  1. What's confusing me is advertising and my understanding of SA vs DA. In a semi automatic pistol - my familarity is the 1911 - once you have chambered a round, the hammer is back. Depress the trigger and bang. Casing ejected, another round chambered and the hammer is ready for another shot. If you chamber a round and release the hammer to a 'safe' position, you have to manually re-cock in order to fire. Both examples are single action. Now if you insert a clip with both the slide and the hamer 'safe', depressing the trigger chambers a round, re-cocks the hammer, releases the hammer and - bang. Double action. So why am I seeing DA only or SA/DA descriptions for 9mm?
  2. Looking for my first semi-auto in 9mm. Obviously new to pistols so what's the difference between DAO and SAO.
  3. Marlton calls the references. They also added an un-announced visit to your home where they check your driver's license. My P2P was yesterday and an officer was here last evening.
  4. I went through the process of obtaining a hand gun permit and have purchased one. Now I'd like to purchase a second revolver. What forms/etc do I need this time?
  5. Thanks for the advice. I have a very old Western Field (aka Montgomery Wards) 22lr single shot rifle and a Ruger 10/22 carbine. Both purchased quite legally.
  6. Huge difference between New York City and the rest of the state. Anyone can legally purchase a long gun. Same goes for ammo which is sold in K-Mart and places like that. New York City, Buffalo and maybe a couple of other large cities are somewhat restrictive but for the rest of the state it's much fairer. Of course nothing is quite like NYC but then most upstaters would sell NYC off anyway.
  7. Although I became a NJ resident quite a few years ago, I didn't bring my two .22 rifles with me. Now that I've gotten a handgun permit in NJ I'm wondering what to do about my rifles. I don't have any receipts for them and New York doesn't have the ridiculous firearms laws that NJ has; so now what? I'd appreciate any thoughts any of you may have.
