    I'm glad I didn't read that while sipping my morning coffee, I might have choked to death. I haven't read this guy Petrolino before, is that supposed to be a joke, or does he live in some kind of fantasy land? Because my impression is that if someone kicked Matt Platkin hard in the jaw, Phil Murphy would become an instant eunuch.

    How will "admitting way more illegal aliens" "make up for us migrating"? Where are the NJ tax revenues going to come from after the productive citizens flee the state? Illegals who are not welcome in their native countries because they either have no skills, or are too idolent to earn a living? From what I'm reading, most of those illegals are on the dole, as well as being protected from the consequences of their frequent criminality. State can't dole out what it doesn't have, and what it does have to give out comes from taxing the likes of you and me. Maybe FedGov would try to increase Federal taxes in the areas the productive citizens are fleeing to, to redistribute to shitholes like the DemonCraps are making of NJ, but that will ultimately meet with a lot of resistance, and cannot be sustained. If they are as criminal as I have been reading, if they don't have us to victimize, they will be assaulting and killing each other. That doesn't make for a viable or stable tax base, either. I don't doubt that TPTB in NJ plan what you claim, but it is a very short-sighted plan, and imo doomed to fail.

    I have a huge, 38-year, accumulation of "stuff" at our home that never gets used, that I'd like to begin getting rid of. We haven't space or parking sufficient to hold a yard sale here. Listing those items individually on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace isn't feasible, there are just too many. There is a fairly large flea market every week-end on Delsea Drive in Vineland. I'm thinking about renting a table a few week-ends this Summer, and dragging some stuff out there using my pickup and a trailer. Nearly all of the transacitons at this market are for cash. It isn't in a horribly bad location for crime, but it isn't the best, either. The market is patrolled by private security, but I don't know how often, or if that outfit is any good. Bottom line is that, if I do this, I would be much more comfortable if I was armed. Does anyone see anything on the current NJ prohibited places list that could be reasonably construed as prohibiting carry at a privately run flea market, provided that there aren't any "No Guns" signs posted?

    >1 million gun owners - sounds like a lot. But as of the 2021 general election, there were ~6.5 million registered voters in NJ, of which ~2.6 million cast a ballot. So, if 100% of those gun owners were eligible to vote and did so, they would constitute ~15% of registered and ~38% of actual voters (the latter in an off-year). Also, how those voters are distributed can matter a great deal. Down here in South Jersey, we do a reasonably good job of voting Republican, at least as compared to the remainder of this state. There are 40 legislative districts in NJ. I'm not going to waste my time doing numeric analysis of every district, but the average number of residents (2020 census) is 116,181 each, so a majority, on average, would be 60,000. 60,000/1 ,000,000 is just under 17, or ~42% of those districts. So, by either set of numbers, statistically, NJ gun owners could, at most, possibly carry 38 - 40% of the legislature. Obviously, both those analyses are ridiculous oversimplifications, but it does give some indication of the practical maximum limits on the direct electoral influence gun owners can expect to exert in NJ. This is a prime example of why the Founders organized this nation as a Republic, not a direct democracy, and why the Bill of RIghts was enacted. Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting for the luncheon entree. Getting more gun owners to vote, and what little honest media remains to take note of that, is a laudible goal, but expecting that to provide some kind of ultimate solution to having our Constitutional rights rescinded by NJ is a forlorn hope.

    I don't mind ads to support the forum. But IMO auto-play with audio, and especially when it's redundant, is really annoying.

    Please consider stopping that. If I want to know about a product, I'll click on it.

    You could always use NoScript or a similar widget to selectively enable/disable JavaScript in your browser (caveat: don't know if that is possible with an Android phone or Chromebook). I only see video content on web sites if and when I choose to do so.

    Mr. Roldan wouldn't have any financial interest in the very first firearm to be included in the microstamping roster (and the one that all NJ firearms retailers will be required to carry), right? RIGHT!?

    This a colossally stupidity, and one more ridiculous, costly, imposition on NJ firearms dealers that will no doubt cause a few that were already marginally profitable to go under. That said, I don't see anything in the law that requires anyone to purchase such a firearm, the only requirement seems to be on dealers to make one available. Has there (yet) been any legislation introduced or proposed to make this mandatory? Not that I doubt that the assclowns are having wet dreams about doing that, just wondering if any of them have mentioned that aspiration.

