I shoot their 9, 40 and 223 reman in my guns. Several thousand in total and no issues.
-
Not often it's expensive. I have put it on paper though, no difference I saw between it and ball ammo.
Ok, just checking. I shot a box or 2 to make sure the POA/POI is correct & that my gun shoots it fine and since I have just left it in the magazines.

How often do you guys shoot your HD/SD ammo?
-
Niceeeeee!!! That is very similar to the look I wanted. Maybe I should consider a 13 or 15" hand guard rail instead of quad rail. I wanted to be able to attach a light on the side and the option for a grip. I think I can still do that.

I went for a long handguard on my 14.5" barrel - 13" BCM KMR:

Heavy duty magnets strategically mounted under or behind each room's furniture but only if childless or a home not typically visited by children......
Didn't know why I never thought of this. That's a good idea! Where would one source these??

Thanks. Shoots great as well! The ACT trigger is great. Love how everything turned out. I "think" I was able to zero the Bushnell red dot as best I can. Went for a 50 yard zero at GFH this morning sitting with a bench rest. I'll go back when the ammo I ordered comes in.

Both BCM KeyMod grips came in yesterday. Feels terrific.

Just saw it via email blast. Nice.. $10 off the usual price.

What tool are you referring to?
Very nice build btw
I was referring to the spring-loaded center punch. This one from Amazon worked perfectly.
-
Staking requires a $10 tool from Home Depot and 5 minutes of your time. It's really a no brainer
Or a $6 tool from Amazon (that they sent me 2 of... anyone want one?)
I ended up tightening by feel & staking.
I also put that picatinny rail attachment up front (offset) b/c, from when I handled it, that feels like the perfect place I want to index my support hand.

I did notice that after these pics. Is there a standard position it should be or do I have to find my preference? The optic is a little too far back

Well here she is! Thanks for all the advice & help everyone. Great to have a forum like this around. I know the BCM Comp is well debated, but it's what I went with. If it's ever deemed illegal for sure, be sure to let me know!
Hopefully I can get out to GFH this weekend to zero the dot in. Never done it before.

lets see some progress pics!
Will hopefully have completion pics by tonight. Rest of the parts are in! Oh and I have to decide on the blue Loctite or staking.

Anyone use their .223 in either weight? Is 30 cents a round considered good for .223?
I'll probably give it a try anyway since I love their 9mm & 180gr .40, but just wanted to see if anyone has any actual experience.

Actually forgot to order an armorers wrench but Amazon saved the day. It'll be here tomorrow with the stock. Will also stake the castle nut!Don't forget to stake that castle nut

BCM buffer tube kit received & installed so just waiting on the stock & TRS-25 (for now) that arrives on Wednesday. Gun cycles perfectly. Can't wait to finish it up.

Main video I used was from MrGunsNGear because he used minimal tools. Also used s00tch & iraqveteran8888's.

Hi all, my lower parts kit will be here Monday, my bcm upper Wednesday, and stock and buffer Thursday, all that's left is figuring out which hand guard to choose. I want to thank everyone so much for all the help, you guys really helped me out alot, not only with choosing what to purchase, but giving me the confidence to attempt my first build. One last question, I really want this build to be a super solid rifle, do you guys think I should forget about using the Anderson stripped lower I have and get something else? Thanks again.
You'll like the BCM upper. Mine came in last week & I mated it to my stripped lower. Really nice quality here. I ended up going with the 14.5" + pinned BCM comp mod 1 & the BCM KMR 13" rail. Completely happy.
I also have the Anderson lower & assembly was a breeze. I don't really think the manufacturer of the lower matters from the research that I've done. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks, Tack. That Ergo grip looks nice. I usually like the type of grip that you're describing. And I'll definitely keep that sling setup in mind since that's something that is on the list once I get it up & running.
-
Thanks for all the advice, guys. Going with the BCM buffer kit & fixed length carbine. Those are the last parts that are due in next week.
Otherwise, I have everything else assembled, including the ACT trigger. Man this thing is crisp. One thing I know I'll want to change very shortly is the grip. The regular A2 grip + my small hands are uncomfortable. That tab is just digging into my ring finger.

Thanks for that link to Midwest PX. I ordered some mags from them earlier this week; they ship fast! I hear great things about that ACT trigger so for that price, why not. In fact, I ordered a few minutes ago & already have a shipping label created. I'm definitely a repeat customer.
I'll probably go with the Magpul Fixed Carbine (link). If I went with the BCM milspec receiver extension kit, which buffer weight would I select for my setup?

Hi, guys. Looking for some advice for my first build after doing a ton of research the past few weeks.
Here is what I've ordered so far:
- Anderson Lower
- BCM Standard 14.5" Mid Length (LIGHT WEIGHT) Upper Receiver Group (link)
- BCM BCG
- BCM Gunfighter CH Mod 4
- BCM Gunfighter Comp Mod 1
Still unsure what handguards I'll be doing. Probably going to try the MOE, but have used a friend's quad rail & liked the feel of his AR, too.
Where I need help is the LPK & stock/buffer. I was going to order this from PSA, but I don't feel like waiting 3-4 weeks since all my other parts are due in tomorrow.
Is anyone here partial to a particular LPK & stock/buffer? I'm more so in the dark about stock & buffer. I know that I can get a myriad of LPKs like Spikes, CMMG, DPMS, Joe Bob, Rock River, Radical, Daniel Defense, etc.
Also, am I missing anything in this build? Rear sight or optic, I guess?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome! Hope to see you at GFH as that's where I usually shoot, too.

Starting my first ever AR build. Ordered an Anderson lower & a BCM upper. Spent a lot of money in the first 2 days of 2015!
Whats your go to HD firearm and do you have a backup?

What ammo in the AR? And where might I find it in stock? Seems like no places online have the most popular HD AR ammo in stock.
