  1. I will definitely be there. I will look into getting a table for the NJ2AS. I am promoting the event among the members of the NJ2AS. The NRA plays a VERY important role in the present and future of gun rights throughout the Nation, as they have in the past. It isn't necessary to agree with every action they take in order to realize the impact they have on gun rights. When you look at the aggregate of what they have accomplished and how much REALLY BAD legislation they have blocked, it is easy to see how bad thing would be without the NRA. So, I encourage EVERYONE to PLEASE consider attending this event. If you absolutely cannot make this date there are other Friends of the NRA events you can attend, but THIS one is the premiere event. Anthony put on the largest FNRA dinner in the history of the State last year. You all know Anthony and you know how dedicated he is to RKBA in New Jersey. Not only is he on the board of ANJRPC and NJ2AS but he also co-produces and presents the weekly GUN FOR HIRE RADIO podcasts www.gunforhireradio.com. If you haven't been listening then you are missing one of the BEST resources in New Jersey for gun owners. Anyway, enough about Anthony - his head BARELY fits through the door as it is. Succinctly, the NRA deserves our support and attending The Essex County FNRA dinner is one of the best ways to accomplish that.

    Thanks for listening (reading actually).

  2. The Green Academy will be running (and still has seats available for) a UT/FL CCW application course. The course will be held at Buckeye Gun Club in Barnegat, NJ on July 10, 2011. This course is one-stop shopping for you nonresident CCW permit... we provide all services necessary (prints, passport photos, notary, UT instructor stamp, and a certificate of completion). Anyone interested, check out our website

This is an EXCELLENT opportunity for members in the south central Ocean county area to get their Out of State CCW License. Cameron will supply everything you need. If you have been to our meetings, you may have seen Cameron's presentation along with some of the other great trainers who have helped make our meetings informative. I can recommend this course to you without hesitation. Please contact him directly for the complete details.

  3. We have a very special evening planned for Wednesday August 17, 2011. Internationally known Firearms Trainer and TV Personality Rob Pincus will be giving a special presentation to all the members and guests of the NJ2AS. You may have taken a course with Rob, used his training DVDs, or seen him on on television programs including The Best Defense and S.W.A.T. Magazine TV. Even if you haven't seen Rob before, you are in for a treat. We have been able to keep this meeting FREE and open to the public, so please invite your family, friends and neighbors to this exciting event. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 7:30PM at the American Legion Post 129 on 2025 Church Road in Toms River, NJ. Rob is a member of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society and he is looking forward to addressing the group. It is a big hall, but let's make sure we fill it. This is one meeting you won't want to miss. Updates and additional info will be available on our website at http://www.nj2as.com. See you at the meeting.

  4. On Wednesday July 13, 2011 NJ2AS members and guests will be treated to a unique presentation by Kenn Blanchard AKA Black Man With a Gun. Most people know Kenn from the insightful and often humorous podcasts on his website http://www.blackmanwithagun.com. Kenn has a wealth of experience that gives him a perspective that you must experience and enjoy. Even if you are not from South Jersey, you may want to travel down to the South Jersey Shooting Club in Winslow, NJ to see the Rev. do his thing. It promises to be a very special meeting. I hope to see everyone there. And please remember, for the present our meetings are FREE and open to the public. We encourage you to invite your family, friends and neighbors to join us for this presentation. All are welcome. SJSC is located at 840 Piney Hollow Road in Winslow and is easy to get to. The meeting starts at 7:30PM. See you all there.

  5. Sorry I couldn't make it down to the meeting last night. How was it? Also, where and when is the next one, as I'm going to try really hard to get there.

We are working on that. The plan is to rotate to Winslow in July. I would be shooting at Wednesday the 13th. I will update everyone here and on our website as soon as we have definite plans. Thank you.

  6. We have a great “double-bill” planned for our meeting this Wednesday June 15, 2011 at the American Legion Post 129 on 2025 Church Road in Toms River. If you are curious about how Operation Establish Compliance is going, you will want to hear about it from our Attorney, Rick Gutman. Rick will give a short presentation and then open it up for Q&A. I am certain everyone will want to hear what Rick has to say.

In addition, Brian Ellis has agreed to speak to us about the Firearms Applications Processing procedures from the point of view of someone who actually does the processing. Brian inherited the responsibility of processing these permits at a time when his department had a six month or longer backlog. He was able to get it down to less than 30 days in most instances and in some cases, even shorter. It will be interesting to see this from the other side of the desk.

In addition, we will be looking to our membership for participation on our various committees. Many of you have indicated that you want to join a committee and help us to reach our goal of making New Jersey a MUCH better place to exercise your fundamental right to keep and bear arms for legitimate purposes. This will be your opportunity to become more intimately involved.

