  1. Ray, I checked http://www.ammoengine.com which is a reliable source for pricing and found the following 9mm. Both ship to NJ. Prices are + freight (UPS ground). CheaperThanDirt No Tax PMC Bronze 124 FMJ $12.08 50 Remington UMC 115 FMJ $11.97 50 This is the Atlamta Arms that I use Atlanta Arms & Ammo No Tax Atlanta Arms & Ammo 147 FMJ Reloads $12.25 50 As I mentioned, the heavier 147gr SubSonic gets you back on target with a good sight picture MUCH faster.
  2. If you make it to BH next week, I'll give you the opportunity to get rid of some of it.
  3. I had a fun time. It was nice to meet Ray and Steve. I got to fire Ray's Beretta and Steve's 1911A. I think I could adapt more easily to the 1911's trigger which is very much what I'm used to with my M&P's. The Beretta is certainly accurate and I'm certain I'd be OK with it after a few hundres rounds. I think that Ray was amazed at the accuracy and groups he shot with the Kahr P380 and it's 2 1/2 inch barrel. I know he liked the trigger on the M&P with the full APEX Competition setup. I'm looking forward to BH next week and I think I'll go to Bayonne on the off Tuesdays. Thanks again to Ray and Steve for a fun evening.
  4. So far there are 3 or 4 of us going to Bayonne.
  5. I didn't notice if thay sold it or not. I'll have plenty of 9mm and .380 with me.
  6. I know it's not perfect but I don't need a lot other than the range itself. It's actually a better environment for a group of people to chat as well as shoot and the fellows working there were very nice. It might be an alternative week option to have a meet there in the off weeks from BH. Please don't misunderstand, but I usually shoot 2 or 3 days a week and one day every other week doesn't cut it for me. I am planning to go to Bayonne tomorrow. I'll probably be there about 7:30 to 9:00. Then I'll do BH next week.
  7. If I lived 3 minutes away I'd be broke from buying ammo and shooting every day they were open.
  8. Sorry, I'll PM you next time. Didn't realize that you hadn't followed the thread.
  9. Well, I went to Bayonne. The directions were great, no trouble finding it. Parked in the big lot across the road. The two gentlemen who were working were great. Friendly, helpful and enjoyable to chat with. In fact, I left my WWII Museum hat with one of them. I'm at the Museum regularly because its a great place for lunch as well as seeing the exhibits, so getting a new hat won't be a big deal. My 9mm was probably the biggest weapon at the range. It wasn't crowded, pretty well lit and fairly well ventilated. There were number of folks with 22LR and I shot one young fellow's Ruger rifle and let him shoot my M&P. I surprised him (and me) with a nice group, offhand at 10 yds. He was surprised that I was firing left handed so I explained how you need to shoot rifles and shotguins from your dominant eye side if you're going to be successful. Had a nice chat with the gentlan who works there about Garands and their characteristics. I last fired a Garand almost 50 years ago (that's scary). Lots of room, in the range, and in the outer room for socializing. I'll go back. It was about 15 min further than BH and has some later hours.
  10. Pistols are all I've got to take down there. 2 - 9mm and 1 - .380. Shotguns & rifles are serious stuff, you can kill people with them. :naughty: :shhh:
  11. The installation got postponed so I'm planning on going to Bayonne. I expect to be there by 7:30. I'll bring 3 guns and ammo if anyone wants to try them. I'll be wearing a tan WWII Museum baseball cap, blue knit shirt & blue pants.
  12. I'm doing a software application install in the afternoon. If I finish by 6 I'll head down there, otherwise next week. I appreciate the info about their hours. I'd like to get there in daylight the first trip.
  13. It'll probably wait until next week. I don't think I'll get out of work early enough to get to Bayonne. Thanks for the link.
  14. It's a competition ONLY gun. Never to be carried or used for anything but competition. My CCW guns (G26, PM9 and P380) are all 'factory stock' except for sights and lasers.
