  1. would you pick the SCAR or the ACR? my original goal was the 17s, bc of the 7.62x51 round + the minimal price difference. after looking at parts availibilty (mostly 10rd mags), i maybe reconsidering my decision. does anyone have either rifle and want to chime in? please advise b4 I drop my $$ on a new toy.

  2. Just ordered (2) AR lowers from Spikes and their customer service was TOP NOTCH! Since I am trying to avoid paying NICS twice, the shipping mgr Melinda took my order and will be processing it TODAY to get in the mail TODAY. This saves me a 3-4hr trip to So Jersey! :D Im thinkin Tony must have some pull over there too. :icon_rolleyes:

  3. Alex, if you want to shoot USPSA, you are more than welcome to come and try this sunday in Old Bridge.

how bad u want me to embarass myself? i am hoping to have my gun this weekend. decided to start off w/ a 9mm, but probably buying the Sig P229 Elite Dark next. im hating Bill right about now, -lol.

  4. Alex you are a great natural shooter, you'll be kicking our a**es in no time in USPSA matches...

thats bc i got PATIENT, NO-EGO people around me! :icon_lol:

...my goal is to shoot competitively, ONE DAY.

Luis, we will definately get together to shoot again. im glad i have a new friend nearby!

  5. good turn out, Maks, Luis,Robert,Chris,Bryan and two newbies,Alex & Stephanie. Hope you are now totally more confused Alex, lol

just wanted to say thanks for ALL of you who got a chance to show up last night, say hello and help me find my 1st handgun. the experience was priceless! never knew i would find such great people from the forum. i still cant believe it. i would have driven 5hrs instead of 2hrs to do it again! thanx again!

  6. When you bought your last car, did you go in blindly to the dealership and trust everything the sales person said? For most people, by the time they research what they want, they know alot more than any sales person will. Why are guns any different?

i'm a car guy, so dealers dont like me, -lol. (im hoping i can get this good w/ guns)

your other response is sooo true. i am getting around the forum and pay attention. i have been in email contact w/ vinny and briefly chatted w/ paul. i think he has a used P229 listed on his site.

  7. If you really want someone to spend time with you and go over the guns, pick up the phone, call the owner and explain your situation. Have one of them spend an hour with you going over the various firearms. This way, they can plan accordingly.

However, if there is one or two employees at the store, having one of those employees wait on you, while there are 10 people in the store waiting is unfair to the other customers. The business owner then has to make a decision whether to help you, or the other 10 people.

Now while you might be happy, the other 10 pissed off people will come here and complain that they had to wait... dont believe me? Take a look at the Dicks Sporting goods thread... people complaining about holding on the phone.

there were (2) people working in the store yday. i was MORE THAN PATIENT waiting for my turn and also had the saleswoman take care of the paying customers for the range. i was the one who told her to take care of the people who want to shoot 1st, and i waited w/out a problem. since i am new to all this, i didnt want to piss anyone off at a place i maybe shooting in the future.

sad part is, i have a boss who is looking for two handguns & a friend who is looking for another. that could be 6 pistols and who knows how many rifles.
