  1. We have or had them in town and in the Ramapo mountains. They took a few dogs and even broke into a house. I used to hear them howling when sitting on my deck at night.

Then about a year ago they vanished no more howling.Or reports from my town or the surrounding area aboiut them. It's a pretty wealthy area up in the mountains and I always wondered if they pulled some strings or hired out to have the problem resolved?? But I've not herd of them in going on two years now. But I just saw a Bobcat last week and bear are common around here. Natures making a comeback as people around here longer then myself say ten or so years ago there were not even deer around this area.

  2. Dogs are definitely are in the bobcat's food chain.  Keep your dog on a short leash as attacks on humans are very rare unless the bobcat is sick.

You should contact animal control, chances are they will have you call Fish and Game.   You shouldn't be seeing the bobcat at all.  They are very reclusive and should only be glimpsed off in the distance in the woods or far from houses.

Well I'm not in the woods. I'm in a suburb. 1/2 acre lots. But less then a mile away are the mountains. So its not unusual to see animals. 2 years ago a coyote was in a basement around the block trying to make a den. The police came and chased it out. Both sightings were in the 630-7 am time. Does that mean it was wrapping up and headed back to the mountain or it it bedded down. I do have 10 acers of forest behind me surrounded by houses.

  3. I was talking to the Guy next door last week. He told me he saw a Bobcat at 7 am right in the middle of the street.

This morning Thurs (9/12) I was out on my deck at 630 am when I let my dog out and sure enough I caught it out of the corner of my eye leaving my yard.

I waited a while just looking around waiting for any movement then I saw it clear as day walking briskly between my neighbors houses,

Watched it for a few seconds as clear as day.It was lighter in color then the pictures I have seen of them, But I have not one doubt it was one. I live right at the foot of the Ramapo mountains so bears and stuff like that are common. Coyotes too .But A bobcat!!

Wow . Do I have to worried about my 20 pound Boston terrier becobecomingeal ??

There has been a rapid decline of chipmonks and rabbits this year. But I just thought it was because of the hawks and foxes and coyotes.

    It's pretty cool.

  4. Swap the slide and the mag and your done. The 226 is so simple to swap slides on it's a joke. I must admit I am not a huge fan of the fat grip.

I'm used to a 1911 and my S&W shield. But the thing holds 15 rds so I'll learn to get used to it. The problem I have is my vision is poor. I'm far sighted. So I lose the dots on the 22 sight.

    The 9mm is ok though.

  5. I bought a Sig 226 classic beavertail (22 lr) about six months ago. I just found thanks to this forum a 9mm x-change kit.

That is by far the way to go. Both combined cost me a little under $900. Which is ok in these inflated times.

The 9 mm kit comes with a 15 round mag. the 22 has 2 10 rounders. I took it down to CR last week and ran 100 22lr rounds and about 30 9mm rounds through it.

Flawless. It is my new HD gun sending my Kimber to the safe.
