  1. OK, you don't know, but I should, and you told me, but you actually didn't. Got it.

Let's just say you are better than me and we can both move on, OK?

You better ask Joshroz2 about that, because he told me and he didn't say that. And he knows, and he knows that I knows, or something.

    BTW, thanks.

Relax, I don't know why you think I'm trying to get you.

I am just trying to provide the information to answer your question.

I'm sorry if it comes off as condescending.

  2. State law allows or requires an individual’s driving privilege to be suspended for certain motor vehicle violations, which means the driver license will be taken away and the motorist may not drive for a stated period of time. In addition to license suspension, fines and imprisonment may also be imposed for moving violations. The length of suspension time depends on the law that is broken and how many convictions a motorist receives.

Some suspensions are decided on a case-by-case basis. If the sentence is not mandatory, the Chief Administrator of the MVC or the courts may suspend driving privileges.

  3. In NJ you can go to jail for reckless driving, which can be assessed for speeding only.

Reckless driving: Driving recklessly in a manner that willfully endangers the rights, property or safety of others is punishable by imprisonment of up to 60 days, or by a fine of not less than $50 or more than $200, or both for a first offense (N.J.S.A. 39:4-96). Points are assessed.

  4. No, you didn't.

Why are you being an asshole? I stated my question with absolute clarity. It was about speeding, not vehicular homicide.

Ok, so you answer is, a judge can have me executed or put in jail for life?

There is a maximum penalty for every violation of traffic and criminal code, and I do not appreciate you not telling it to me two times, and insulting me both times without answering my question.

Your kidding right? I answered your speeding question with the actual law.

In one post the laws are too complicated for you and in another you know that every traffic violation has a maximum punishment.

    Executed lol

If you get caught and charged and convicted of 40 mph+ over the speed limit it is at the judges discretion what the punishment is.

That doesn't mean you can be executed.

That means that there are tons of punishments he can choose and they are all different. You could get your license suspended you could get a fine etc. There are too many options to list.

You can't get jail time for speeding only but when your 40+ over you often get a charge that involves endangering people.

  5. I don't understand it well enough. That's why I came here to ask the question.

Is that the answer to every NJ gun law question here as well?

I don't speed so that doesn't help me. Well, OK, I might do 4 mph over the speed limit when I'm not paying attention. Usually when I'm doing 25 and it's hilly, because my cruise control won't set under 25.5 from what it seems. But I'm certainly not going 75 in Jersey. I might have touched it in WV where the limit is 70s.

The driving laws are not like the firearms laws. They are very straight forward.

I also answered your question. So here it is again: The highest penalty will be if your speeding kills someone. That sentence would be up to a judge and probably involve years in jail.

If you want strictly speeding only:

39:4–98 Exceeding maximum speed 1-14 mph over limit

    2

Exceeding maximum speed 15-29 mph over limit

    4

Exceeding maximum speed 30 mph or more over limit

    5

39:4-98 Speeding - exceeding limit by 35-39 miles per hour -- pursuant to

N.J.S.A. 39:4-98.7, all fines have been doubled for any defendant

charged with speeding 20 MPH or more over the speed limit. $256

NOTE: Exceeding the posted speed limit by 40 miles per hour or more

    requires a court appearance.

Going over 40 would prompt the maximum and that would again be up to a judge to decide the punishment.

  6. What's the maximum penalty?

Why don't you just lookup the law. There are too many possibilities of how you can drive retarded.

Obviously you could kill someone because of your speeding. That would probably prompt the maximum penalty.

  7. Why is everyone so surprised. I drive a good amount and I have never ever seen a NJSP trooper driving under 80mph. I have seen them multiple times tailgating dangerously within 5 feet and then turning their lights on until the person moves over then continuing in excess of 80mph.

The bottom line is they know they are above the law and they get away with it.

In general the NJSP is hypocrisy at its finest.

It sucks to know that they get away with it and us lowly citizens will get a huge ticket for the same thing, but in the end I really don't care because they are below me so fudge em.

  8. After zimmerman is told to stop following he initionally keeps running and then does stop following. He losses the kid, his breath slows, the wind into the phone slows, and he finishes the converstion with the operator. They must have met again a few minutes after the kid intially ran and zimmerman didn't know where he went.

