  1. This is a great thread, I'm learning all I can to build my first AR too. I'm gona use it in the service rifle class and shoot 600 yards. I'm thinking about buying a Keystone Accuracy upper and building a lower.

Looks like every one really likes BCM.

You really can't go wrong with BCM, they assemble a wonderful product at the 1000 to 1500 price point. if I had 1500 to spend on a pre assembled. I would go BCM or Daniel Defense. The DD rifles balance really well. and they make one of the nicer rails out there.

All of these products, either complete from a manufacture or home grown, will absolutely step up a ton with a good trigger. It is probably the most impressive performance upgrade you can do.  I think, since the AGL is considered a combat trigger, you should able to use it in service class. but you would have to check.

  2. No ones perfect I guess.

    Lol. That was funny.

Op- I am new to the forums, but far from new to the ar world. Congrats that you at least got something. Now go shoot!

HE- I had to laugh, as I too had an xm-15 and I too had the same thoughts...

I also like how most people put Noveske ( rip) in the list, but not Larue or Knights... Weird. ( and yes, I own a noveske, as well as a knights...) the top Ter truly build amazing products.

Op-you know that link does not include a bolt carrier/ bolt or ch right? And it is not pinned and welded. Just make sure you get yourself covered. Also looks like an a2 hider in the pic. Make sure they let you pick something on the nj good list.. ( roll eyes).

    Have fun.

  3. Here is my .02 -

Any light is fine, as long as it's cool with recoil. Keep in mind some inexpensive lights are not good with prolonged recoil of 556 or 762x39 the circuit board and or springs will fail. I use mainly tlr-1 on my weapons, as they are designed around these uses. Surefire makes great stuff, and pretty much over engineers everything. I use the streamlight product, as I feel I can have a really good product, and more of them vs surefires great product.

The insite product also gets a lot of play for the same reason as the streamlight.

Just make sure the light you use can deal with weapon recoil over time.

  4. Hi keep in mind they really stock nothing and basically use the manufactures as a drop ship. They are a spin off from buds ( I think a fall out years ago) like someone else said. Almost zero cust service...It's a crap shoot when manufactures are so in back order and places like this are really just a paperwork stop.

  5. Thanks for the input. And yes. I joined Easton, great range but closer to 50-60 mins from me. And let's face it, anyone can goin for 35 bux. So most Sundays its a mad house. I have gone during the week when off of work. But it's 2 hours round trip so it's tough to do.

I guess it is what it is, I was spoiled, l lived in pa for the last 3 yrs and I was 20 mins from my range.

Selfishly, I was hoping someone said- " oh man you should go to blah, it's only around the corner" lol

    Thanks all.

  6. Hi all, long time rifle / pistol shooter more into action pistol then target. I live not far from Clinton, nj and have spent the last few days researching area ranges. I am perplexed. I looked up a map of all ranges clubs and stores. ( fantastic map made by someone on this forum! Great work) anyway. First one was shongum? Went to that site, they literally have a 200 person waiting list! Then croton? - not accepting members at this time, then over to scfgpa. Same, not accepting members at this time.

So, the question. Is it really that bad? Or am I missing places? It would be great to find a place within 30 mins of my location. But so far seems unrealistic.

I welcome any insight you all can provide.

    Thanks.
