  1. 400-500 people are killed by police every year. With the exception of 2001, the cops kill more. Are many of them scumbags that probably deserve it? Sure, but the basic premise is correct.

    Agreed.

Take a look at this: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-10-14-justifiable_N.htm

True if you get killed by a cop it's most likely justified. But take a look at this:

    http://www.globalresearch.ca/calm-down-you-are-much-more-likely-to-be-killed-by-boring-mundane-things-than-terrorism/5333187

There are many other things you are more likely to die from than from a terrorist. So I want my privacy and freedom back. I'll take my chances with the big bad terrorists. If I die from one. That's ok. At least I lived free, in a free society where the government isn't spying on your every move and reading all your emails, logging all your phone calls Etc. apparently the Bill of Rights means nothing in 2013.

  2. Actually I'm not happy at all with more than a 10 minute wait as that's what it takes in free states. But I was expecting 21 days according to some of the people here. So 10 days is not as bad as 21 yet still unacceptable.

I have contacted the NJ Attorney Generals office to file a complaint and I suggest anyone unhappy with the excessive delays do the same.

  3. Whoever wants to send a free fax via internet there is a good service I use at faxzero.com .   You can send a PDF or Doc file to any fax machine through the internet.  Max. 5 Free faxes per day.

P.S. increased demand is NOT the cause of the delays.  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

  4. Thanks for the words of encouragement.  We're all in this together.  I picked up my shiny new M&P 9c recently and now waiting on NICS for my Ruger 22/45 Target.  I've also joined NJ2AS and the NRA.  A right not used is a right lost.  Here's wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!

  5. Thanks to the wide media exposure and attempts of some people in politics to ban certain inalienable rights I became a gun owner for the first time in 2013.  Basically I would have never even thought to buy one if I wasn't constantly reminded in the media how "bad" they were, and how ordinary citizens should not have them.  Even though it's a basic right under the Constitution of the land.

So.. you want a gun and live in NJ?  You have never had a criminal record whatsoever?  You've never been arrested?  The closest you've ever been to breaking the law is a parking violation?  Welcome! you are now a felon in waiting according to the powers that be if you want to own a firearm.

You see guns are banned in N.J.  100% banned.  The only reason you are even allowed to have one, is through multiple "exceptions".  Stray from any one of those exceptions and welcome to prisonville.  No it's not an app on your iPhone, it's a not so nice place where 3 meals a day are served and a bottle of vaseline is optional. ;)

NJ goes specifically above and beyond and out of their way, to make sure owning a gun is the most difficult and time consuming endeavor you've ever had the displeasure of trying.

But to all the naysayers.. heres a big "F" YOU!  I now am the proud owner of a handgun, and have another gun on the way.  All of your deflect and delay tactics were for naught.

thank you for listening to my rant..

  6. Well I've bought my first gun at RTSP, think the sales guy was Jan or Jon? Anywho.. He was very professional and I didn't get any of the attitude mentioned in this thread. Had a good experience. I have visited several other shops in north jersey and have gotten the "why are you bothering me" attitude.. As if they aren't in the business of selling guns. Those shops lost a sale. My next purchase however was done on gunbroker since nobody seems to have a Ruger 22/45 in stock.

  7.    Its a finished basement, I don't run a de-humidifier, its definitely not needed..  I guess I would like insight specifically to firearms storage and humiditiy issues.    Do those basilica bags (spelling?) things really work if i put them in the cabinet?

The only way to know if it's humid or not is to have a hygrometer.  Basements are generally more humid than your other living quarters due to being near/under ground.  If it's temperature controlled with air conditioning then I would say you're good.  If not, I would get a de-humidifier or at least a cheap 10$ hygrometer to see what the moisture levels are at.  Those silica bags do work fine, just stick them in the same cabinet/case as your firearms.
