Of particular interest is the "carry" aspect.

Does NOT go even remotely far enough. Gesturing to prevent wholesale possible future SCOTUS smack downs?

Dont know about any of you. But I am SICK and TIRED of "baby steps". SICK AND TIRED.

I agree, people are applauding this and I am just shrugging my shoulders. Justifiable needs is something that needs to be removed totally. Needing to justify something is equal to infringing upon the person's rights. Infringing does not limit to preventing. But, it is also undermines and restricts it. My justifiable needs is simple; it is in the constitution.

Have you sent a complaint to http://www.state.nj.us/governor/contact/ ? This is how I got the ball rolling. I wrote a heavily detailed (chronological order) letter. I referenced two cases where delays actually cost lives. I included the  NJ code 2C:58-3 - Purchase of firearms - section F. I also added that I hope to never need one to defend my family and not have it due to these infringing delays.  I am paraphrasing it. Who knows, maybe that got them motivated to contact me. :)

I wish you the best of luck and let us know of any updates.

  3. Your mayor and town council have no authority, control or probably even influence over the Red Lion NJSP barracks or the FIU in Trenton. That's why I suggested the AG.

Great point. My original letter did go to the AG. They in turn forwarded a copy of it to the head of the Firearm Division for an investigation on why the delay. Lt. Ross seemed adamant that Hope NJSP should not have allowed it to be delayed this long. Especially because of the delay being NY mental health check. He explained that a Judge made a ruling that mental health checks should be done beyond NJ. Judge has no clue on the logistics of obtaining out of state mental health checks. Unfortunately. the person in charge of Hope NJSP FID Dept. is on vacation this week. This is why he has asked for a week to get back to me. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and will work with him first.

BTW, you have been great with your replies and I thank you for taking the time.

  4. Amazing. Well at least you have some hope this gets quickly resolved. Good luck.

I hope so. I'll wait and see what happens by next week.

Still waiting on my FID unfortunately.  No follow-ups from FIU or information.

Sorry to hear that you haven't heard anything. Hopefully you will get a call soon. It seems that they may be getting some pressure from the Gov to get this under control. Election year's can benefit us at times.

In light of the AG press release this week, perhaps you'd like to file a letter asking the AG exactly how he intends to make the State Police comply with his directive.

    Or file a formal complaint.

I am going to wait until next week. If I am not satisfied, I plan on following step 3 suggested by NJ2AS:

"3.) If you get no satisfaction from the Police Department or if they are non-committal, make an appointment with your Mayor and/or town council and/or municipal attorney to discuss this problem and ask politely for their assistance....."

  5. I receive a call today from Lt. Ross of the Firearm Division. He was responding to my letter that I wrote to the Governor's Office. He is going to investigate the delay and hope to have it resolve for me by early next week. He left me his direct line; so, I can follow up with him next week. He said that the person at  the Hope barracks should not wait any longer than a couple of weeks for the mental health check in NY.

I will update this as soon as something new is to report.

  6. I'm surprised no one has brought a civil rights suit against the state. Even if they do issue the FID it's well beyond an infringement of your rights, people are just all too happy to wait a year and then get their FID and forget about it.

I have been saying the same thing. We really need to gather people and have some type of civil suit against NJ. These delays and waiting times are unconstitutional at the very least. I am not too familar how to start one. I would certainly participate if such lawsuit was filed.

  7. Still no reply from FIU.  Certified letters are going to be sent out to Attorney General and State Police HQ's Professional Standards on Monday if still no response from FIU. Why does the Firearms Investigation Unit not respond to any calls or voicemails?  I have been contacting them for months I have still yet to receive a single response.

Same here -- will begin a writting campaign, and will not stop until I get some answers.

  8. Call the state police, most likely the sgt in your town has no idea. I've heard many a local PD say we are waiting on the state, only to call the state to hear them say we responded weeks ago.

Sorry, I've been dealing with State Pol. Spoke with them last week and was told they're now waiting on NY. I was told they sent the request to NY in mid-January. Also, he did not remember that Fl. Is a no-access state. So, only NY Mental Health check is pending.

  9. I sent an email to the Governors office on Tuesday letting them know that my wait for my change of address was over 90 days. I received a reply Wednesday saying that it was being forwarded to the Attorney General. I am hoping that my FID wont be lost in the shuffle because I am stirring the pot. Here's the link I used http://www.state.nj.us/governor/contact/

I did the same two weeks ago. Last week I received a similar email regarding forwarding to AG. I refuse to wait any longer without causing a sh#tstorm. 3 months is more than enough time. I put money aside so I can purchase my handgun as soon as I receive my FID and PPs. I ordered three, so let's see how this works out. Best of luck to you and the rest of those suffering the same infringement of our Second Amendment right.

