  1. Go shoot matches. Seriously.

Agreed, 100%. When I was semi-regularly shooting a mix of steel, USPSA, and IDPA, my shooting improved exponentially with every match, and I even won some money. Unfortunately weekends have become virtually impossible for me to have free since my son was born, but I will get back into it when I can. For now I'm curious what people can come up with for those quick, hour long trips to the range between other responsibilities.

  2. Let's talk about what we can do in our own time at a more restrictive range, not unlike where the vast majority of shooters find themselves. Clearly there's no replacement for actual training on a dynamic, 3-dimensional range, but the fact is most shooters spend far more time standing at a fixed firing line and shooting at a piece of paper.

What drills do you perform in this setting to maximize the benefit you get from such an environment? Include drawings and /or YouTube videos if you can!

  3. Jon jon jon. Wow. What a statement. Revolvers are far from archaic. Do you know that revolvers fire faster than a semi. Ie. ed mcgivern. Jerry mickuleck. And many more. Revolvers are more of this sport than semi's are. Learn up buddy. I would love to start doing revolvers That is a true art. Please look into it first then reply to recant your statement. Ill leave it at that. Wowwww

  4. Agreed - it's a function of the particular firearm.  I saw a video from a friend who was shooting a Kriss Vector FA and the recoil on that was straight back with absolutely NO tendency to rise.

I've seen people shoot the Kriss Vector FA and launch rounds over the berm due to having no idea what they were doing.

  5. If you're interested, I've been toying with selling my precision side-charging upper which meets every one of your requirements except barrel length. Mine is 18" but it shoots ~1/2" with good 75gr handloads.

  6. Already done.  My parents made sure that my brother and I achieved Scouting highest honor, Eagle Scout.  Scouting teaches you skills not found in any class room.  Skill sets that are useful for life.  Skill sets that can be expanded on.  Skills that allow you to do for yourself and not rely on someone.

For my sons, both have achieved that rank.  That and giving back to the community in ways that support the basis of what made this country great.  I am proud to say they both now give back to the community. The oldest is on the town's land use board and head of the Office of Emergency Management.  The younger is a NJ trained firefighter (graduated first in his class), an EMT, and also on the OEM staff.  This in addition to their full time jobs.

This is my family's continuing legacy and I am proud to be an American.  May this county correct its path and return to greatness

Congratulations! Another Eagle here. This is a great thread considering my son will be 6 months old tomorrow.

  7. Alright so we fill out a COE and thats it? Who do we submit the form to?

EDIT: Yes thats what we are trying to figure out, can this be done legally period? Or does he have to turn in the rifle since he has no FID.

The forms do not get submitted anywhere. Technically the intent is that you each keep one copy of the form, however the law does not mandate that anyone keep them, only that you complete the form. In theory you could complete it and shred it immediately after. Personally, I keep copies of all of my COEs in a safe place.

I believe that the only two ways a NJ resident and non-FID holder can acquire a firearm is if they purchased it legally while a resident of another state, or it was left to them in a will. Buying property and finding a gun is not something I'm 100% sure about.

  8. Thought you got one already? (Why you selling your usp....blasphemy I tell ya).... ;)

I bought mine at RTSP the day after they became available. Also, the stainless gun is only one of several USPs in my collection(though I expect more going up for sale soon).

  9. A non-FID holder can transfer a rifle that they own legally to an FID holder using a COE(Certificate of Eligibility http://www.njsp.org/info/pdf/firearms/sp-634.pdf ). Fill out two copies, one for the Transferor and one for the Receiver, and leave the "Transferor's Firearm ID Card Number" slot empty.

I cannot comment on the legality of your friend being the legal owner of the rifle as I do not know what the law says about that.
