  1. I spoke with the police department for my township. There are no ordinances regulating firearms use on personal property. It's blasting time!
  2. I'm searching the ordinances now, but there's nothing on firearms that I can find. Perhaps I have to call the police department.
  3. I'm in Warren county, so I like my chances... Any idea who I can call for this information?
  4. Hey, gunbros. I want to zero my rifle scope in my backyard. I have some acres and a lot of woods behind that. I need to call upon your collective wisdom to provide what laws I need to abide by to do this without risking the wrath of Democrats. So what are the rules for shooting in the backyard? Minimum distance to other residence? Can't do it ever because NJ sucks? TEACH ME
  5. Some ranges force you to buy their ammo or you won't be allowed to shoot.
  6. Okay, so no rounds in the firearm is all that's needed. Hell, I may not even bring ammo. The range I go to might force me to buy their own crap when I get there anyway. W/e
  7. I read the other thread, but I seem to recall there being some specific law that ammo has to be completely separated from the firearm while in transit. Simply being unloaded isn't enough. Is this correct? Do I have to keep the ammo in the cab while the handgun is unloaded in the trunk? Or can I keep them together in the same case like I do at home or in a free state?
  8. What I "know" right now. The only part that matters from a legal standpoint in NJ is the serialized lower receiver. Every other part I can legally order online and build the rifle myself. (As long as the end build doesn't violate unconstitutional NJ laws regarding "assault weapons.") Am I correct? Or do I need a broker for more than just the lower receiver?
  9. UPDATE: I contacted the PD and the reason it hasn't gone through is that one of my references didn't return the questionnaire they were sent. I've given them another person as a reference and they will make sure to fill it out for me when it arrives. My other reference told me that he received the questionnaire weeks ago and sent it in. So, my friend failed me not the PD. I'll yell at him to start checking his damn mail. Thanks to all of you I actually called and asked about the delay. They are simply waiting on that second reference. I had no idea they would actually contact my references in writing. Thanks again. I expect I should have my FID by next week.
  10. No, I received and turned in the paperwork to my local police department. What they do with it at that point, I don't know.
  11. Oh, I thought it was a state wide thing. I'm in Washington Township, Warren County. I thought the paperwork had to clear Trenton before it came back to my local police station. This, I assume, would be what takes so long. My town isn't a very busy place.
  12. Hey, I applied for my FID about a month ago. I've heard varying reports on how long it takes. The ranges include 30 days to 9 months, so I'm asking the collective wisdom of this forum what is a realistic expectation for my FID to clear NJ bureaucracy. Thanks
  13. I'm a little confused as to how this works. Will they ship it to a gun store here in NJ and then I pick it up there? Will they ship it direct to my house? At what point do I have to fill out the CoE? I assume they are on the hook for filing whatever needs to be filed with the fed. My assumption: 1. I buy the gun over the phone. 2. They ship gun to a NJ gun shop. 3. I go to said gun shop and show my FID and fill out CoE 4. I take my gun home. Is this correct?
  14. Are there ANY restrictions on bolt-action rifles? I am looking into buying an M40A5 (USMC modded Remington 700). http://www.gaprecision.net/mil-spec-rifles/m40a5.html
