  1. How do they get your index print on the fid card then?

Doing one flat on the card doesnt take a certification.,, doing a READABLE Full card does. When I left, there were MAYBE 3 guys still working other than the Chief Himself that were certified to do ink cards.  Pretty much the only time anyone does ink anymore is on dead people...

  2. NYC uses 9mm.  So does San Francisco, although with 147 grain freight trains.  But I don't think I've seen anybody in NJ with less than a .40 cal.

There are some, probably around 30-40% use 9 another 40% use .40 and the rest use .45.  More agencies seem to be going to .45 when they switch guns lately.

  3. Sounds like they just didnt want your business enough.  ALL it takes to fix the capacity issue is a chunk of Broomhandle or Dowel the right diameter, and the length of 2 shells, $.30 worth of Epoxy and about 25 minutes for it to set. Take off the tube, coat the end of the Dowel in Epoxy, push it into the tube till it bottoms out, and wait for it to set....which is EXACTLY how Arms-N-Ammo did to several shotguns for members here over the years.  Some of these stores make it seem like frigging Rocket Science.

  4. Yeah mine was like that too when I originally got my FID. douche bags. Kills me the taxes I pay and I can't get a dn fingerprint.

Most places have been using electronic prints for over ten years, it is a significant possibility that there is nobody left that CAN Take ink prints anymore,

  5. Thanks for all the info fellas(and gracious offers to try out your guns)..I truly value your help..

    Here's where I' m at,

I use a 870P at work with pistol grip stock and am very familiar with it..it's pretty durable and easy to shoot but at my price point $500 area I won't come near the Police models..not saying the 870 Express Tac isn't durable..just not as " beefy" as the P model..

I've never handled a 500 or 590 but there seems to be a lot to like.., price, warranty, features and warranty are enticing..Steve at Monmouth arms offered to come in and handle the 590 he has in stock so I should take him up on that soon..

I just seem to be infatuated with these Bennellis for some reason(thanks KPD for making me jealous with that M2 )..I love the feel...they are easy to maneuver and point..feel pretty durbable..pricing is pretty decent(finding a dealer and availability isn't easy) and all the features I would ever need on a HD gun I can find on the market (pistol grip stock, mag extension, light mount, ghost sights and ammo saddle) ..parts and service would be the only issue for me as these aren't as popular as the Remmy and Mossy

So it looks like I'll toil over this for a little while before "pulling the trigger"..PICS will be up when I find my baby..

it was pure Luck....i had resigned myself to just getting a 930 for 3 gun, because i Couldnt find an M2 Tactical for under $1200, then a guy from one of the LE forums was looking to get rid of his M2 for $850. I think had PM'ed him almost before he finished his post.

  6. because an unpinned brake meets the criteria of threaded barrel under the heading flash hider or threaded barrel...

the following feature is an "evil feature"

a flash hider or a threaded barrel capable of accepting one... meaning if it meets at least one of these qualifiers then it is an "evil feature"

I am definitely not a lawyer... it is just the way I read it as they are all separated into line items..

I tend to err heavily on the side of caution when it comes to that stuff...Expecting Most NJ Prosecutors to act in a reasonable/educated manner on firearms issues is a losing proposition IMO.

  7. I've shot all 4 more "Modern" shotguns (870, 500, 590, Supernova) and my favorite is the Supernova..and this is coming from an old 870 guy.  I Lucked out and got my Supernova off the used rack at Cabelas, but it impressed me so much i just matched it with an M-2  A lot depends on whether or not you want to Tacticool it out or not...there just aren't the number of Doodads available for the Benelli as there are for the Remington and Mossberg, but the Benelli is a good, solid gun, and the more i played with it the more i liked that magazine cutoff button.  As someone else said though.  Try all of them, find the one that fits YOU..and screw what anyone else says you"Should" get.

  8. Robb Stark's wife in the books was Jeyne Westerling. In the the show he marries Talisa Maegyr. While the roles are essentially the same, Jeyne was left at Riverrun and Talisa went to the twins with Robb and met her demise at the rw. Most of Jeyne was not in the books so we assume they wanted an active love interest for the show.

Ramsay Bolton also never sent Theon's member, he sent a strip of skin from Theon's finger. The timing is off too. In the books Balon Greyjoy is long dead, but in the show Balon reads the letter and tosses it in the fire. Asha was not happy about Theon but she wasnt about to go rescue him. It all becomes moot after Asha flees deepwoods motte. I guess in the show she and theon will end up where the books put them just that Asha got there a different way.

I liked the Gendry swap. It simplified some things. The whole bit about Davos and the little girl was to give Davos more air time and it worked. These types of changes are for the better.

