  1. Here's a little brain teaser:

This question only applies to factory produced firearms and commercially produced ammunition. That being said - there was one firearm model that was only chambered in this one caliber. It was the only gun, from all manufacturers, that was ever chambered for this caliber.

Name the gun and/or the caliber (if you get the one you will know the other).

    Have fun.

    Adios,

This really wasn't a thread hijack was it? - Seems applicable to the title.

  2. Oh I know about the issues with Century firearms, some of the early products were fine but I've heard about them putting parts in backwards or missing/damaged parts, bad fit and finish, etc.

If I'm spening $1K on a Century I want to hold it in person and check it for any problems before spending that kind of money, I have shot Century products that were fine out of the box and had no issues with parts or fit and finish so it's rolling the dice quality wise.

Exactly..i still remember the run of AK's with the canted front sight /gas blocks

  3. the shotgun loads from the tube above the buttstock?

Yep..IIRC you can swap out tubes as well for fast reloads, although to my knowledge they never actuially ever marketed spare tubes for the things... We demoed one way back when...it never took off and only a few hundred were ever made if im not mistaken.  It's in the same family as that Remington pump-action rifle based on the 870 that took AR magazines.  A desperate attempt to come up with a Patrol rifle without going EBR..in the end the AR won out.

  4. hmm i don't see many reviews for patriot. are they good quality? also, how do most of you transfer the safe from curb into the house?

I Love mine..the quality is superb   .it comes really well packed in cardboard and straps on a pallet, delivery guy brought it up into the middle of my driveway. a Couple of neighbors helped me get it in the house.  I was lucky that one of them had a work truck with a left gate so he was able to get it right to my porch and we just rolled it in

  5. Wow!!! That UC-9 looks nice!

Even if it has a lug that could be ground off easily.

Just trying to find a NJ FFL could be a problem, sure the one in PA is OK with the Norinco but the drive is going to kill my back lol

it SHOULD be...but it's also Century..Caveat Emptor..find other people who have had them and shot them and get a read on the general quality before pulling the trigger....CAI has had......."Issues" in the past let's say

  6. Deadly force is Deadly force is Deadly force.  if you discharge a firearm in that situation YOU ARE USING DEADLY FORCE. If You fire a warning shot..guess what,  you didnt have the Justification to use Deadly force in the first place, or you would have used it on the Actor. PERIOD.

  7. I havent watched the video yet but the article is all guilt by association, ad hominim, and slander. Someone is doing something real and everyone criticizes him. Sorry I still support him. This government needs to remember it is supposed to fear the people. What he is doong is protected by the constitution.

All i see is "we gotta do something! But not that... That is too risky and scary."

Again  Please EXPLAIN how  Blatantly committing a felony which will strip you of your 2nd amendment rights FOREVER makes any sense whatsoever.

  8. Final update - Success!

I was finally able to get the brake off of the barrel, basically what happened is my grandfather tightened the screws so much a that the screws bit into the metal causing the hole in the barrel to slighty deform

This was what I was catching so as soon as I removed and cleaned up the end I took a diamond dremel and slightly shaved down the deformed area so flush with the rest of the barrel

It now slips on and off like a charm!

So I finished cleaning up the brake (had to remove a ton of lead!) put it together and hopefully soon I'll take this down to the range

    Thanks for all the help!

Glad to see you were able to get it apart.  they are superb Pistols, and surprisingly simple to take down as compared to say a Ruger Mk-1.  I have a Mitchell Arms copy of the Victor model HS that is scary accurate.  Id love to use it for steel, but magazines are hard to find, and $40-50 when you do

  9. Faxed over or called in doesnt matter once we sign our name the clock starts ... If they receive no answer after three days that is pending and by law can hand over your gun...

Sorry but you are 100% Wrong.  NJ is what is called a "Point of Contact" state.  the FFL does NOT do the Nics Check.  They submit the information to NJSP, who then Institute the NICS E-check.  the FFL has ZERO contact with  the FBI NICS System.

  10. Because LGS write down on the permit the day you bought the pistol not the day NICS clears. So lets say i "bought" my pistol 4/16 .. But i took it home 4/30... The date on my permit says 4/16 not 4/30... So i went to my LGS 5/17 to buy another pistol ... Exactly 31 days after i bought the last one ... Totally legal.. And i wont need any extensions...

Nope, the 30 day clock starts at the point of TRANSFER, which is when the NICS is approved and you pick the gun up, NOT when you drop the permit off.  If the FFL is having you sign the permit before the NICS is in they are wrong

  11. +1 GRIZ, this is not a straw purchase. A Straw purchase is defined and I quote:

A straw purchase is an illegal firearm purchase where the actual buyer of the gun, being unable to pass the required federal background check or desiring to not have his or her name associated with the transaction, uses a proxy buyer who can pass the required background check to purchase the firearm for him/her. It is highly illegal and punishable by a $250,000 fine and 10 years in prison.

What is described by AlDente67 does not meet the definition of a straw purchase. I highly recommend as others have to run the transaction through an FFL. The bottom line is the buyer will not take possession of the firearm unless they are fully qualified, have the proper permit, and pass a NCIS check.

Read question 11a on the 4473 closely.

  12. Some would think this a straw purchase but its not as the transfer takes place between two qualified purchasers. He can buy the handgun but it must remain. In his possession until you get a P2P and then he can transfer the gun to you. No FFL required but you must have the P2P.

This is not a straw purchase. A straw purchase is when you buy the gun for someone who is not qualified to purchase a firearm.

If you buy your wife a firearm for her birthday you can check you are the actual purchaser of the firearm on the 4473 because you are. As long as you both have FIDs and complete COEs or she has a P2P when you give it to her its legal.

I think ATF uses a "gift" as an example in their FAQ.

Nope Griz..by the letter that is Absolutely a Straw Purchase......for years the ACCEPTED Definition was that it was only a straw purchase if it was for a Prohibited person, however that has been stopped in the last 20 years.  It was a common..INCREDIBLY Common in fact, practice here at one time.  In fact if you were under 21 and could not purchase a handgun from an FFL, it was not even blinked at when you walked into the LGS with your over 21 buddy and filled out both P2p's on the spot.  Just like most good things, Common sense has been taken out of the system.

  13. It is hard to believe this was real life..  unbelievable that their can be so many incompetent people in this surrounding area.

They need to hire a few mare andy's and less barney's...

I found a portfolio of their sheriffs  dept.. Funny how they all look alike,,

    http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=barney+fife&qpvt=barney+fife&FORM=IGRE

Where's the incompetence Tony???  Once again if they dont HAVE the Bodies, who do you send?  We get WAY too used to what amounts to instant response here.  In MOST of the country the wait time for Police response is upwards of 30 Minutes for an emergency call, when you have one or two deputies working an entire county, this is the stuff that happens

  14. Most of those TGI Fridays must be owned by the same person....

Funny thing is that they are Still BUYING the real stuff though..so where is it going?  Company I do part-time security for is the Distributor for all their Liquor, and the salesmen whi the TGI accounts are constantly picking up cases upon case of high/mid end booze for those Restaurants above and beyond the truck deliveries.

  15. [geek] It's a Grond gun![/geek]

    :)

That was started by Mark Krebs in the 90's (around 1997 maybe) as a side project to try and dress up a slide that was not spec/deformed on a custom build. I don't think it was ever finished. Don't even know how he would get a barrel bushing in there.

No bushing, uses a bull bbl and a plug for the recoil spring..something like that they use for the Defender-style compacts.
