  1. I was in the area of Cheyenne Mt. yesterday so I stopped in for a look see. They had a good selection but I noticed prices were at or above MSRP for a lot of their stock. So my question is this... Where does everyone shop? I hear all kinds of stories of great deals here and there. Are these all on used guns? Whom do you guys trust. I like to hold what I am about to buy and am a little...um.. gun shy about Gun Broker. I made a few purchases at Brick Armory but am wondering where everyone else goes. Thanks.

  2. Hey Lunker,

I was thinking of the Marlin in .357 also. Legacy Firearms in Wall has one for $630 (NIB SS barrel). I have no idea whether that is a fair price or not. Any thoughts? Has anyone dealt with Legacy before?

  3. :x Quick update on DAY 65... App still with Lt. getting reviewed prior to Chief's signature. For my last permits it took two weeks after "it was on the Chief's desk" So at least two more weeks at best I am imagining. I'll just take some patience pills I guess. anyone got any? UGH! The most aggravating part is I can do nothing but wait. Oh well...

  4. I will actually be there tonight. First time in months. Can I be a pain in the a** and ask if anyone has either a Beretta 92FS or a Sig P226 that htey bring it tonight? Either one will probably be next purchase. Also, Wolfy if you're going could you bring a well tuned revolver so I can feel a smooth trigger? Thanks and see you all tonight.

  5. I subscribe to American Rifleman but go to the bookstore for American Handgunner and Guns all the time. I have to subscribe soon... It's much cheaper. Being new to this hobby, I like all the information I am getting. The interesting thing is I went back to read some issues from a year ago and articles made a lot more sense now that I have some trigger time under my belt. BTW, my wife thinks I'm nuts. Gun mags and books all over the place.

  6. OK I need to weigh in and vent. I applied for three handgun permits on August 25th. The 50th day is tomorrow. Sad thing is when I got my originall FID and two pistol permits it took eight weeks... So in Jackson it takes just as long to do subsequent handgun permits as it does for the original FID... I was told two weeks ago and today that it is on the lieutenants desk and is being reviewed. After that it still has to get signed by the Chief! Waiting for OGAM anyone? Ok venting over. I'll continue to wait.... Again.

  7. So I am thinking of trying some competitive shooting or at least taking some tactical classes where a holster is required. Is there anywhere in NJ where I can try a few before purchase? To make things more difficult, I am left handed. I have: Ruger GP100, Springfield XdM in .40SW (comes with RIGHT handed holster...No plans for offering a lefty). In the next few weeks I will be the proud owner of a Kimber Custom Crimson Trace 1911 and hopefully a Beretta 92FS. (Waiting on permits 26 days). I looked on the web and there are all kinds of things available. A little guidance would be appreciated.

  8. Well I knew it... As soon as i got in this morning i found out i was needed at a meeting tonight at 7. Probably won't get out of it until 9 or 930. I will not be there. Thanks Wolfy but i will miss the well tuned revolver. Damn.

  9. I will try to make it. I was off all last week so my first day back at the office may be nuts...Could someone bring a nice smooth operating .38/.357 revolver for me to try?? (hint: Wolfy? ;) . I have the Ruger GP100 and am thinking about a trigger job but I have no idea what a smooth revolver action really feels like...

  10. Quick question: Do you all disassemble, clean, and oil your brand new handguns prior to the first time you shoot? Is this necessary or just a good practice to make sure everything is in working order? I have three permits coming and will be a huge impulse buyer when they finally arrive. Will I have to take a trip home to clean/inspect first?

  11. So I was off this week and chose Wednesday as my trigger day. After I was done I hung out in the showroom for a while to shoot the breeze and ask questions as I have three permits coming "soon". I have to say that Milton was very helpful. Not once did he have a know it all attitude with me. Made me feel very comfortable and unintimidated. I have had experiences at other places and for other interests (fishing, woodworking etc.) and a lot of times the 'tude is very off-putting. So if it costs me a few extra dollars on my next purchase, so be it. The customer service is worth it. Thanks BA and thanks Milton

  12. Wow... So I started this thing a few weeks ago never thinking it was going to get to 8 pages. I am awaiting permits and I saved a good amount of cash since I first got the urge. My next question is...For the higher end models (say $1200 to $2000) is there a long waiting period? Should I start inquiring now about getting one? Permits are from Jackson and I was told it will probably be two weeks. My FID took 8 earlier this year. I was going to request quotes through the forum to give the business locally. Any thoughts?
