  1. Gura's whole contract with the second amendment society is based on him arguing these cases all the way to the SC. He works at a reduced rate in return the SAF agrees not to switch attorneys if it hits the supreme court. So the way I see it Gura understands he will lose more cases then he wins. His sole intention is to get to argue before the supreme court. That being said he cleaned the AG's clock in the appeal. There was no way I could see them ruling against him. But the panel did just that and in doing so made themselves look foolish. My thoughts are they are political hacks more then protectors of the constitution so it probably does not bother them doing a hatchet job to the law the way it would bother most decent people.

But I'm sure they did not sleep well for a few days knowing they threw the laws of this nation under the bus.

  2. I just posted the NJ.com article on my Facebook, and stated that it would be very awkward if the founding fathers intended for "keep and bear arms" to only pertain to your home.  A former coworker of mine commented back and said:

do you realize how old that amendment is...most of the constitution was written before the civil war...i think time has changed alot...but we are still going by rules over 224 yrs old....doesn't make sense

People are such idiots.  I don't even know what to say back to her.

Nothing you say will sway that person. However my reply would be that people born today are exactly the same is those born back then. They have the same qualities and faults. 2A is there to dampen the faults and enhance the qualities among society.

  3. Point well taken but at the end of the day, when the state is running low on tax paying citizens (both income and property), maybe they'll wake up to the reality of their actions.

Not a chance. Its works like this working people fled the cities. Now the cities are leaning on the suburbs with things like the Abbott laws and shared services.

Now some of the suburbs are failing so cities (Trentonc Camden) are leaning on the state tax payers. That is why its so important to stop places like Detroit from being bailed out by the feds. Liberals will never stop spending and wasting money as long as they can get more from the tax payer.

NJ is doomed to follow this path. We are outnumbered by liberals who wont stop spending

  4. The pattern in North Carolina has been that the areas where the retirees move from the liberal Northeastern states have become more conservative, at least in their voting.

Over presidential election cycles since 1996, the areas of the state where the "old" North Carolinians live have become bluer -- but not as fast as the coastal areas that attract retirees have been getting redder.

Florida probably attracts a more liberal demographic from the Northeast than the Carolinas do.

Still, none of this migration of people, skills and wealth bodes well for the future of ultra-liberal states in the Northeast -- New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey.

No salt trucks in the winter and no frost heaves?

Florida's recent voting pattern is a little disturbing to me.

My wife has expressed some interest in Florida However, two of her brothers live in NC and the drive from NJ is longer, so Florida is a less likely choice.

And no huge pension costs for there Govt workers. I Just was listening to my State Trooper neighbor cry that he has to pay 9% toward his pension.

I pointed out that  Trooperspay no social security tax so the actual number is 3%. Then he started blubbering about how it did not matter cause when he started out it was free and how NJ broke iit's promise to him.LOL My response was see if he could get me a deal like that. Factor that in times 100,000 workers plus cities like Camden and Newark where 78% of the population is on the dole and you get rusty bridges.

  5. Can't wait to wipe my feet of this place. The laws suck both Gun laws and others. Taxes are off the charts for what we get in return. This so called shared services thing everyone seems to love is just another way of transferring wealth from the workers to the deadbeats. If it gains traction it will be a horror.

Then look at Detroit and there unfunded pension obligations then ccompare it to ours. That alone will tell you that taxes will skyrocket in the future.

I do love where I live. However the ink wont even be dry on my reretirement papers when I'll be heading out of here.

My only hope is I can convince my daughter to get out as well. There is no future in a place where the politicians ignore the will of the working people and always find the answer is raising taxes.

  6. Do not fill out the Voluntary Registration Form. The others do not ask what guns you possess. Newly acquired Handguns while a NJ resident will be put in a database. The COE info is not given to the .gov. Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2

Ha! Given the depth of Fed spying on everything rest assured the feds have permanent records of every gun bought in stores in the last ten years for sure.

  7. I once drove a cat 235 track excavator right down braodway at 5 in the morning without an escort. A cop pulled along side and screamed at me what the heck are you doing.

I replied going to a job about 5 blocks up. He smiled and said dont kill no one kid and took off. I was a kid back in 1990.LOL

    I love NY :)

  8. Are you using the .223 mount!? It has a built in angle... of 20 moa.. so your going to have to put a a lot of adjustment into the elevation at 50 yards..

I mounted my Nikon using a burris PERP, at 50 yards i was on a 10x10 target first shot from factory zero (low right) adjusted the scope up and left, adjusted it every shot until i was hitting the bullseye consistently. You really shouldn't need a boresight at 50 yards, but i will absolutely agree it can save time and money on ammo..

Not that it makes much of a difference but i shoot from the bench with a bipod.

You can also use Nikons calculator to zero for any distance you want.. print out a target break out a ruler and make your own reference points.

No I'm not using the 223 mount. Not sure what mount it is.But not the 223 as I know what it looks like

  9. Wow sort of like cooking soup!! Everyone has a different style. Being a newbie to rifles I did not stand a snowballs chance in heck of getting it in the first 20 rounds.

That makes me feel better. I had the scope set to 100 yards with a windage of zero. The wind was blowing at around 3-5 mph at times from left to right.

I was off the paper at the 7 o"clock position by about five inches but I could not tell at the time cause my cardboard backing has a billion holes in it from my pistols.

I have a nice bench. The barrel rests in a padded v, the back (stock ) is free so elevation is tricky. But each trigger pull I put  the scope crocross-hairsght on the bullseye.

  10. Or the 25... ;) set up at 25 yards and zero it so you are hitting about 1.5" below your aiming point. Then set your target at 100 yards and confirm zero.

Out of curiosity, why did you choose a 100 yard zero?

Being new to the rifle range. I really did not know I could set up at 25 yards at CR. Plus everyone else was at a 100 so the thought of moving closer never occered to me.

  11. Went to CR today with my new to me stag arms 2 AR. Ive owned it a couple of years and never fired it.

It has a Nikon 223 scope. So I put on a shoot n see target and put it out on the 100 yard range.

set the scope to 100 yards and using my bench rest fired 20 rounds. I hit the target not one time.LOL

I did manage to hit the target frame knocking off one of the wing nuts that help lock the legs down.:)

After 20 rounds I was so embarrassed I tucked my tail between my legs and slinked off :(

Anyone have a good link on zeroing a scope.Or just a plain intro to shooting with a scope.

  12. Just fired off a letter to her. I know it will get filed in the round bin.But what the hay

"I was just informed that you joined this anti second amendment group of leftists.
In dealing with you as a client and a voter I must say you never struck me as being way to the left in politics. Therefore I assume you really joined this group without really knowing to much about them. I urge you to become more informed about groups such as these before signing on to join them. They may be fashionable in certain democratic circles. But those circles do not reflect the beliefs and values of most of the people in this town. So I ask that you quit this group till you learn more about there radical agenda.

And while I have your ear say NO!!!! on anything for any reason on sewers down main street. If I want a urban downtown I will travel or move to an area that has one.
Lets keep Oakland's small town atmosphere. That's why we moved here and your grandkids will thank you for doing that one day.
    Best wishes"
