  1. If the weapon is "concealed", nobody should know you have it unless it's needed...then, they'll be thankful you have it regardless of the presence of any signage.

Concealed means concealed, sure... but bend over to pick something up, or jog to cross the street before the light changes (thus exposing the "tell" most people have when carrying concealed), and suddenly you're outed. You can't count on a thin piece of fabric to keep you out of trouble.

And there are a number of stories of people carrying de-escalating an otherwise dicey situation, only to get caught up with legal troubles or losing their jobs, so I'm not sure everyone shares this sentiment. I'd rather have as much of the law on my side as possible in these situations.

In an ideal world (or at least, an ideal Texas), the signage wouldn't exist because too many people are carrying, following the law, and refusing to patronize businesses that choose to display it.

  2. Only difference between PA and Texas is no license open carry and an honest AG.

I definitely disagree here. Signs in PA do not carry the force of law, and you can carry in an establishment that serves alcohol. If you're someone who is responsible enough to refrain from becoming intoxicated while carrying, I should think you have a right to protect yourself.

A lot of people-- on both sides of the gun control fence-- seem to regard Texas as having the most loose gun laws in the nation. It just isn't true, I say; PA has much more permissive gun laws than Texas, and the 30-06 sign nonsense is a perfect example of that.

Texas sure beats many states in the NE area, but I think its gun laws are far from perfect.

  3. The most efficient way to have backup cell phone charge for power outages is to have multiple batteries that you keep charged and rotate through every week or so. I would much rather have them than have a charger I could use two or three times, it's much faster and a more efficient use of space (especially in a pack) and time.

Of course, if you have other USB devices that need charging, a universal battery that can charge them becomes the better choice.

  4. I've had it since I was a child. For the longest time I thought everyone had it. At least I know it wasn't in my control, but preventing it from becoming worse sure is. Every concert, every sporting event, every range trip, PLUGS. I don't care what anyone thinks.

Here's an interesting question for fellow tinnitus sufferrers: what does it sound like for you? How many individually discernable sounds do you have, and what are their relative pitches? Mine sounds like a sine wave tone and I have about 4 or 5, the lowest being somewhere around 800 hz and the highest being too high to estimate. Most of the time I don't notice it but I definitely need to sleep with a fan.

  5. .45 Auto Rim is a .45 ACP with a rim. It's a converted pistol cartridge and it will only work in revolvers. Those same revolvers can safely fire .45 ACP with clips if the cylinder is designed to accept them, since it's otherwise the same load.

.45 ACP and .45 Auto the the same thing, a pistol cartridge that will work in your 1911

.45 Colt (or .45 Long Colt/LC as it became known as later to distinguish it from the ACP) is a cartridge designed specifically for revolvers.

    Hope that clears it ip

  6. meh. That article summed up: "A certain type of smartphone singled out here, being essentially a computer, is vulnerable to exploits because... It's a computer." Nothing new here. Any other smartphone and user could fall victim to the same.

Apple gets its security by way of an authorized app store. Android gets its security in the same way, but it also allows you to ELECT to not use it (and its provided security) if you so choose. That's the main difference. if you choose to make yourself vulnerable because you must must must have a cracked version of Candy Crush Saga, that's your decision to make.

  7. 4. Build your own at considerable expense

I know what OP is talking about and it does make perfect sense. Modal dialogs are bad UI/UX design 99% of the time. Phones are not phones anymore, they are mobile computers.

Thee problem lies in the fact that cell phone tech has not kept pace with computer tech, and as such was shoehorned in using low level system calls. There's no other reason a phone call can't pop up a balloon. Currently no phones can do this.
