  1. If you have had a first steps or NRA basic pistol class then a second recommendation for GFH Urban Pistol 1&2 which will really build on fundamentals.

Joe Sente and Charles "Chuck" Mollineaux are top notch, real world, no bs instructors.

I've also taken Pistol Combatives 1-4 with Chris Fry of Mdts. He is an excellent instructor and his courses are challenging. Nothing in the area soon, but perhaps next year he'll come down again.

You can check out his site: www.mdtstraining.com which also has a plethora of helpful information under the articles section.

  2. The pull is also at 4.5# as well which I'm very pleased with.

Yeah, the sight tool wasn't necessary, but I couldn't resist the shiny.

I didn't replace the springs yet as I like to do one swap at a time to see how it affects function and trouble shoot if necessary.

The springs will be next after I fire it with the new ram. (Already shot with the sear).

I did end up pulling the thumb safety off as non of my other pistols has a manual safety and it was interfering with my grip.

I'm so pleased with the results I don't understand why S&W doesn't ship them this way.

  3. I've shot several M&Ps, and while the trigger wasn't anything special, I didn't find them to be terrible either.

Last permit I picked up a M&P 45 and the trigger on this particular pistol was extremely mushy, gritty, and inconsistent, though not particularly heavy. I read about the D/CAEK put out by Apex Tactical and ordered one expecting hype.

After installation, which took about 40 minutes total due to my slow pace, the grit is gone, the pull consistent, and sear release crisp with a more noticable reset.post-1610-0-98749200-1348604904_thumb.jpg I didn't replace the trigger springs

I used a 1/8" pin punch, a mallet, a vise, and the universal Hand gun sight tool which I needed to remove the night sights to access the ram.post-1610-0-38748100-1348604539_thumb.jpg

While I'm at it I would also like to give a little praise for Fisher Solutions the company that makes the Universal sight tool as their delivery was quick, and the product is easy to use, and built rock solid.post-1610-0-30762000-1348604731_thumb.jpg

Overall I'm very pleased with the Apex kit.

  4. I recently bought a Gen 4 Glock 19 and overall I love it, BUT unlike the Sigs or Beretta's I shoot I find I have to shift my grip to actuate the mag release. So my question is are these a good idea, and if so which make has a good reputation?

  5. I'm in for a first time IDPA experience. I've done one USPSA event before so the concepts of the 180 line, finger, and muzzle discipline make sense. One question I have is about tactical reloads. Are magazines expected to be replaced into carriers/dump pouch during a cof or is it permissable to eject them onto the floor and retieve after the range is safe?

  6. I thank you for the feedback everyone. It was the first time I've experienced this and was just wondering if it was common or a new standard. I understand a business not wanting folks to mistreat their merch and with guns especially the 'break it you bought it' ethic is difficult if not impossible to enfore outside of court.

I have been to many stores that asked to see my DL and FID. I had staff politely request I not dry fire, use slide release, or really operate any controls besides hold it. I must respect all of this because it's not my business. While I was a bit disappointed a local business seems to operate this way I don't wish them ill will. As a person in sales who makes their living through sales I understand the concept of "tomorrow dollars" and I can't say I'm inclined to spend mine there.

If mods feel it is appropriate please close this.

    Thanks again.

  7. I'm have permits pending so stopped in at Sportsman's Rendezvous in Flemington today to check out their selection of pistols.

The gentleman behind the counter asked if he could help me and I explained I was pending permits and wanted to feel the difference between grip on an M9 and Px4. Pretty much before I can finish saying this he tells me he can't allow me to touch the guns without permits in hand. I explained I had my Fid and Dr. Lisc with me, but he just kept up with the "I can't." I just said "if that's your policy I'll have the respect that" and walked out. The lady next to him did offer to measure the grip width for me, but his tone really was off putting. A shame because they are close and competatively priced.