Why they released the audio and not other details is beyond me. A lot of things could be cleared up with a few more small details.

  9. I took the MSF course at County College of Morris; went great. Book way ahead of time, like months. If you don't book far enough ahead of time you can try to standby, usually 2 or 3 people don't show up. You'll have to get there by atleast 0600 to standby.

Any course will be more than worth it.

  10. I keep a straight blade, stainless, medium folder as a personal knife for eating, cutting webbing or paracord, and small things. I also keep an M9 and that would be used in a combat role and heavier cutting. Thats plenty to me and I wouldn't want to add anymore weight. I wouldn't choose a different combat knife because you don't gain that much and would lose the bayonet ability. I also wouldn't carry more than 2 knives.

  11. Get a Government issued Photo ID for your home in the other state and you're good to go. NJ can't touch you and you are following Federal Law.

    Thats a good idea thanks.

Now what if you buy a handgun In the other state that is NJ legal and you use the government ID instead of having it transferred into NJ.

Now it's illegal to bring it back to NJ and no way to make it NJ legal right?

  12. A New Jersey resident (DL in NJ, main residence/job in NJ) owns a house or vacation home in a gun friendly state; let’s say Vermont.

Can the NJ resident buy firearms that are banned by name in NJ if the firearms stay in VT on the property owned by him or her?

They way I read it the laws seem prevent this.

You are breaking NJ laws by buying any firearm that isn’t allowed in NJ out of state even if you don’t bring the gun back into NJ and keep it at a residence in VT owned by you? Is that correct?

  13. Im just saying how it is. Its your problem to deal with. I couldn't care less how long it takes you to convince someone your firearms are legal. There are many ways to enact a change of culture in our state, and until it does, my time is worth more to me than winning a pissing contest with some rookie gumshoe.

Im not saying dont carry your FID or I don't carry my FID.

I DO carry my FID and I think it does have a certain retard prevetion value.

It's just weird to me that you seem, from the way you've spoken, to accept it like it's ok. Don't you feel like it's bs that a cop can give you a hard time for not having something that there is no requirement to have, and the explanation can be well many police don't know that you don't need it?

  14. I think what he's saying if you don't want to have a bigger hassle than necessary, to just carry it.

I have copies of mine just so they don't give me crap. If you don't want to carry them, you are well within your rights. But I wouldn't be surprised if they gave you more of a hard time.

I Understand exactly what he is saying, and its wrong. There is no reason why I should have a "bigger hassle" for not carrying it; thats just wrong. No two ways about it.

I somewhat understand what you are saying. Apparently I'm well within my rights, but your ok with the fact that I would likely get a hard time for something that is well within my rights.

I'm not saying you won't get a hard time. I'm simply saying it's wrong and it's wrong to condone it or brush it off.

  15. I know, but do you realize how many of my fellow LEO's don't know that......................

That is why I carry it, have worn it out, though it is laminated, and can't get a duplicate without paying $18 for another one, so it stays ratty-looking but still in one piece.

You say that so casually as if we are somehow obligated to carry our FID's because LEO's dont know that you don't have to carry it.

I find that totally ridiculous and flat out wrong.

  16. Squirrels eat at my roof and try to make home in the rafters. It’s possible that I shoot some of mine with a pellet gun. I don't think it’s legal. I wouldn’t do it if I lived anywhere near a school. I would recommend getting a metal trap "have a heart" type. Just put a little cheap peanut butter on cheap wheat bread in it. Then when you catch them you can bring them inside and kill them, or drop them off somewhere miles away, etc.

    I caught 5 this fall/winter.

If you have a squirrel family and can get rid of all of them you will be squirrel free for atleast a season or two.

You want to get them in the fall when they are the most active out gathering the nuts that have fallen.

  17. In a perfect world I'd turn it in and forget about it. In NJ I'd be worried that they might try to charge me even for trying to do the right thing.

I would most likely bury it in the woods in a deep hole. If I lived in an urban area I would destroy it by simply cutting the reciever roughly in half like a typical demilled reciever. I would sell or keep the parts.
