  1. Can someone recommend a good smith that does stock fitting in NJ or even Pa. Years ago I used some local guys that just dabbled in it, this time I'm looking for the real deal, not kitchen table smiths. Thanks

  2. I've gotten sour in recent months with NJFG. Before the the recent gun buying frenzy, Joe was very difficult to deal with on some used guns I was interested in. He must be even more difficult to deal with since recent events. I've given them plenty of business the last 8 years, but there unwillingness to negotiate has made me pursue other establishments.

  3. There are several towns that won't extend a pistol permit unless the person shows proof of a future purchase. The proof would have to be a sales receipt,a deposit, etc. They won't extend the permit for a might use it situtation. This has just happened to a friend of mine. Since when does a town have authority over a state law?

  4. I've bought several guns at NJFG over the last few years mostly used, easier to negotiate on and, only a couple new. I've also brought friends there who purchased from them. The guys who work the counter are polite and competant. However, the last few times I've dealt with Joe the shop manager he isn't as apt to negotiate on his used inventory. Recently I tried negotiating with Joe on a rifle thats been sitting there almost a year,he wouldn't budge.I just feel after the business I've given him he could have been alittle more flexible. This is one inciden but, there have been other times also. I've gotten better deals recently in shops where they don't know me. There must be enough customers who go to NJFG who don't mind terrible prices. They obviously don't need my business and I'll make sure they"ll never get it again.

  5. I've been to SS several times to browse around. No one has acted impolite towards me, more like an aloofness. I'm not there to make friends so it's not an issue for me. Recently Joe, who happens to be a member of OBRPC, gave me a price on a new S&W at $10 over list price. I didn't get into a debate with him, I said thanks and left. Leaving without a purchase is the best message to give a shop owner.

  6. There are several Police Ranges in NJ that are open to the public. EB council is aware of this. Maybe they feel the loss of revenue from it being a financial bust outweighs the cost of opening it to the public. I know it's operating in the red. I was informed by a council member a few months ago it might open within the half year and, that they have a favorable vote. I asked another council member the same thing and, was told its not ready for a council vote. Political rhetoric is not limited to national politics.

  7. The East Brunswick Police Range is laying there collecting dust. I've been told by the town council it would be open to the public in the near future, I don't know what their version of near is. I really don't think they have a clue about the interest it would generate in central NJ. They don't appear to be in much of a rush in making this a possibility. It seems that the council is more interested in dog parks and patting themselves on the back for recognizing cultural "diversity".

  8. It's on 18 north right before prospect st. It's in alittle strip mall. The store is very small and, with very little stock as of yet. I have no idea what the owners plans are and the guy who was working there was just a buddy keeping an eye on things. I believe the owner also might own the auto repair behind the shop.

  9. The way it was explained to me recently by a EB council member was, that the option of leasing it out to a private propreitor was another option. The council member told me they have the votes to approve this. As I mentioned in my previous posts, I've been down this road before. The last thing I was told was, sometime during the first half of this year the range might be open to the public. I don't think the Township realizes how much interest there is in regards to this issue. I urge all shooters interested to write to the EB council expressing their interest in seeing the range opened to the public.

  10. I'm only relaying what he emailed me today. He and several others are new council members since this topic came up over a year ago. I can only give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but I'm not holding my breath. If this doesn't happen by the summer I'll assume it's a dead issue. Feel free to Email the EB council if interested, for instance [email protected] don't use the township format on their site it won't work.