  15. I got my M&P 9c back from APEX today and the trigger feels superb. Fantastic reset as well. With BH closed is there someplace I can go to shoot tomorrow evening to try it out that isn't an hour+ away from Paramus? If anyone wants to join me, I'll also bring the PM9 and P380 for them to try as well. I hope I don't have to wait for BH to reopen. According to Randy at APEX, the trigger measures 2lb 7oz.
  16. damnyankee Posted: Wed Jun 30, 2010 10:25 pm Cardboard? Can I use a cardboard and staple my target to it? I'll take it with me for proper disposal when I leave. bullethole Posted: Sat Jul 03, 2010 11:35 am Re: Cardboard? Yes no problem
  17. If they won't allow cardboard (and I did post the question in the vendor area), we can probably do what one of my friends does. He shoots every day and uses butcher paper with either targets scotch taped to it or shoot 'n sees on it. I'll go with the flow and find a reasonable way to hang some USPSA, IPSC and B-27's.
  18. They have posted that they're closed 7/4 through 7/18. I'll post a question in their Vendor area about cardboard.
  19. Changing the subject slightly, when is the next meet? 7/20? I want to do some schedule planning sine Tuesday is my EMS Duty night when I'm in town. I will bring 3 guns, PM9, P380 and M&P 9c race gun. The 9c will shoot fast - way too fast for the RO. I have plenty of mags for all 3 so if you load 'em, you can shoot 'em. I'll bring factory and competition loads for the 9c. I prefer to use my own ammo since I'm particular about what goes through each of these, and I'll be the one who cleans them. A couple of other questions: Can I put up cardboard and staple targets to them? Flapping paper bothers me. The range looked to be about 15 yds. Do they ever mark 5, 7, 10 & 15 or do I have to bring a laser measure?
  20. I just want to emphasize that I wasn't trying to be negative about the facility or the people. I'm not used to shooting indoors and I'll adapt. As I said in my first post, everyone was friendly, nice and helpful. All of my questions were answered and it wasn't a bad experience. Actually, if there are people who shoot out lights, don't pay attention to safety, etc. I want the RO's to enforce the rules for my safety. My experience with LEOs is that they're either shooters or hunters or they're not. If they are, their attitudes and approaches towards shooting are the same as mine. If hey're not, they shoot as infrequestly as possible and don't enjoy it - it's just part of the job and they have to qualify to keep the job. I'm also trying to figure out where you guys have a 'Meet'. There's not a lot of free space.
  21. Which RO? RO was the younger of the two who were there. Dark hair - didn't get his name. I don't want to give the wrong impression, he was friendly and polite. I probably shot 7 aimed rounds with the PM9 in 7+ seconds or so - not really rapid. He told me that 'double taps' were OK but that there had to be a pause after each. I didn't ask about Mozambique's since I'd already been told not to shoot at the head of the target unless I was a LEO. I didn't bother trying to explain to him that 6 aimed shots in half my time would be rapid fire. I hadn't thought about it because one of their people (I assume one of their's since he was wearing a 'Gun for Hire' t-shirt) had been firing fast when i got there and while I was loading mags. He was firing faster then I did later. As an aside, what a stupid name. If you ran around in a t-shirt like that in everyday life and ever had to shoot someone in self defense, any DA would have a ball with you in court. From the signs about not shooting the lights, etc., I can only assume that they get a bunch of AH's and beginners in there as well as competent shooters. There were 2 guys one lane over from me who told me they were new to shooting and asked me a few questions. They weren't AH's at all but very nice young guys. They just need to get some competent instruction and they'll be fine. All they need to learn is stance, presentation, grip, sighting and trigger control and they'll become good competent shooters. They want to learn but I guess whoever sold them their guns didn't explain stuff like that to them. I felt badly for them that they were just blasting without a plan or learning agenda. /rant off.
