  1. No problem I get down there every other week to pick up stuff so if you need it no problem just let me know and I can meet you as I have to qualify a couple guys next week, Also if I do see it again advise if you want me to get you any and how many boxes. Not sure if they were still limiting them. I don't need or use much .22, regards john.

  2. Man I left and never thought to look to see if anyone would respond. I have one box I bought last Thursday that I could give you, same make and round count saw it and bought it...... Today they had maybe 60 boxes and were replacing it as people took it,only bought it to use in a conversion kit for one of my 1911s. If you want it let me know and I will hold it and get it to you.

  3. Anyone looking for 22LR cabelas in Delaware has a bunch of it out. 26.99 Remington thunderbolt 500 rounds seems like they keep putting more out as customers take it. Been here for sometime snd the shelf is full . Just in case anyone is looking. Regards

  4. SJ to answer your original question I carry the NRA CC (leosa)insurance as well as membership in citizens defense. I have an umbrella policy as well but it does not cover defensive shootings outside of the home. I never did find any insurance providers that covered that area and had to go for a specific policy. One thing about the NRA policy is that any funds associated with your defense comes after successful defense that is why I have the dual coverage that covers areas not picked up by the NRA policy. Fortunately it appears that more providers are entering this area. IMOP anyone that carries (even infrequently) should have some type of coverage unless you have 50k available in the event you have to defend yourself both criminally and civilly. I look at it just like renewals, qualifications etc it is part of the yearly expenditure. PS before the professor takes issue regarding the lack of nj issuing CCL I believe every law abiding citizen should be allowed to carry........regards and be safe,

  5. One positive thing about the show is the fact that it shows how our forefathers were the citizens armed against an oppressive government. These days the antis want to turn the 2nd amendment into meaning standing militia as part of the government and disregard the fact that it really means we the people. Anything that shows citizens and arms in a positive light is a good thing in my opinion. What holds true across time is control the information, disarm the masses and make them think the government or regime will provide for you is a ploy as old as man. (Be it Romans,Nazis, communism or in this case the British).JMOP

  6. Peppers kudos for doing this for your uncle, as HE indicated the company he sent you the info on makes real nice display frames in various sizes to accomadate most requirements along with everything you need to mount the various items. They will be pretty cost affective verses going to a framing service locally. On a related subject if your uncle would not mind you can go on line to the VA web site and request copies of his records, awards and they will even replace any medals that he is entitled to. What is great is that you can then mount an envelope on the back of the display place everything in the envelope and years from now the records(DD 214 and other documents) will give a detailed history of your uncles time in service. Another nice addition is if you can obtain a photo of him in uniform which adds to the info and will be great for your future generations.

  7. Fox thanks so much for the assistance, I did not realize I needed to provide a manual of arms prior to regaling stories about negligent discharges. As a member of the community I appreciate your input, insight as they relate to the subjects at hand. I will try to do much better in the future.

  8. Fox think about what you said and not to get in a pi$$ing contest but an open bolt weapon in the closed position with the chamber empty is in my opinion a club, and you are correct remove source of ammunition , clear chamber and you are back to an expensive club.... The Uzi is no more or less frightening then any other weapon. Key to this is finger, trigger, and operator adhering to on target on trigger off target off trigger. I realize you are an MG guy and experienced in their operation this was JMOP...... And some previous experiences related to ND's....... Regards and be safe.

  9. For about 15 years in my previous life I was responsible for investigating our agencies unauthorized firearms discharges that saw me travel across the country. Almost every initial incident report listed the event as accidental discharge...... However in all of the cases I was involved in, which included revolvers, semi autos, shotguns and M4's it all boiled down to negligence or as they say in the aviation industry. PILOT ERROR..... I had one job involving a privately owned (unauthorized) 2 shot derringer that supposedly fell to the ground and went off striking the guy in the buttock. I did get the weapon to fire duplicating the scenario layed out so there was one "accident" To many people get complacent and familiarity breeds contempt. Many of the same people were advanced shooters, firearms instructors and specialized team leaders. Fingers off the trigger and be safe. Almost forgot, years ago we had uzi's and they were an instructors nightmare. More on range ND than all weapons combined. Think short barrel, open bolt firing......heavy and people placing fingers in the trigger guard while trying to charge the bolt in preparation of firing and neglecting to ensure the safety was put on safe between firing phases.

