D.C. has granted but 8000 permits, with 60% of those going to non-residents (mostly commuters from VA & MD)

D.C. residents continue to lag behind and wait. 700k+ residents live in D.C.

Did you pull these numbers out of thin air? I did some research and could not verify any definite number of carry permits issued in DC since they got carry. There are some various estimates made 2 or 3 years ago but, no definite numbers. Verification of how many permits have been issued in the last 3 or 4 years seems impossible to find as well. Secondly, 700k residents may live in the DC area, but we don't know how many applied since their "good cause" requirement was struck down. We also cannot verify how many applied and were denied after the law change in the past few years. The fact is we simply don't know! The only thing certain is that they (DC) issued 1000's more permits while NJ issued like a 200.

Bruen isn’t going to save NJ. Half a century of an anti-gun culture is not going to be turned on its head overnight.

As usual, last minute warning from the ANJRPC over what’s cooking in Trenton. Leaves just enough time for a handful of the one million gun owners of New Jersey to flood the internet with negative memes of Gov. Murphy and his teeth.

Until you have people who can be taken seriously from the pro-gun side, advocates who can sit at a collective bargaining table and reach agreements face to face; nothing will ever change. I haven’t heard one negative comment yet from Jack C. or Philip R. on this subject.

Phil has been on a roll since he announced his candidacy in 2016.

Are you Nostradamus? Do you posses a time machine that you use to go into the future to hear verdicts before their issued?

How are you so certain that SCOTUS won't make a broad ruling that effects the remaining 6 or 7 states that are still "may issue". Why

can't you understand that NJ, CA etc cannot simply ignore SCOTUS rulings. Could NJ enact training requirements and fees to

compensate? Sure! It will slow us down but, it won't stop us. Those who are determined like myself will go through any training and

    spare no expense for this.

So if NJ enacts the bill preventing you from defending yourself in your own house, you'll get to carry outside and do it?

"Excuse me Mister Home Invader. Would you mind stepping out onto my veranda?"

    The irony is ludicrous.

C'mon really? I think you know the answer.

We may get the ruling tomorrow morning on the 2A case. I don't see the general public caring so much about this case.  Roe V. Wade will bring a huge outcry though!

True! The media is hyper focused on SCOTUS overturning Roe possibly, very little attention to this groundbreaking case.

Anyone still think that someday you'll get the right to carry in NJ?

Is that all you do, come here to taunt us? We get it already! you moved out! If this is the only thing you contribute to the forums do me and others here a favor and stop posting! Besides, what the hell do these bills have to do with a landmark gun case pertaining to conceal carry? These bills died on the senate floor last year and that could very well happen again. Could they pass some or all of these bills? It's possible, we will deal with it when and if it happens. I suspect many of these bills will be modified a few times.

Any doubts now if NJ will go quietly into the night or go out kicking and screaming should the pending scotus case go favorably?

Let's see how broad or narrow the SCOTUS ruling is. SCOTUS may craft a ruling broad enough to deal with many of the attack strategies that NJ may have. Remember NJ can kick and scream but, SCOTUS is still of a higher power. Look at DC they got carry not too long ago didn't they? and that was only from an appeals court...

Ye of little faith let's take this one day at a time shall we.

What determines who writes the decision?

If Thomas is writing it, would it lean more in our favor?

    1. The majority ie if we go 6-3 or 5-4 on the case.

    2. YES, Justice Thomas has wrote very pro-2A things in the past in his dissents when his fellow judges refused to hear gun cases. In his last dissent he wrote something to the following effect "As we walk the marbled halls of justice with our private armed guards, the average person that works late nights has no sort of protection etc..." you get the idea, I want him to write the majority opinion.

This case was mentioned of Fox The Five. It was said that a ruling could come as early as tomorrow.

Anybody hear anything from other sources.

    Hoping for a good ruling.

I have not heard any rumors of an early verdict, but I will say a prayer tonight!

There was a rumor that we were going to get a ruling last Friday. Now all the cases from November except the one we're waiting for have been ruled on. Another rumor is that Judge Thomas is writing the decision.  All bets are on the end of June for the ruling.  The history has been that controversial rulings always come right before the summer break. That would be late June. I hope it does come earlier

I sure hope Clarence Thomas will be writing the majority opinion, that would be a pleasure!

Carrying a weapon off duty and stoned. What could go wrong?  LOL. Leave it to NJ to make stoned cops exempt and yet we still can't get a permit to carry but stoned cops are okay.  My God I'm glad I'm out of this state for good soon.

A bunch of people called into NJ101.5 this morning to complain about this exact same thing! I find this whole marijuana nonsense very upsetting.

You are really naive, aren't you.

Naive no, I know that there is no historical precedence of any state OPENLY DEFYING THE HIGH COURT! I already gave you a good example. Tennessee, Texas, Alabama etc....(50) now issue marriage licenses to gay couples per a SCOTUS ruling in 2016-2017 I believe. NJ would be no different with regards to CCW permits.

So honest question, what happens if they don’t?   What “forces” anyone to comply with scotus?

Civil rights lawsuits in which NJ would get clobbered in court. I know if no time in US history in which SCOTUS rules and a state just entirely ignores the ruling!

Saw an article that 5.56 is no more...army going to 6.8mm.

    Prolly.old news....

Yep, saw the article today. I think the article mentioned that we would be able to get the civilian round in "277 Fury". 5.56 and 223 Rem will still be standard fare for us civilians for quite a awhile.

It doesn't really matter. Gopher will say it doesn't apply to NJ. Cops will agree. You'll bankrupt yourself to stay out of prison.

