    dad walks in... sees what he thinks is a rape/struggle.... runs to get gun.

     

    Teen knows father saw him... makes for pants and window.....

     

    Father returns with handgun... shoots to kill intruder that is going out the window that he thinks just hurt his little girl.

     

     

    Tragic mistake and sad. How many times a day does something just like this happen to our LEOs... to shoot or not to shoot. I actually think the girl has alot of the reponsibility here, her bf, her bad decision to sneak her bf in, bad decision to engage in sexual activites at her age in her parents home and for not stopping her father ASAP.

     

    Just sad.

     

     

    Why didn't the daughter say "DAD NO" or anything like that.

     

    This wouldn't have happened in NJ...it shouldn't have happened ANYWHERE, this guy or daughter should pay for killing this kid. Totally unjustified.

    Doubt it will happen...as funny (or pathetic) as it sounds, illegals are gaining too much politial power for most people to stand up against.

    This happened to us unfortunatly.

     

    Had a racoon in our yard during the day (not typical, they are nocturnal) so we called the police to kill it. They said call animal control, guess what, animal control said to call the police. After going back and forth we ended up having to kill it ourselves. If we had a gun, I would have shot the poor thing instead of having to melee it to death :(

    I'm not a LEO and I'll wait till one of them posts.. but I'm pretty sure nobody is getting a warrant on the side of the road.

    Seriously though, i think "probable cause" allows LEOs to search cars without a warrant.

    And so what? If in the 1 in a million chance they actually get a warrant, they will find (I hope) a legally owned and cased firearm. Nothing they can do about it, unless you lied about it (refusing a search is not lying).

    I dont think you have an obligation to advise them you have firearms in the car.

     

    In fact if you do I remember reading something that the po po then has the right to inspect them to ensure you are properly storing and transporting them.

     

    Why invite the man into you life? Not a good idea even if you are in the right.

     

     

     

    Exactly. Unless they specifically ask you "do you have a firearm in the car" I wouldn't open my mouth about it. It might turn a 30 second stop into a whole ordeal making sure it's yours, sealed correctly, yadda yadda yadda. No thanks

    I worked for Verizon wireless for several years and my big fear would be that they gave a watered down pay to play version. Similar to what they did when bluetooth became popular. They lock all the applications so you have to pay and use the ones they sell. I know that the big thing now is that Verizon would want a cut of the Itunes profits made from VZW Iphones. I don't think that would happen. I'm interested to see how this pans out.

     

     

    That brings up a good point, it was rumored one of the reasons why apple didn't go with verizon (along with the network) was how they handle their phone like your example.

    WSJ report says that Verizon is supposed to come out with a 4G system later this year. Apple is talking of producing a CDMA phone for the Verizon network.

     

     

    I've heard that rumor since the first iphone came out. As I said above, you have the highest chance of seeing an iphone once verizon has 4g in the majority of america (still a few years off)

    Fact of the matter is your not going to change the attitudes of adults. If / when the day comes that children grow up in NJ with firearms, then CCW will be realistic. Seeing as how we are one of the bluest states in the nation (not that ever liberal is against guns, quite the opposite really -- it's just you have the farrrrr left wingers that want to ban everything and tax everyone 100%) I don't see it happening.

    Still in committee. Will probably never come OUT of committee. But keep calling, writing etc and letting your representatives know that you want this.

     

    When did it move to the committee? Last I heard they were still on the desks of our politicans waiting to be moved to the commitees?

    My town is the same way (one detective) though he is very open and fairly easy to get in contact with.

     

    Price honestly depends on the PD, some charge you for their time and others just charge you what the state charges them. I live in one of the lucky towns where it only costs 18 dollars for "unlimited" permits where others pay 18 + 2 dollars for each additional permit. Find out first because they only accept money orders so it'd be a pain in the ass to get it only to find out it's incorrect.

     

    Some food for thought, since 1 gun a month, you might have a hard time getting more then 3 or so permits depending on your PD...

     

     

     

    yeah, nj sucks. BTW, you wouldn't happen to be dave would you? :)