I agree, they have to cut so much to compress the book into a season that simplification of some of the plot lines is needed..however, by NOT Finishing out the book this season, and leaving out 2 incredibly important scenes, it is going to impact the next season and book, either by making it longer (Good thing) or having to cut even More..BAD thing

  9. In my opinion it doesnt look that the new IWI Tavor needs anything done to it to make it NJ legal

it accepts a detachable magazine but it doesnt have 2 more of the mentioned features no collapsible stock, the pistol grip is not below the action, the 16 inch model doesnt have a bayo lug, & no grenade launcher the only thing it has is a flash suppresor

    what says you people

True...but it ALSO has a threaded barrel, if the FH isnt pinned..so "Out of the Box" it has 2 evil features  if you can unscrew the muzzle device then it counts as two....YEAH it's stupid...but it is what it is

  10. Ok. Good point on the Sansa plot. You get a taste for the up and down in the series but they sold it better in season 1 and 2.

My problem is I can't remember what happened in which book and keep thinking the tv series has glassed over or changed something when it just hasn't happened yet.

Simple fact is that Because HBO does such Elaborate productions, their Production COSTS are huge..whuch is why they tend to make short seasons like this..to REALLY do justice to the story they'd be better off with 15 or 20 episode seasons, but it doesnt fit the HBO Model.  the Two biggest changes were the substitution of Gendery for Stannis' bastard, and the inclusion of Rob's Wife in the RW.  The first i dont mind because it leads into some of what happens between Stannis and Davos without trying to add more backstory.  Including the wife in the RW kind of closes off that whole branch of the family which is still very much alive, although relegated to deep background in the books, to be resurrected eventually i would assume.  One question for anyone who has read the books more recently than I, I dont remember Theon being Gelded by Reese Bolton..was that added in, or did it just slip my mind???

  11. has anybody even heard of the store before???   wonder if it's going to turn out to be something stupid, like too much BP without a LEUP (Low Explosives User's Permit) which is required IIRC if you are storing more than a certain amount of BP..nevermind the approved Magazine for storage

  12. i forget the website but there is a guy in russia that has been selectively breeding tame foxes since the 70s i believe. he sells them but they are not cheap. im pretty sure they cost about $8000 and i believe you need a permit to have them imported.

on another note people need to realize that foxes are predators. while i dont condone killing for the sake of killing, i do condone controlling the population of predators. if you happen to enjoy hunting then so be it. i happen to enjoy hunting and would love to bag the fox that has been terrorizing my buddies chickens and have it stuffed.

Yeah they're frigging Houdinis when it comes to getting through wire into coops

  13. That is what the charges would seem to indicate, but considering the DC-9 was manufactured as a semi-auto, I have my suspicions. I'm thinking that the police haven't actually tested to see if it was FA yet and made a mistake. Looks can be deceiving.

It doesnt exactly take an engineering degree to function-check a firearm to see if it's FA or not.

  14. actually the possession is illegal since they do not fall under any exemption for transportation. i would say he got lucky they didn't tag that charge on.. The illegal transport infraction probably has to do with the rifles not being secured.

Funny though.... i just finished lunch and was puffing on my e-cig outside of work the other day and an LEO rolled up on me... i actually almost took off cause he was in plain cloths, saw a shadow walk up to my passenger side window turn around and then walk to the back and around my car to my driver side.. i was watching the side view mirror and right before i made the decision to take off ,i saw the badge on his waist... he was a nice guy, someone called the cops on me! we got a good chuckle and i thanked him for taking the time to check out the situation, even if it was over nothing..

And SOME dipstick is going to ask you if your Chains wear lightly, or insult you in some other way in 3....2.....1

  15. Now that you mention it I do remember hearing about a doctor in South Jersey with NFA weapons. This was from a reliable source in the 90s.

I was referring to the true value of the gun not the inflated prices caused in 1986. Prior to this you could buy a STEN for a few hundred dollars. Limiting FA weapons was a comprimise to get FOPA passed. The end result is a perfect example of supply and demand

Although I see little true need for FA, even for LE, I can't see why you shouldn't be able to have one. State laws aside, if you meet the criteria for buying a firearm from a FFL you can get a NFA weapon.

Shawn, I'd also be interested in what kind of business someone is in to have a legal privately owned FA weapon in NJ. IIRC the applicant has to prove to the judge something like "how the interests of the community would be served" by you owning a FA weapon.

If you have an FFL for selling NFA weapons you can "own" them because of the FFL.

It wasnt until 2C was adopted in the early 80's that MachineGuns were so heavily restricted here, before then, as long as you passed the NFA background you could have your Happy Switch  Hell it was easier in the 70's tpo get an MG than a Carry permit.  I would be surprised if there were more than a dozen Non FFL/SOT  MG owners in the state today, and i have no doubt at all that their names would be easily recognizable as Politicians or celebrities.
