I've seen that these Birchwood Casey cloths work magic on removing carbon, lead and burn rings, but are they abrasive? I'm wondering it they will change the finish of a brushed stainless revolver if I use them to clean and polish it. I'd like to clean the gun up and make it pretty but don't want to polish the brushed finish out and end up with something too shiny.

Any opinions on the Olympic Arms K16?

Looking for a budget AR, $700 or less would be great, primary purposes would be fun at the range and education for the wife. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Well , that is more than most men . Average LOP for guys is 14" or a hair more. Off the shelf LOPs on long guns are about 14.5 inches. A) Is she very tall ? B) Are you sure you measured correctly?
She's 5' 8", I had her bend her right arm and measured from the inside of her elbow to the pad of her index finger.

Measured her LOP, looks to be about 15.5 inches.

John,
Really depends on what you want the gun for. Her only? Home defense only? Shooting clays? Hunting? All of these? Makes a big difference in your choice.
Primarily education and home defense, might shoot some clays too, it wouldn't be for hunting.

my wife is interested in learning to shoot a shotgun, she has experience wth handguns but not long guns. I'm thinking that a 20g semiauto would be a good way to go for her, any suggestions on models would be greatly appreciated, or if you think there might be a better way to go I'd appreciate hearing your opinion. Thanks.

How do you feel about the Glock 26 for a CCW? To thick/bulky? If there's something you'd prefer over this model what is it and why? Thanks.

I've been reading the recommendations about what to keep in your bug out bag. One of the recommendations is "Enough food and water to last for 72 hours", and they say that you should have 1 gallon of water per person per day.
So...if i were preparing a bag for my wife and myself, that would mean I'm supposed to have 6 gallons of water in my bug out bag?! What kind of stupid recommendation is this?

They did that to me too but had to give notice. They couldn't just enter at will unless it was an emergency.
"Emergency" is subjective, I had a landlord enter my apartment without notice when I wasn't home because she "heard water running and was afraid there would be a flood". There was nothing wrong in my apartment.

Does this person have enough hand strength to pull the double action trigger of a revolver?
-
Who is going to be guarding it at that point?
So you're envisioning a scenario where the "SHTF" and your local police force decides that it's time to just clear out and leave everything behind, and you're just going to waltz into the now abandoned police station and take whatever you want? Not likely.

This question comes up from time to time and what I don't understand is...what makes people think that post Zombie Apocalypse they're going to have access to law enforcement supplies?

I can't believe the number of people putting ketchup on hotdogs (and admitting it no less), what kind of world is this?

Contender for the dumbest thing I've ever seen...
...pretty funny though.

I just received a few boxes of ammo that I ordered 6 months ago (not from Cabelas, another online retailer). I emailed them 6 weeks after I placed the order and asked how long it was going to take, they said 12-18 months, so I guess I should consider myself lucky that it only took 6.

How about a revolver?

I'm thinking Glock 26 IWB.

Never been to Range 14, would like to do some pistol shooting and want to know what I need to bring to set up both paper targets and to plink bottles and cans. Thanks.

I bought the Korean knock offs (KCI brand) online for $10 each. I wouldn't use them for self defense but for range use they work just fine.
Is it possible to remove the "L" and arrow from a S&W revolver?

I know its common to remove the lock and plug the hole, but that still leaves you with the unsightly "L" and arrow. I assume this is some kind of laser etching? Anyone ever try to remove this from the frame? If so what was your method and what kind of results did you have?
