws is enough to drive a person insane. I have followed each step, finger print, NJ FID permit request and even paid my money too. I am seriously wondering what did I pay for?! I turned my paper work FEB 17th 2013 and yet no follow up at all.

I have debated on weather to call out the PD for the township given we are so small but I have called only once and that was last month simply wanting to know if there was a delay and if there was anything I can do to help. (super sweet nice guy voice)  I can understand a delay given all the issues with the NJ gun system. The impact the storm had I am sure is not something that is going to be fixed over night.

I have asked my references if they were contacted and both said yes. I even asked my boss (btw I'm in the Navy so that was lots of fun) if he had seen anything.

I do not want to tick off the officer but this is unreal I maintain a freaking clearance and have been active duty for over 17 years!? I have no idea what steps I should take to press the issue without it blowing up in my face. Most the posts I have searched here have never had a good time pressing the issue, so if someone could please help me with some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

I dropped off paper work on the 17th of Feb finger prints were end of 1st week of March, we are now almost 90+ days?! What should be my next course of action???

  6. I dropped off my paper work & will be doing my finger prints shortly (already have my appointment) the officer mad a comment that response from the employer is what is taking the longest. I didn't argue the issue simply smiled and went on my way. The odd part is I am military so gave my direct supervisor point of contact information. Though just like you I can not find "law" that requires for my bosses yes or no but only for to be for "employment verification". I'll see how this goes as time moves on.

  7. I guarantee that they propose obscene dollar amounts for the FID cards and Pistol permits to try and deter someone from bothering. That one about locking and having an unloaded weapon in your OWN HOME is fuggin ridiculous. All of these bills are ridiculous.

I'll be there on the 8th and will continue to email/write, but thankfully I will be out of this POS state and in SC for good this summer.

It is funny that you say SC, my wife likes NJ and how close everything is but last night she asked what I thought about living in SC where she could shoot more often. Range fees alone here are crazy let alone all the gun laws currently on the books.

  8. This whole issue will be fought in the courts and not in emails to Menendez and Lautenmummy. They don't care what you think!

Oh I was never under a false pretense of what they really think, but with the click of a mouse button I was able to send a very short but clear email. The Dem's have developed and streamlined data collection, enough data to swing a choice & they will bite. Because no matter what the white house wants, local gov't still has to live day to day with their choices.

  9. It is funny , I has anyone else noticed the "how are we going to enforce these new laws??" comments from local police and troopers in recent media interviews. There is barely enough funding to get things done at the moment, what happens next is Mr Police man going to come knock on my door to check if firearm XYZ is locked and unloaded?

  10. For those of you who might be curious as to what sort of reply you can look forward to reading from Senator Menednez.

    Dear Mr. XXXXX

Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to a ban on assault weapons. Your opinion is very important to me, and I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you on this issue.

As your Senator, I strongly defend the rights of citizens to use firearms responsibly for recreationalpurposes or protection of one's family and home. At the same time, I vigorously support efforts to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and gangs that wish to use them against society.

The Federal Assault Weapons Ban expired on September 13, 2004. On this, as with any issue, there are many different views. I appreciate you taking the time to express your opinion on this important issue. Please be assured that I will keep your views in mind.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of further assistance. I invite you to visit my website (http://menendez.senate.gov) to learn more about my work in the United States Senate.

  11. I thought anyone would like to see the sort of reply you will get from the 4th district.

  12. guys if anyone is near Monroe township I just found a pretty sweet FFL rate. I found his info on gunbrokers find FFL and it says $30 + NICS but I just called him yesterday and he said $25 + NICS. Either is a good deal since most want to charge nearly double that for a transfer. Here's his info, he is a very nice guy and runs his business out of his house, so he is by appointment only.

+1 on this, I just got off the phone with him, Call him you will not be disappointed!

  13. So I made a post awhile back about being stationed in Nj, coming from Cal. Oddly Nj's gun laws seem to be very lose on details. With the amount of new weapons coming out (IE Kel-Tec KSG) there seems to be no law or the ability for Nj's laws to be applied loosely to the weapon.

Can someone please explain to me how Nj ended up with such crazy gun laws??? There has to be a root cause to this? At least in Cal (btw still hate the gun laws here) I can point at the North Hollywood shootout as the reason for the piss-poor gun laws here.

  14. Screw it, I'll leave everything with my father-in-law till I have time to get everything squared away. To many catch-all's and rather not put my career at risk.

Just buying ammo seems to be labor intensive.. a card just to buy ammo? Firearms Identification card, which is not being issued in a timely manner?

Is Nj big brother so scared of the second amendment that we must be tagged like sheep? Sorry for the small rant but after five years in Cal, I didn't things could get more crazy.... ugh.

  15. I did a intro & was told this part of the forum would be the best place to post my questions, my current concern is that I would like to be able to transport

    CZ-75's,

    mossberg 500 cruiser

M14 w/bi-pod, scope, JAE-100 GEN 3 Precision Rifle Stock (Not sure about this one given the M1 is no-go on the Nj list and the stock)

with me into the state. I am a resident of Washington state, I have a few rifles with "bullet buttons" ( I would love to lose the bullet buttons). I can leave them with my father-in-law if they are going to be a issue.I am currently stationed in Cal and the gun laws here are just as odd there. Once I get a grasp of the thinking out there I'll be better off

Could someone please school me up on what a non-resident would need?

I have a few other questions as to what is simply legal in Nj but the laws seem to be very grey. IE: if its this name it is illegal, but if its not that name but built to operate as said name its still illegal....?

Thanks for any help & yes I'll have a lot more questions I am sure.

  16. Sure more than willing to post up a list of what I would like to bring in most importantly would be my CZ75's though looks like I'll need to keep the 10 round mags? Where in the forum would be a good place to post my list of what I want to bring? Plus I'm actually a resident (home of record of Washington)

    Thanks.

Short Version: Anything you have that is California Legal is *probably* good-to-go here, unless you have an AR pistol, a Tec-9 or something like those.

You can't have over 15 rounds in a magazine, but California restricts you to 10, so you should be good on handguns.

Once you get here, you are going to need to get a Firearms ID card in order to purchase ammunition or more firearms. I'm not quite sure how you would do that if you live on post (perhaps go though the state police). If you are living off post, you apply for your card in the town where you live.

If you could give us a list of firearms that you plan to bring, we could help you out with what is legal and what is not.

  17. So I have been cut a set of orders that will have be stationed in New Jersey, (lakehurst area) and after 5 years of being stationed in Cal I didn't think the gun laws could become even more confusing. Though here I am (thank you all for this site tons of info). I am very confused on what is and is not allowed. When I move I'll have the chance to stop off at my Father-in-laws who has a FFL and a few of my non-cal guns. At the moment, I simply would like to ensure I am able to bring in a few of my hand guns but can't seem to find a clear answer.

My intro, background active duty military loves to shoot & bow hunt, but starting to become more curious of the civilian defense fire arm now that I'm a family man.

I'm sure I'll have more questions but will post them else where in the site.

Thankfully there are sites like this one to help.