  10. HE try. XS sight company I bought one of their rails for a ruger scout rifle and I believe they have one for the ruger mini 14, price was not to bad and they are good quality. May even give an LEO discount. Good luck .

  11. 302w not to start an argument just an observation.....Are you sure about this " for self defense a bolt action is a bad choice. It's a neat idea but seems gimmicky".

Think about all the battles fought pre semi/fullauto.   Sgt York comes to mind and he did pretty good with his old fashion bolt gun.

I do realize that any combat pitting a gas operated or recoil reloading  system vs a bolt  operation is at a serious disadvantage. Think Garand vs 98 Mauser, however unfortunately too many GIs and Allies died facing these same "gimmicky" weapons

Any firearm in capable hands can be used for self defense. May not be the best choice at the time ,but beats no choice. Aim,fire repeat as needed. The object has always been and remains the same hence the adage one shot one kill or shoot until the threat is neutralized .

There was a study done years ago that indicated during WW1 it cost 17 cents to kill an enemy combatant, during Vietnam,(and I would guess it has gotten higher since then), it was estimated that it cost several thousand dollars per enemy casualty.( I realize this includes both high tech ordnance as well as small arms) but the implication is that spray and pray is not real productive. Remember when uncle same fitted the ARs with 3 round burst select fire......

I know during my time in country  (VN) some of our fire discipline left a lot to be desired :)

  12. Griz and PK are correct on all counts. The good thing about the RPO program is the exemption related to GF school zones restrictions which LEOSA did not cover along with the issues related to magazine capacity restrictions. Some of the things related to the RPO program are a pain like the 1 yr renewal, age restriction(75) but NJSP deserve props for at least having a program when many states do not and this coupled with some depts across the country refusing to issue retired ID cards at least in NJ there is a process that does not exist in many other states. The AG knows damn well that LEOSA trumps state law but he will not cross that bridge until he needs to, same thing with the ammunition restrictions that are exempted by LEOSA but until the state has to defend the position in court for something like the carrying of JHP or someone carrying under the federal law over 75 than they will do nothing including the issuance of guidance.

  13. Amen to that it kills me to have so many different dedicated mags. Fortunately all of my handguns are 1911's and even a few of those based on the JMB design take different mags , round count etc add up what we all spend on the incidentals and we could fund a nice vacation somewhere

  14. HE, Mossberg deserves credit for putting out a rifle built to take what is probably the most available mags around. Ruger would of done well to do likewise but said they could not get the gunsite model to feed reliably. Take care and be safe.

  15. HE, no they are Ruger proprietary mags similar to what you would find on any standard hunting rifle, flush with stock and they are polymer. Not sure if anyone makes high capacity mags.

As you probably already know the MVP takes standard AR mags.

The Gunsite by Ruger also uses proprietary mags as well I have both the steel mags for them and the later model polymer; (5rd,10 rd and 15 rounders).

One thing about the MVP is the scope selection needs to be shorter as the rear iron (wilson I believe) sight sits really high. I put a 2-7 Redfield on it and the chucks did not mind :),but I wish I had higher magnification on it, but now I have the Ruger and mounted one of Nikons prostaff 4-12 models on it and it is nice and clear out to 300 yds and beyond and surprisingly the gun shoots well out that far.

When not predator hunting it is a great day of practice putting out balloons at different yardages attached to shell casing to keep them from blowing away. Put a bunch out from 100-to 300 yds and it gives a great morning of fun given the unknown distance. With the minimal cost of 5.56/223 it makes for a good day shooting.

  16. If you do go with a bolt gun take a look at both the MVP and Ruger American, I just picked up the Ruger in their Ranch model with 16.5 barrel and am pleasantly surprised by the accuracy.  Even with cheap PMC ammo and a  semi hot dirty barrel I am getting sub inch groups at 100yds and at 300yds it stays in a five-six inch circle.

My MVP shoots equally as well.  I do like shooting a bolt gun.  The compact size of both make them decent guns for chucks and predators when you are covering lots of areas.

Both have short barrels and balance well with minimal loss of accuracy. The MVP is more money and if I had to choose one it would be the Ruger which can be found at well under $380. Topped with decent glass they both shoot real well.

If I could find the  Ruger Gunsite in 5.56/223 I would buy one as I really like the two I have in 308 but they can be pricey.

Good luck with what ever you go with.
