  1. My link

Gotta love how this was handled.

Sadly, this is the most appropriate harassment of a law-abiding citizen exercising their rights I've seen. I saw this the other day and was tempted to post it. What the officer is doing is wrong to begin with, but at least it didn't turn into the clusterf*** that most OC harassment stops do.

  2. Just got back. It was great match!! I was expecting ONE stage to be no/low light, but the entire match was! Very surprised. The third and forth stages were harder, because we just had a red strobe light that provided light. It was next to impossible to see the sights. Can't wait to see the scores.

Was a great match, though not in terms of my score heh. Nick really eviscerated those last two, it was awesome.

  3. Just as an example, I recently stopped by Griffen and Howe which is just a 3 min drive for me. I had never been in before and knew that they sold beautiful (expensive) rifles and shotguns, and I was actually a little nervous about going in given that I wasn't planning to buy anything. The gentlemen who greeted me in the store was extremely nice, and encouraged me to go around and handle all the guns I wanted. I held/caressed/examined probably $900k worth of inventory, given that they price some of their shotguns at almost 200k+. If a gun store can not only allow but encourage a relatively poor college student to examine and shoulder at Fabbri O/U with a $196,000.00 pricetag, a local gun shop should let you touch their Mossbergs all you want.

  4. I'll let you use one of my Streamlight TLR-1's, Mark. should be able to manipulate it ok with 1 hand. I've practiced a bit with it like that.

I've got a Fenix L2T you can use.

Awesome, thanks guys! I'll try both if that's alright, I'm not sure which will be too large for my tiny girl hands :(

Also for those of you worried about being registered, I talked to Tom last night at SCFGPA IDPA practice and he mentioned that yes I was signed up. I didn't get any response from him either when I emailed him so I think you can rest assured that you're on his list if you emailed him already. I figure he'll only email you back if he can't fit you on the list, sort of "no news is good news".

  5. I'll be there. Hopefully none of you people who can actually shoot attend just like last month, SSP CHAMP MRP!

The only flashlight I have that's pushbutton operated isn't very well suited for shooting with. I'll bring it either way but is there anyone who might have a spare I could borrow if mine proves too troublesome? I'll buy you a beer after!

  6. Can you imagine trying to explain to someone in say 1880 Texas that they can't sell their colt to Jimbob down the road because he already dun buyed one from Jeb two weeks ago? This sh*t drives me nuts. Being a poor college student I don't even have the funds to buy another pistol at the moment, but just knowing I can't buy one today and one say 3 weeks from now makes me sad.

  7. Try and find a lightly-used Remmy 581. My dad recently gave me his and it's fantastic. Very sturdy, 6 lug bolt, smooth action, extremely light, and consistently good looking stocks. They're extremely accurate too, from a rest at 25yds (I know not very far but it was at SCFGPA indoor range) I shot a 5 shot group measuring .36 using the stock ironsights. They're fairly inexpensive from what I've seen on gunbroker.

  8. It's a bit of a drive for me, but if I'm going to look in to heading out there. Sounds like less of a social event and more of a purely shooting event. Although I think seeing people you know and shooting the **** with them is as much fun as shooting -0's, it sounds like a good way to get some practice in.

  9. There is one fixed stock Sig 522 available and it's well over $600 after tax and Nics.

Anyone know of a cheaper version? I really would like one of these guns but it just annoys me that free states can get one for a $450.

While the NJ legal one appears to have some kind of sights on it and a quad rail in front, none of that matters to me.

I'd like to know also, my neighbor recently mentioned he wanted one but couldn't find a decent price.

  10. Told ya I'd be using it :D

My father and I are in the process of "renovating" (moving stuff around) our basement right now, so it won't see as much use right now as it will in a couple months...although it will be used to help fix our grill soon. I wouldn't have taken it off you hands if I didn't think I would use it, I would have let it go to a better home.

Bob, glad it worked out for you. Wish I was able to make it this weekend to see you shoot the revolver! Now you just need to attach MOLLE straps to make it tacticool :icon_mrgreen:

Great I just spit milk/protein all over my mouse. I should know not to eat or drink around the general discussion forums.

    Looks awesome Bob!

  11. FOUND THIS.

If web of hand formed by thumb and index finger is above line, it is legal. Below the line would be considered a pistol grip.

    WHAT SAY YOU?

Where is this documented? It's VERY interesting. I won't be buying an AR in the near future but it brings up quite a few questions. Namely, how do they define "grip" if someone grips higher than another, do they run less risk of being illegal? Also this is absurdly silly, even for NJ.

  12. quote from http://www.chuckhawks.com/handgun_home_defense.htm

Autoloading pistols are more likely to jam than a revolver, particularly if fired through cloth, say from under a bathrobe in a sudden emergency, from an unusual orientation (upside down for instance), or with a "limp wrist" (insecure hold). They have one other very significant drawback: they are magazine fed and the spring in a loaded magazine is tightly compressed. Magazines should be rotated on, at least, a monthly basis. The spring in a loaded magazine left unattended for an extended period of time may take a "set" and then lack the pressure to reliably feed cartridges, causing a jam.

I'm fairly certain that this has been disproved multiple times. Think of a beat-to-sh*t car sitting on blocks, the suspension was probably still keeping the car raised and it may have been sitting there for decades.
