  1. I like how everyone on here counts days and pounds their chest like they are actually going to do anything about any of these delays and/or processes. You have lived in NJ for years if not your whole life and if it were not for some BALLER from NY taking his case all the way to SCOTUS, you’d still be grumbling how it sucks not to be able to carry in NJ. STFU and wait your turn.
  2. NJSA 2C:39-5e(1) NJSA 18A:37-7 in my experience, the only people who get written permission are dist. employed armed security guards. Anyone else would have to pass the scrutiny and approval by the BOE and their attorney.
  3. Born/raised in SJ, I worked for Metro-Dade PD in the 1990s (Miami) and I had a letter from the NJSP stating I was not permitted to carry in NJ when I was home unless I was on official PD business. The same went for Philly/PA cops who would get done work late and shoot down to the Jersey Shore speeding in uniform on the ACE and the troops would ask them if they could take a look in trunk - of course they said NO.
  4. well let’s take a look. Can you carry at federally regulated areas like airports and court bldgs? no. Arizona? can’t carry in schools, liquor stores or any posted place. Kentucky? bars, liquor stores, and some government bldgs. North Dakota, no bars, liquor stores, or state bldgs. all 25 states have some sort of restriction. Constitutional Carry does not = unrestricted carry.
  5. i am told NONE have been issued in Atlantic. The first batch of hearings are tomorrow before Judge D’Arcy - and will continue every Thursday.
  6. what exactly do you find unacceptable? anyone should be able to carry a gun onto a military base or into a superior court building? to a giants game section 222, row 6 at metlife? Some guy who has an “official” clean criminal and mental history check, fancies himself a good shot after hitting 42 of 50 rounds on a Q target - has a second amendment right to strap on a gun and go anywhere he wants, anytime he wants? There are reasonable limits to everything in a civilized society.
  7. I share an office with a permitted RPO - showed him this list. He seems to think RPO have the same restrictions - with the exception of #8 & #9 - he thinks they are permitted to carry in bars, nightclubs - but cannot partake - i.e. #10.
  8. In my OPINION, if this even happened as stated, it was because this gentleman already had an investigative file on him with the county PO that contained questionable information --- in my OPINION, there is no way any county PO in NJ has the time and/or resources to do a deep dive like this for several hundred applicants in 30-35 days.
  9. someone called over there last week and was told no one has been issued. they are in a pile 200 deep. Judge D’Arcy is supposed to start issuing 10/6 and then every Thursday until caught up. Mine was brought over 9/9 and my MO was cashed 9/15.
  10. I don't think anyone has ever said you should have a permit in your hand within 60 days. If you read the statute (N.J.S.A. 2C:58-4), you submit your application to the local chief of police (or local NJSP barracks if you don't have a PD or are from out of State). The investigation by that agency must be complete and your application denied for cause or forwarded to the County Superior Court for approval within 60 days. Some say the 60 day clock starts when you submit the application to the agency, some say the clock starts once your fingerprint results are delivered to the agency and your application is truly complete. Once it arrives at the court, most are provided to the County Prosecutor's Office for review. Once the PO has no objection, the court typically issues the permit. If there are any hiccups, the judge can hold a hearing. There is a JAD court directive #06-19 (not a law or reg) that judges should review permit to carry applications submitted at least once every 30 days. A PO should state any objections they have within 14 days, and a permit should be issued or denied with 30 days. In theory, the process should take no more than 90 days, start to finish, notwithstanding "extraordinary circumstances." While I am sure the "system" suspected this as coming, they weren't officially notified until June 24, 2022. As a result, the system, from the local PD to the Judge, had previously dealt with a small handful of permit applications - mostly from armored car guards and security officers who presented with a letter of need. I don't think it is unreasonable for these agencies to develop new systems to handle the influx of permit applications flooding the system. Be patient, calling and complaining is not going to get them processed any quicker - they know what they need to do.
  11. I don’t know for sure, but the words “caught up” made me think yes, otherwise they could do them all in one day?
  12. ATLANTIC COUNTY UPDATE 9/21/2022 Judge assigned to admin/issue carry permits: Honorable Pamela D'Arcy 609-402-0100 ext 47420 fax: 609-826-7034 Atlantic County Criminal Courthouse 4997 Unami Boulevard, 2nd Floor Mays Landing, NJ 08330 200 +/- apps at the court 156 have GPA numbers ( GPA - ATL - 000 - 22 ) The balance (+/- 44) are incomplete in some way and will be sent back to applicant for corrections "Hearings" every Thursday until caught up, starting 10/6/22
  13. I just spoke to a Det. Sgt. from a Cape May County Municipal PD who has processed 10-15 in his town. He told me, "WHAT HE HEARD" (not gospel) was that for Atl. & CMC, the judges don't want to look at them and approve them - so what they are doing is having a clerk make a pile and once they hit 60 days or 90 or whatever it is, they are going to approve by default, not review and approve. He speculated that this might somehow give the judge an "out" if something goes down with the permit holder - i.e. Judge can say "I didn't review and approve it, It was automatically approved statutorily pursuant to N.J.S.A. 2C:58-4c." This is what he said - I am not stating this as fact !
  14. ATLANTIC COUNTY - I contacted my PD today (Absecon) was told they sent over a batch of apps to the Court on Friday, 9/9 including mine. It was day 65 for me - Not bad, all things considered. Fingers crossed it comes back in a timely.
