With the anonymity of the internet, the legality is not a concern. If WikiLeaks could happen and the guy is still alive, anyhting's possible.

I hope so. I put in for my pistol permits in November and all I really want is a Beretta 92FS and/or a 357 Ruger revolver. I'm afraid to even go to stores to see what's left.

They needed proof of citizenship since I was born outside the US. I guess once they receive our documentation the first time they dont keep it on file because I've submitted the same documents (passport, citizenship papers) multiple times for my FID and permits in the past. Maybe they do keep copies on record but I bet if I had mentioned that it would have taken them another 4 weeks to open their filing cabinets and look for a piece of paper. This was Parsippany BTW.
Ha! Parsippany did that to me when I first got my FID many years ago. My new town (Jefferson Twp.) didn't ask when I changed the address. Been waiting on pistol permits 8 weeks, no call for additional info yet. References went out and were returned long ago. I'm reading this thread and wonder if I should follow up, although on the packet it said in bold letters "IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO FOLLOW UP ON THE STATUS OF YOUR PAPERWORK"

@Nickjc:
I'll be happy to give you my business - I'm 2 months into waiting for my pistol permits and need either a Ruger GP100 or a Beretta 92FS. Hopefully these ar not part of the "gun rush" yet.

Can't. Firearms ownership and use is protected as a Right. Motorcycling isn't.
Sure you can. FA weapons are completely banned right now for 99% of people, protection as a right be damned. So between not having any option or being required to be certified - I'll pick the second.

Just require people to obtain a special license, like having a motorcycle endorsement on your DL. Mental exam, 20 hrs of safety training. Make the person an automatic accomplice if the automatic weapon is used in a crime.
Do I think there's a need for them? No. But I would love to own some of the WWII era "machine-pistols"

im officially never ordering anything from them again. There is no need for a company like them to buy into this liberal media crap.
DICKS is also no longer carrying (the first time i have heard it called right in the media) Modern Sporting rifles any more.
Are you sure? Their banner says "temporarily sales of firearms", nothing about ammo. I don't think they could survive without ammo sales.

Just a really high volume since election. I bought a rifle a month ago and it took the shop owner 6 hours to get through. I left the rifle with him at noon and he called back at 6:30PM saying it was done. He told me the same thing as mentioned above: they shut off the phone lines to catch up.
To play devil's advocate: I'm kind of understand them. They also had cutbacks and probably short-staffed. They can't just hire someone to do work that may stop coming in in as suddenly as it started.

I submitted first week of November. The town is Jefferson Twp. (Morris County). Last time (2008) it took 3 months just to get the address changed on my firearms ID card. Not the PD fault, it was 3 days after election. Generally my town PD is cool, I'm afraid it will get stuck with the state police for 12 months, with the volumes they are seeing.

Hi All,
New guy here. I've owned rifles and shotguns for about 11 years. After the hurricane went and put in for two permits for handguns. You guys seem to know what's going on with the NICS checks timeframes, so my question is - what are the chances of me seeing my paperwork come through before the end of 2013? All I want is a .357 revolver...
Thanks in advance.

UPS has just admitted to losing my package with 300+ rounds of ammunition somewhere in their Parsippany hub. They started the "investigation". And the award for Most Useless Customer Service goes to... UPS! They literally just kept reading back to me the exact info that is posted on their website and simply adding "We understand, but..." to the beginning of each response.
