  1. Woah! Should my wife and I both be expecting these? I renewed and she got her initial license from them this past summer. How long ago did you get your license?

The date I signed my application was 10/26/16. Postmark on the envelope my permit came in was 12/12/16. Postmark of the envelope with refund is 1/26/17.

    My check was for $112.

    Hope this helps.

  2. I just did my Hunter Ed today and am finalizing my FL application. One thing isn't clear. Do I need to include a copy of my driver license or passport if I'm a citizen? It seems like the answer is no, but could someone clarify?

    Thanks!

    FYI

Just got off the phone with the FL licensing department and the woman on the phone said to send a copy of my passport.

  3. What makes this especially interesting is how this muddies communication. Unicode is only a character encoding, so emojis behave like text. The image is drawn on the client (viewer) side of the software. It's not like sending a picture.

Assuming the purpose of changing the icon is to reduce its use as a threat, it's only effective if it's changed everywhere. Now if I intend to send a water pistol emoji to someone and their client draws a handgun, it can (and has) been interpreted as a threat.

On the other hand, if someone intends to threaten another with a pistol icon and it is rendered as a water gun on the other side, it's no longer defensible as an overt threat, despite the fact that was the original intent behind the message.

    Fun, right?

Very good point. I didn't think about it that much, but you're right. Unless they change the underlying code, it'll be a gun on every device except updated iOS devices.

Here's an opinion piece on the change. I'm sure you'll love it:

  4. DDT1345, I recently moved and was looking at these. I'd love to hear about your experience with the installation and if you have a photo or 2 that would be great.

    Thanks in advance, Jeff

    Hey Jeff,

I'm not ignoring you. Been very busy getting ready for vacation. I'll get you pics in the next day or two.

  5. I have heard a lot of good things about this:

    http://armorconcepts.com/EZ-Armor/

But have no first hand experience.

There were some recent break-ins in my neighborhood and I had remembered this thread. Based on this recommendation and the videos I watched of this in action on YouTube, I went ahead and purchased three. Two of the regular and one of the "double side light".

If anyone is interested in how the install went, or wants pictures or anything. Let me know.

    Thanks HE for the recommendation.

  6. A friend of mine needs a ride to Sterling, PA on Thursday. I don't get out to PA much since the kids were born so this is a chance to take a detour or two. We'll be crossing the border at Milford. Any recommendations on places to stop for food, cool gun shop, etc?

    Thanks in advance.

  7. See the neck tat? I deal with people like her on a fairly regular basis working in Newark. She's no angel to begin with, and i'm willing to bet $$ she already has a record. And no, i'm not talking about black people, i'm talking about crackheads and thugs in general. There are quite a few white and spanish/latino crackheads over there as well, though the majority and most dangerous ones there are in fact black. Almost cracked one in the head with a bat that was all tatted and shit when she got in my wifes face. I think that was after the baby was born, because if it was when she was pregnant that lady would be in the morgue.

I didn't notice the tatt until you pointed it out, but yes now I see it. I was paying more attention to the fact that the picture shows a person that looks pissed off and not one bit upset that she lost a child.

  8. Great step. You ll have a CCW.

Maybe you ll be able to carry in PA faster with a NH license as they have reciprocity with PA given the recent developments (lawsuit against NH regarding non residents applying without a license in their home state).

Now go buy the official Utah gun :sungum:

If NJ had a state gun, what would it be? Nerf?

  9. I live about 5 mins from there in Towaco and always wanted to go. Just need to buy the necessary accessories...like a shotgun. Got the itch before my wedding. We got married at Skylands Manor. Shot at Thunder Mountain the morning of. That was 6 years ago now!