As you know, nothing in New Jersey will change without our involvement. It is EXTREMELY important that we do not allow our activity level to decline during the summer. Please join us for this important meeting. The meeting is FREE and open to the community so please bring your friends, neighbors, family and anyone else who may be interested in the cause of freedom in New Jersey. PLUS the hall is air-conditioned.

As usual, the meeting will begin at 7:30PM. I look forward to seeing you all there. Enjoy the weekend and stay cool.

    Sincerely,

  7. Terrific video. The sound quality is really good. You can hear every word. At first, I wasn't going to watch it, because I was there, but then I decided to check it out. I picked up a lot by watching the videos that I didn't when I was sitting there. I think this should be mandatory viewing for legislators, people who are new to shooting sports in NJ, new gun owners and everyone else who cares about the subject. Great job!

Yes, we owe a debt of gratitude to Anthony Colandro and his crew from Gun For Hire for the fantastic job on this video. It really is professional quality.

  8. If you missed the EXCELLENT presentation Dan Schmutter gave to the NJ2AS on the legal issues surrounding the right to keep and bear arms in New Jersey, you can now see it online on either our NEWS page at www.nj2as.com or on our Facebook group page. Dan did a fantastic job of presenting the challenges and the progress. You don't want to miss this video. Even if you were there, it is well worth watching again.

  9. One of the issues Dark Knight mentioned was collusion. I would hope that is not the case but now that a justifiable need has been met, the state needs to define what justifiable need means in order to comply with their own law. SAF is going to go even further and challenge the justifiable need clause. But, first things first.

Definitely! We didn't get THIS messed up over night. It will no doubt take a lot of hard work to fix things. Again - be prepared. BTW there is a GOOD bit of truth to the saying "the squeaky wheel gets the grease". We need to keep making noise until things start running smoothly. One thing that we have to keep in mind though is Alan Gura's admonition. You can't just go off half-cocked. RKBA legislation has to be planned and coordinated, otherwise we could wind up with some REALLY bad precedents.

  10. I don't see that the removal of Muller as plaintiff weakens the case. The judge assigned to the case is certainly not stupid. He will know when and why Muller was removed as a plaintiff. Chances are the judge is predisposed to rule in favor of the state no matter what. If he is unbiased, which I would find surprising but not out of the question, he might very well consider the granting of a permit to Mr. Muller, after an appeal, to support the plaintiffs' argument that the NJ statute gives undue discretion to Judges and police, and that it is arbitrary and capricious as applied. In addition, the remaining plaintiffs are pretty compelling as well. This case is not about one or two people who were denied permits and the judge knows it.

It will be an "interesting" and "bumpy" ride. And it won't be the last, but THANK NATURE it is finally here. This suit has been a long time in coming. Certainly, if the judge rules AGAINST the plaintiffs' we will have a rallying point like never before. I am pretty sure we (the responsible gun owners of NJ) will be able to rally an impressive number of people to the statehouse steps. You can be sure that the NJ2AS and ANJRPC will be there in force. I am guessing that most of the people here in NJGF will be right beside us (if not in FRONT of us). So, be prepared. I know I will be.

  11. No, the state blundered on this one thinking they were taking the wind out of the SAF's sails by getting rid of their star witness. However, I seriously doubt Mr Mueller wont act as a character witness moving forward. NJ was probably thinking they'd get reamed by the judges for their wishy washyness but the end result would be in their favor. If this is the case, that's very short sighted of them. I feel, and IANAL, NJ ultimately weakened their case by issuing the permit. NJ will try to say "this man should have been issued the permit the first time but a few judges practicing their own form of political justice from the bench caused all these problems. We've since reprimanded them and we are currently vetting the other applicants properly."

This will leave NJs case wide open for the SAF to make fools out of em. Issuing the permits does NOT make the underlying problem go away.

I tend to agree. I think once the suit was initiated WITH Jeffrey Muller as a plaintiff, the state was in trouble no matter WHAT they did.

  12. Who the fugg negs me every time I make a realistic post?

Not that I give a damn, but some of you guys need a little reality check. Being positive is nice, but don't shoot the damn messenger for posting the sad truth that you don't want to hear.

SAFs case has been weakened as a result of this. Big time. You will notice that in McDonald v. Chicago Mr. McDonald had his home broken into and been threatened by criminals prior to the lawsuit. He demonstrated a threat that has already come to fruition, not one that comes from his imagination.

Yes, it can happen to anyone, but "I was kidnapped by a violent motorcycle gang, dragged cross country to be executed and survived only because I escaped" has an impact that "well I carry a lot of money for work, and I'm kinda worried something may happen one day"

If you think that the NJ legislature, and the judges and NJSP, who all work in collusion to deny you of your right to carry a gun are stupid, you have another thing coming. Go ahead, keep making yourself feel better by assuming your opponents are fools. You will find that you are sorely mistaken.

I have no idea who is voting you down. But I think the point is being missed. Either we work together to make sure we change the way we are treated here in NJ, or we will fail. So, let's get on board.
