I don't recall that being the case. For example, I haven't seen any part of the law that requires you to carry a FID to take your gun to the shop to have it repaired or any of the other reasons we are so generously allowed by NJ law to have the firearm in our vehicle. Just section g applies in terms of how you encase it and keep it being unloaded.
I think the only thing a FID does is allow you to purchase a long gun. Doesn't seem to serve any other purpose.
Here: debate it with Evan Nappen:

if i'm correct, with your fPid, you can have your long guns stored in your vehicle pretty much from now till the end of time. as long as they're secured as per the statutes.
Here, debate it with Evan Nappen lol

I'm going by what I heard Evan Nappen say ...as I understood it anyway.

My understanding is you need the FID if you're transporting any LONG GUNS around OTHER than directly to or directly from the range.

I like that idea lol
I'm checking my work calendar in the morning and if I'm free I'm registering. I'm really commenting so this will come up in my "Participated" threads and I don't forget.

I know a guy near the Wawa On Texas Road in the Englishtown/Old Bridge area. He's really fair with prices.

Right to carry is my ultimate hope/goal. I mean once we have that and people see crime drop and fewer victims, I think the war on the 2A will dry up in this state. (IMHO)

I've got enough "button" mag releases. I wanted to try something new and went with the M1 and I actually really like it.

I bought 5.56 at East Brunswick Dick's and they didn't ask for ANY identification.

I didn't understand the finance side of it so thank you for explaining that. I also agree with maintenanceguy. Let's just get 300 of us who are committed to this to move on it. Maybe seeing us do this will motivate other 2A supporters that live in NJ to do it again in another wave when they feel left out of the fight.

Actually if it's NOT legal I'm still doing it. Because that is some BS if it's not.

I hope it's legal because I've done it before. Also when I visit my family in Maine I bring my guns and we go shooting, too. That being said I do have a Utah non-resident ccw so I guess I'm covered.

Yeah, we know this, so does the state. I was being sarcastic.
But if we could find 100,000 people that were not afraid of big bad NJ. That percent would change dramatically and prove that NJ is a no issue state.
I've been ready to submit my app with the other 99,999 people to prove NJ wrong.
It baffles me that we don't at least have 10,000 people itching to apply for CCW. Almost every FID holder I talk to says they'll do it. But somehow we can't even get 1,000 signatures on the petition, let alone get 1000 people to commit to applying.

I agree and disagree. In my experience the frontline LEO's are pretty pro-2nd Amendment. I have found that their Adminstration are the ones that are against it. Their Administration are mostly political (Democrat) and vote along party lines.
I have a bunch of close friends and family who are LEO and all but one are hardcore PRO 2A. The one who isn't just has the attitude that most people are too stupid to be trusted with them, but he sees a lot of shit in his territory, so I "try" to be understanding but we also cannot have this debate anymore because we are both so hardcore in our opinions.
Though they all say they're never going to jump onboard with any kind of executing/confiscation of the anti-2nd amendment rhetoric going on today. AND about a dozen family members are or have been in the military and say they would never turn on American citizens either. So percentage wise I think Obama and his disciples can pass all the anti 2A laws they want, as long as we don't comply we have nothing to fear from those cowards when LEO and Military have OUR back and not theirs. (IMHO)

The ATF was beaten back on another bogus interpretation of their rules early last year; ATF ruled that a muzzle device was a "silencer" without even investigating if it lowered the sound of shots.
The manufacturer sued the ATF, won, and got their interpretation overturned. I wonder if an ammo manufacturer can follow the same path...:
Good question!?
