  1. I find that the shooting of a revolver is much more fun and relaxing than a semi-auto. Shoot 6, dump 6, load 6, repeat. I enjoy the tactile feel of loading the rounds into the cylinder (weird, I know).

I find the reloading of magazines to be a chore and I go thru ammo much slower with a wheel gun. With a revolver, I get into a very nice, easy going rhythm.

As for ammo cost, .38 vs. 9mm, I am waiting on an order of .38 from a professional reloading outfit. The ammo is 11.50 per 50, about the same price as 9mm. I will post up a review when I shoot it. If it shoots good, I may just stop buying 9mm and load up on .38.

Also, deals are to be had in the revolver market. I just bought a 6" SS Ruger Security Six .357 for $250. The gun is a thing of beauty. Last month I bought a 4" S&W 19 for $260 that has a great deal of holster wear from the State Trooper who sold it, but it shoots like a dream. Keep your eyes open and you may stumble into something.

  2. I got the discount on Tuesday also.

My opinion about Shore Shot has been declining for many months now. This kinda seals the deal.

A few employees there are great, but I have never liked how the owner or his kid treated me. i am not looking to be best friends, but I appreciate a business owner who seems interested in interacting with me. I stopped in on Friday morning to look at a Buck Mark and I stood at the rimfire counter for 10 minutes without any offer of assistance.

I was a once-a-week shooter. I let my membership lapse last year because of a job loss. The forum discount was a nice touch that I appreciated. I guess I now have a reason to check out the BA range. I know BA has had some bad blood with NJGF in the past, but the guys behind the counter have always treated me well when I stop in to cruise the used guns.

BTW, I am very much looking forward to the Tip's opening up down south. The Gormleys are good people.

  3. WTS S&W 22a pistol, 7"

I wish to sell my Smith and Wesson 22a with a 7" barrel.

I purchased it new in 2010. Gun runs very well with MiniMags, Federal bulk or CCI bulk. Shoots lead or copper plated without fail. Super easy gun to take down and clean. I estimate round count at 2,463.

Comes with box, manual, 3 10 round magazines, spare buffer. It is currently wearing an aftermarket Altamont walnut grip that sells new for $60. See here... http://www.altamontco.com/products/pistol/smith_and_wesson/22A/index.php

    Original plastic grip is included.

    Asking $265.

First public "I'll take it" followed by a PM gets it.

  4. No, you do not need your own gun. If you have one, you can bring it.

Watch the video at home, fill out the practice book, attend a hunter education class (I went to Ft. Dix), shoot 3 rounds they supply out of a shotgun they supply (to prove you can safely handle a gun) and take a written, mutiple guess test.

    It was very easy.

The class was mobbed, but it only took a couple hours. They give you a paper that you use to buy your hunting license at a store. Renew every year.

Shoot shotgun, muzzleloader and .22 rifle free at a WMA, 7 days a week, dusk to dawn.

  5. Some indoor ranges do not allow for steel cased ammo. When Remington UMC goes on sale at Dick's for around $11, I try to stock up.

A cool website is Ammoengine.com. A good way to get a quick education on what costs what. I always thought I wanted a .30/30 until I saw how cheap 7.62 x 39 was.

  6. I do not want to hijack this thread, but I have newbie offroad questions, too.

I used to take my '78 volvo 242GT on the fire trails in Lacey and Waretown as a teen and would like to go out again (without the getting stuck part.)

I am looking for a "snow & tow" vehicle to pull a pop-up camper and maybe take out woodsin' with the kids. I have no plans to go on the beach.

I will probably look for a 10 year old or so Explorer or the like. A good looking '02 Mountaineer caught my eye the other day. Is the Mountaineer's AWD sufficient for Ocean Co. sugar sand, or should I stick with a truck with 4wd Hi and Lo? I assume the Explorer would be capable.

  7. I got hit a few years back in my MPV, similar damage, plus taillight. $1300.

Took the cash and hit ebay.

Bought a new bumper cover, painted, for $300 and a taillight for $90.

The bumper cover arrived with cracked paint from shipping. Got a full refund from from DHL and I got to keep the bumper.

Total profit... $1210. Yes, some hassle and a half day spent fitting and priming, but that is a lot of $.

I will take getting in a fender bender any time, any place.

    Glad no one was hurt.