  10.

The permits (and my updated FID) had an "issued" date of 11/20, but I didn't get a call to come get them until 12/10 (picked them up the next day on the 11th). 20 days they were "ready" and just sitting on someone's desk before I got a call. So being that they expire in 90 days w/o requesting an extension, they would have expired yesterday.

Ok, I was just wondering if they would try some BS and say 90 days from the original issued date. Thanks again for your replies and inputs.

  11. I also recently had to go through an NJSP barracks. They were an absolute joke, unfortunately. I had called at one point for an update, as you did, and got a similar line about how "they were just getting back applications sent to Trenton in May of 2015 (this was November)." After submitting the complaint and receiving my permits, I noticed the issuance date was WEEKS before I had even had that conversation with the Sgt("issued"11/20, update requested 12/3, complaint filed 12/7, received permits 12/10). There's a very real possibility that my completed change of address/p2p's were sitting on his desk, no more than 2 feet from him as he told me it would be another 3-4 months. Un-f*cking acceptable.

Is it possible that FL is really the hold up? Possibly. But from my experience, things magically get done when you start bitching to one's superior about them not doing their jobs.

I filed a complaint earlier today. I hope to have the same luck you did and receive a quick reply and solution. One question on the handgun purchase permits. The permits had which date on them? I only ask becuase of that nonsensical rule of only 1 handgun per 30 days rule.

  12. Thank you all. I will submit a formal complaint, as OfcrFek suggested.

Joe, this state varies locally with the permit process.

Your best bet imho is to contact Fl. Get stuff in paper/ email , for dates of mental background ck query. Etc

Your dealing with the NJSP Hope Barracks.  NOTORIOUSLY SLOW is the word on the street.

Go on the governor's website and submit a formal complaint.

  13. Sorry if this has already been discussed. I used the search feature here prior to posting the following:

Last weeks was week 10 of my saga obtaining my FID Card/3 Permits. I spoke to the Sgt. regarding having completed my fingerprints on 2/11/16 and would like a status. He explained to me that he has yet to receive anything from Trenton. He also mentioned that he is also waiting to hear from Fl on my mental health check.

So, yesterday, I decided to call Trenton and get some answers. The young lady was extremely helpful and provided me with the dates the prints were put in and release. I went on 2/11 and they release it on 2/12. She explained to me that once it has been completed; they send a letter with their findings to the barrack where I applied.

Yesterday, I tried several times to speak with the Sgt. at the barracks, but he was unavailable. I did receive a call from him this morning and was advised that he has the fingerprint results and is now waiting on Fl. to respond to the mental health check request. He also explained that he received my fingerprint results the day after we spoke last week. I am a little suspect on that one; reason being, why would he not call me about it upon receiving them the day after we just spoke.

Now my concern is this: he is telling me this can take weeks to months (claims he has waited 8 months) before hearing back from them. Any advice? Should I contact someone in Florida about this?

This is why people purchase guns illegally! I do not condone it, but why go through this bureaucratic mess!

  14. If not too far for you, Steve at Monmouth Arms almost always has pinned 15 mag CZ 75s. Great guy to do business with. Great gun as well!

    http://monmoutharms.com/firearms.html

Thank you. I added them to my bookmarks of gun sites. I've heard great things about them. I always try to do as much research as possible before purchasing anything. Firearms to me is something that would require such due diligence.

  15. Aren't all fingerprints now done digitally by a 3rd party?

Sounds like you are getting a serious run around by the state police. Welcome to the forum.

Yes, but my hands are kind of tied. It really sucks when I need to keep myself from going off on someone,

  16. It is great. feels great and shoots even better. big plus is the trigger is great out of the box. Out of all the polymer guns i own the VP is my favorite.

I bought the LE version with night sights and extra mag. No mods needed.

Thanks for the info. I will look into renting one as well as the others I mentioned.

  17. Hopefully you get it soon. I also go to RTSP nice range and decent prices. i bought a VP9 and Kimber Raptor from them. When you get into rifles and you will. 1. You better get a 2nd and 3rd job and 2. they opened a new indoor range in Flemington that stretches out 40 Yards but does not have any rental as of yet. Google Tactical Training Center

I do love some of the rifles; but you are right about the money. Thank god for tax season :) I found the website you were referring about. It looks nice, but there are not enough info or pics to make a true judgement. Your thoughts on the VP9? I also looked at that one.