That's bologna! States cannot ignore SCOTUS rulings period! An example would be when the high court ruled that gay marriage is covered under the 14th amendment, all states had to comply and issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

  11. It appears in this particular case the homeowner was not the good guy, but rather a low level drug dealer who happened to own a gun. We don't know if the gun was legally owned or not. We do know the charges though: Dillard is charged with possession of a firearm while engaged in drug activity, receiving stolen property, tampering with physical evidence and drug-related offenses, police said.

Even if he didn't have marijuana, he still may have been charged on "receiving stolen property" etc..

  12. Of the 50 states that form are great union, 25 are now permit-less carry,18 states are "Shall-issue" carry regimes and 7 are still "no issue" states. Essentially, 43 out of 50 states allow for civilians to carry with relative ease which totals 86% of the entire US. We (I)  still live in one of the 7 "no issue" states. NJ is simply wrong on this matter and on the wrong side of history! When will SCOTUS get off their asses and issue an affirmative verdict? It's been months already!

  13. My take on this is that Ed is a great guy and that this proposed bill is a nice gesture. He is sending "the love" so to speak, he's in our corner etc., I actually smiled and chuckled while reading this bill and I have to admit my imagination then ran away with me and I wondered "what could have been if only we had many more Ed Durr's in Trenton". Fantasy aside, this bill will be strangled and burned on the committee floor. I wouldn't be surprised if the politicians in Trenton take turns wiping their asses on the committee floor with this bill. Nothing that would give the common NJ citizen the effective means of protection outside the home will see daylight outside of committee. This WILL NOT  start a conversation among our legislators because they are vehemently against concealed/open carry and their decision towards issuance was made decades ago. Their malice and indifference towards us has spanned nearly 50 years in this State. Yeh, they'll converse with each other alright' WHEN THEIR PASSING PIECES OF THIS BILL BETWEEN STALLS!!  Realistically, The only way out of this would be a favorable ruling from SCOTUS to FORCE NJ to conform to a "shall issue" regime. We need the "coup de grace" not another 50 or 100 years of incremental change in our direction!

Thanks for the advice! It’s not going to be an everyday carry just for range days and what not. I don’t want to lose it like you said. I carry a P365 or Glock 43 everyday. I’ve held the Wilson and man it fees nice haha and I’ve shot the Staccato P and loved it but just looking for anyones input who has them or shot them.

I would go for the Wilson Combat. I just got the new Wilson Combat grip module for the 365XL Romeo Zero and yes "it is all that and a bag of chips" and yes, it's worth the 80 dollars with shipping. I am so impressed with how their grip module takes the Sig 365XL to the next level, I was saving up for a 1911 from nighthawk, but now I think I'll put my money on Wilson Combat.

Just moved to a major city in NJ from ny. Can someone clarify the  how and when to submit SP-66. My local PD is giving me conflicting answers

One officer says they dont take the form its  "all online now"

Another officers says "dont submit until u get a call from investigator"

Another officers says "you only submit if u live out of state or dual resident"

Another officers says  "its only required just it case something comes up in another state"

another officers "only put out of state address on form"

All from the same PD. And they all have a nasty rushing attitude, as if i want to come there in the first place

My wife was already forced to withdraw her application  for missing SP66-because she thought "it was all online"

I DONT GET WHY NJ JUST DOESNT STANDARDIZE PROCEDURES ACROSS THE STATE SO EACH PD FOLLOW THE SAME CLEAR PROCEDURE.

Is seems that the ambiguity on the who, what, when of this form is meant to delibrately dissuade a citizen from applying or cause that person to apply improperly

Welcome to the SHITSHOW! The cops in my town (Highland Park) called my employer multiple times to notify them that "I like guns" and god knows what other erroneous and irrelevant information. Best have a "sit down" with your boss if your currently employed.

Wow.. If those restrictions go into effect it is hard to imagine being able actively CCW on a regular basis.

in NYC you would need to walk or own a car.. (Can’t even car pool) to go anyplace.

When you get there you can not be around more then 15 people for almost any practical reason.

All eating and drinking establishment are forbidden so you can only be out in public with your CCW a few hours without needing to go home and eat………….

if they go that strict I would think the courts would eventually straighten them out.. As I mentioned D.C. and Illinois(Chicago) tried to play that game when they had  “Shall Issue” forced on them by them by the courts and got their ass handed to them in very short order… I doubt NY will be able to get away with anything too much more restrictive then they were able to…

These restrictions if passed will stop nothing. LOL, have you conceal carried in Florida, I have!  The point here is that those that want the option to conceal carry for self defense in NY/NJ will be going from NOTHING to SOMETHING! This is nothing more than NY "wildly flailing in the dark" so to speak in an attempt to stop the inevitable. Sure, NJ/NY will attempt to restrict where we can carry, but this is a positive sign that "just cause" regimes like NY and NJ may be coming to an end. 3 hours of conceal carry is better than the nothing i have now! Kapeesh!

New York State preparing to make carry as restrictive as possible in the wake of a SCOTUS decision?

YEP! Propably! in a way this is good news! it means that there century long death grip on conceal carry is starting to fade and that you/I/we will be conceal carrying in the near future. NJ may follow suit shortly as well.. though they will not be able to stop the inevitable.

                                                                # 3Pinned stock  makes no sense

What you have a NJ conceal carry permit? No one here has mentioned the elephant in the room, NO CONCEAL CARRY!! My issues are:

    1. NO CONCEAL CARRY

    2. NO CONCEAL CARRY

    3. NO CONCEAL CARRY

The flash hiders, pinned stocks are accessories that are subordinate to the interests of self-defense as you will never use deploy them outside the home. Capacity, I agree with you as we should not be limited to a mere 10 rounds to protect ourselves and loved ones. Our lives should not be worth less than that of a NJ LEO period! Still the fact remains though that the likelihood of having to defend yourself outside the home is greater than inside the home! The de-facto ban on CCW in this state is the greatest threat we face.
