  1. hmm i don't see many reviews for patriot. are they good quality? also, how do most of you transfer the safe from curb into the house?
  2. I do like Liberty safes but is 12 gauge really enough? For that price, I might as well just get the Winchester 24 gun (~$1500 vs. $650) safe no?
  3. I'm in Bergen county. I saw the Tractor supply winchester safe, it's good for the $, but its 12 gauge steel. I think it would be just a good in between safe, but not really stop someone from breaking into it.
  4. Hey all, I'm in the market for a gun safe, preferably one that can hold around 24 guns and is made of 10 gauge steel. I noticed Liberty's and Cannon's are relatively popular, but they seem to be all made with 12 gauge steel (at least in the price range I'm looking at). Is 12 gauge really enough given an axe can chop through it? I'm willing to be somewhat flexible in terms of pricing, but not significantly, if I can find a safe that meets those requirements. Any safe stores I should visit or should I just buy online? Thanks in advance.
  5. sorry for the lack of updates. so i decided i really wanted the LW upper so i had the govt profile sent back. i also was having an issue with the rail i wanted ant the upper being pinned, so i went with unpinned. i went with the troy HK style sights, 11" troy TRX battle rail, and got a bunch of XTM rail covers. i'm holding off on the giessele SSA for now until i can make a better decision on it. btw, how much does it cost to fix a pmag at 15 rounds?
  6. Got it. I will probably just have Paul file the FSB down. I do like the 11 rail but was worried about the work it would take. Hmm I hear u devsadvocate. I'll use this barrel for now, but if it gets to be too heavy, I'll swap it out for a lightweight Does anyone have the giessele ssa trigger? Is it worth the upgrade?
  7. I did want the lightweight but it seemed to have a big trade off with accuracy and heat. Does the 6 oz really make a big difference?
  8. i was debating between a lightweight and govt for a while and was leaning towards LW, but G&R ended up only having the govt pinned in stock. Since the barrel is already pinned with the battlecomp, will it be an issue securing on a free float rail? i'm having trouble deciding between a 9" or 11" rail. Would a 10" rail cover the midlength gas tube?
  9. This is my first AR and I decided to go with a BCM upper and lower from G&R. So far, this is what I've already ordered: BCM upper, 14.5" govt w/ pinned 1.5 battlecomp BCM bcg BCM gunfighter mod 4 BCM blem lower Magpul STR stock I'm thinking of getting: Magpul MOE+ grip Troy 11" battlerail bravo La Rue HK style flip sights Magpul XTM rail covers or Troy rail covers What do you guys think? I'm particularly interested in thoughts on the rail and sights. I'm having Paul from A-n-A doing the gun smithing. Also am I missing anything?
  10. Finally got word. They have my application and they know I've been calling about it. They're low on man power supposedly and FIDs are low on their priority list. Refereneces should be sent out this week and they still have to do some checks. What the heck.... Anything I can do to expedite the process? I don want to wait 3 months. Should I hire a lawyer?

  12. Very nice nitro. Finally was able to get a hold of someone at the department but the detective wasn't in. Going to have to call again...
  13. I should note, I called a few days later to make sure the original detective got my paperwork.
  14. I got fingerprinted oct 9 and submitted my paperwork that day for my FID and 4 permits. The detective that was handling it was out, so another detective took the papers. So far, it's been 2.5 weeks and my references haven't received letters and I haven't heard a word from Paramus PD. Anything I can do?
  15. Yea.... I have an appointment in 2 weeks. What a pain
  16. yup i will be applying for pistol permits as well. has anyone had experience with SagemMorpho before? how are they in their turn around? anyone ever deal with Paramus PD before? are they good in getting your FID and permits done in 30 days? just trying to get an expected time frame. thanks!
  17. ah i see. thanks for the clarification maksim.
  18. thanks so much. im in the process of getting my FID. for some reason Paramus outsourced their fingerprinting to a third party... in which i have to wait 2 weeks until they have an appointment. is there another way i can get fingerprinted sooner? i think im going to contact the PD tomorrow and ask. my fathers wife has already started the selling process.
  19. thank you all for the sound advice and condolences. i will try to ask her to disclaim the guns, put it in writing, and will work on getting a FID and permits. in the meantime, can someone with a FID hold onto them for me? or can I hold on to them? or does his wife have to?
  20. before he passed, my father did talk about giving me his guns. although there is no written will, is it possible to still have a legal transfer through his wife?
  21. thank you everyone. my father did not leave a will (he was relatively young at the time of death) and he was legally married. the wife does not want to keep the guns at all and has talked about donating or giving away the guns, much to my dismay. I should be able to talk to her and keep a select number of guns. In this case, without a will, can there be a legal transfer from my father's estate to me?
  22. my father recently passed away without a will and left quite a few guns (rifles, shotguns, handguns) behind. i currently do not have have a FID, but will be applying for one in the near future. Is there a way I can possess a few of the guns (namely the ones that we used to go shooting with) in the mean time? if not, can someone with a FID hold onto them for me until I have a FID? how does NJ law deal with transfer of firearms? thanks!