    Yes, that is worth a try, but I'm skeptical it is the problem. If the OP is on a VPN he may also have JavaScript disabled, and should also try enabling that for the site. I am always on a VPN (Proton) with JS completely disabled when browsing. I selectively enable JS permissions (or  disable VPN, as a last resort) until a site or page functions adequately. My experience indicates that any security that bars VPN use is usually in place for an entire domain, not just a single page or document. I have been on both the NJSP.org site and the FARS site using my VPN with no issue, but I did not get to the point of downloading a permit. There is a possibility that the NJ FARS site hands the browsing session off to a third party domain (identogo, or the like) for download of the actual permit document, in which case VPN  (or JS) could be the problem for that site. That has happened to me when placing an online order for an item at a site, which then transfers me to a payment processor (e.g. Square) for providing credit card information. Even if this is so, it in no way excuses the abysmal, irresponsible, buck-passing horseshit that the OP encountered when trying to resolve the issue with NJ "authoratah"  :icon_mad:

    edited to add:  Yesterday, I received an long delayed (a story recounted elsewhere in these forums) email invitation from NJSP FIU to go to the NJPortal site to complete a reference form for a buddy's NJ Permit to Carry application. Actually, I got 2 emaii invitations, one right after the other (morons!) I completed the reference questionnaire while connected via my VPN, FWIW. So if there is any NJSP/NJPortal blocking based on an incoming IP address belonging to a VPN (or on an abuse list, blocking rationales vary) it probably is a third party contractor actually responsible, as speculated above.

    Generally agree, but could be subject to circumstances. I usually do what little drinking I do at home, or have someone else drive if I indulge while out, but there are a few occasions each year where I'll have one (literally!) small beer with a buddy at a place just down the road, then drive home. Were it not prohibited, I could see at least the possibility of carrying in that situation. Also, it would appear to me that if you locked your handgun away in your vehicle when you arrived at an establishment that served, imbibed there, and left it secured during the drive home, you would not be violating any firearms-specific regulations. Might be a grey area there since the vehicle lockup is under the pre-NJ CCW regs, and at that time you were not permitted travel deviations between points of origin and destination, but even if that was still technically applicable to the hypothetical situation, I don't know how high the risk of arrest or conviction would be if it came to light. I also think this is one of the restrictions most likely to be overturned during the various appeal cases. I'm doubtful that there will be very many situations found from the historical period where firearms bearers were restrictedform taprooms by law.

    SInce I am going to lunch today to a restaurant that does not serve alcohol, I thought it would be timely to find the actual statutary language:

    Note: this is one of the provisions that was axed by Judge Gladys Bumb in her orginal descion, but was reinstated pending appeal by an appellate court at the request of our buddy, Matthew Platkin <grrrrrr!!!> Anyway, it seems pretty clear to me that carry in a restaurant that does not serve alcohol or sell it for on-premise consumption is presumptively legal at this time.

    Yeah, I have an RPO buddy who is constantly telling me about how he is relatively immune from a lot of the NJ state firearms BS, as a result of LEOSA. If I asked him, I'm sure he would claim that he fully supports 2A, and that he isn't gloating about his situation, but sometimes his statements come across as pretty damned smug...

    I'm certainly NAL, but my understanding is that anyone who relocates to NJ needs to complete and submit the mental health check form. If, during that 2 year hiatus, you were a legal resident of NY State and not of NJ, my expectation is that the form will be required of you. I'd be very happy to be wrong about that, but don't expect any accomodations from NJ on strict interpretation of any firearms regulation, no matter how much sense those accomodations might make.

    So, I had more back-and-forth with my buddy. He had begun his application before the process was completely converted to FARS, and he made a couple of errors on it. Now, apparently the state will not allow him to just cancel his original app and begin again using the (theoretically, anyway) easier online process, he has to jump through hoops to get corrections made in his original app, and wait an inordinately long time for the state to reciprocate. I had similar issues on my application, since the permit granting process was shifted from the judiciary to NJSP Fiurearms Div while it was in process. As it a result, it took me nearly 8 months (and several certified letters that I am quite sure did not endear me to the recipients) to get my permit. Even if the innate NJ state government hostility to 2A is set aside, imo those bureaucrats could still eff up a nocturnal emission...

    Thank you!!! This is not for me, I already have mine (later stages of the old paper process). I think his problem was that he was doing web searches for the procedure, and finding obsolete and conflicting information (even on officiel NJ state sites). Also, of course, the NJSP station that covers his area did nothing to put him on the correct path (no surprise there, I share that station, and they were an impediment nearly every step pf the way for my application). I was tempted to tell him that the on-line process should be self-explanatory, but since I can't complete it until my renewal comes up, I had no way to verify that, and I was absolutely not going to risk piling more bad advice on him. Thanks again!
