  1. The only holes that really exist are...... States can still control mag restrictions, school zones, (because they were not addressed by the law) and the biggest obstacle is some agencies refusal to provide a retired ID. The state can kick and scream all they want federal law trumps state law. And for those interested it took the better part of twenty years, national pressurer from police unions mainly the federal lodge in DC to move this to law. No one especially NJ will line up to give us anything without a concerted effort. JMOP

  2.  JMOP but......Here's what NOT TO DO keep your finger out of the trigger guard end of teaching moment. There is no way I believed  the MC trained him that way.  And he is certainly showing different trigger  finger placements for use during active engagement.

"Old manual arms" For who the NVA.  Hopefully he was a point man because if he shot me I would be extremely pissed, but then given he had an AK during my time who the hell would know.

Finally lets discount the ND is what he showing at all relevant to sound, safe training for combat or otherwise? In my opinion no.

  3. N4P lets look at it this way, is what he advocating/teaching even remotely relavant to those they are trying to reach with videos such as this?

It is not even a sound practice under the duress of fire and or immediate contact for troops in the field.   The ND  is a whole other problem which clearly shows the error of advocating this bullshit. This occurred under a controlled no stress environment so now lets throw direct fire and contact in and see what happens...... JMOP

  4. NP 4 please tell me you are joking when you say  "Not fine for a carry or HD gun (especially a 1911 which doesn't have the track record of more modern firearms with reliability.)" I assume you are speaking specifically about kimbers and not the 1911's in general which given the track record from WW1,WW2, Korea and Vietnam I think the record speaks for itself. As for Kimbers I have a few, all run very well get carried regularly and  if they didn't they would get sold. All of mine have thousands of rounds thru them and run like clock work with the exceptation of a 9MM which is too mag sensitive to piss around with.  Not trying to start an argument just an opinion. :)

  5. Les to do it properly you should use a trigger pull gauge and there are several extractor adjustment tools with gauges for both 9mm and 45 acp that make the task very simple and reliable,  I have the brownell one that is very good and always took care of any issues. Good luck and take care.

  6. HE agree, I advocate for being familiar with just about any firearm you will encounter but train with one type and only deviate if I have to, fortunately I no longer have to worry about what gets issued...... Most of us would benefit by buying less and spend the money on training.........Regards and Take care be safe.

  7. My opinion and mine only...... I shoot all kinds of firearms. But I Train with the one I carry. I carry a 1911 so the action of thumbing off the safety for me is imprinted but I have seen people qualify with say a 1911 and repeatly fail to disengage the safety as their training imprint was draw aim engage if needed. Sans any active safety. Again my opinion only. Good luck and be safe.

  8. Checko depends ,for most unless you have jurisdictional responsibility it pays to be a good witness , now with that being said for me it depends on the circumstances. Active shooter and you do well they will throw a parade. Hit an innocent they will hang you. And this would apply to anyone CCW holder LEO etc.Today's hero can turn in to tomorrow's goat... To answer you're original question prior to retiring I carried insurance, to cover non jurisdictional issues.Be safe.be smart.

  9. I have spent a lot of time in Washington never had an issue, pre and post retirement. Most allow you to sign in and go about your business, areas that were restricted all had lock boxes to secure your weapon and you keep the key. All the museums allowed the sign in process. Take care and be safe.

  10. "I don't like the ejector at all." Count me in this column as well ejector is in sad shape with what looks like definite peening and from the pictures looks like someone went to town with a file or you have real bad slide contact. You indicated you put in a new EB extractor , the ejectors can be tricky to replace at least for me.I would replace that as well, then tune the extractor and your problem should go away once the ejector is replaced. How do the slide rails themselves look. All said and done I know just enough to bugger up my own guns..... Good luck hope you get it corrected.

  11.  Just an FYI:National Purple Heart Day.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    Springfield, VA, August 7, 2015

August 7th is National Purple Heart Day
A Day to Honor America's Combat Wounded and Fallen Heroes

Each year on August 7th, the nation pauses to remember and pay homage to the brave men and women who were either wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. As America's oldest decoration, the Purple Heart is awarded to any member of the U.S. Armed Forces that has been wounded, died as a result of wounds received in battle, or those who died in captivity while a prisoner of war (POW). We now celebrate Purple Heart Day on the anniversary of its creation by General George Washington on August 7, 1782.

This year, many States, Counties, and Cities; sport and entertainment entities; colleges and universities, and other patriotic entities across the nation who have proclaimed themselves as Purple Heart communities, will raise the Purple Heart flag in recognition of the service and sacrifice of their local sons and daughters. In New York City, the Empire State Building will be lit in purple lights as a reminder to all Americans that there is a price for the freedoms we enjoy, and honor is due to those who gave their all in defense of those freedoms. In Las Vegas, NV, site of the 2015 MOPH National Convention, the famous "Fremont Street Experience" will feature a special 'Purple Heart Day" patriotic sound and light show.

The organization now known as the "Military Order of the Purple Heart of the U.S.A. Inc.," (MOPH) was formed in 1932 for the protection and mutual interest of all combat wounded veterans and active duty men and women who have received the decoration. Chartered by the Congress, The MOPH is unique among Veteran Service Organizations in that all its members were wounded in combat. For this sacrifice, they were awarded the Purple Heart Medal. With grants from the MOPH Service Foundation, the MOPH and its Ladies Auxiliary promote Patriotism, Fraternalism, and the Preservation of America's military history. Most importantly, through veteran service, they provide comfort and assistance to all Veterans and their families, especially those requiring claims assistance with the VA, those who are homeless, and those requiring employment assistance. Programs of the MOPH include VA Volunteer Service, JROTC Leadership Award, Scholarships, Americanism, Purple Heart Trail and Cities, Welfare, and numerous community service programs, all with the objective of service to Veterans and their families.

  12. Griz is correct they will even provide replacement awards and decorations as earned. Does not take long and can be done on line. Always found it interesting that a naval captain did a study that was published by the VFW concerning service in Vietnam , and part of it talked about the number of in country vets who actually served in country seems that for every legitimate Vietnam vet there are 13 claiming to have served in country. I'd like to know where the hell these guys were when we were over there.
