  1. Hello Everyone,
I obtained a Precision Armament M4-72 muzzle break for my birthday back in May. I currently have the firearm out being threaded and when it comes back I plan to have a gunsmith attach the break for NJ compliance. I am currently running into an issues where the maker of the break says not to install the device using crush washers. However, my gunsmith feels that it would be fine to use crush washers and that the company is trying to sell me their washer kits. This is the first time having the gun threaded so I want it to be installed correctly. I trust my smith since he is very experienced with installs but I am concerned about using crush washers since they say not to use them to install their breaks. I could use spacers to install the break instead but my smith said he gets best results with crush washers. I really need feedback on now to proceed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Here is what the manufacture claims
"Crush washers are perfectly acceptable to use on any open aperture muzzle device, such as the standard A2 birdcage flash hider. However, our opinion is they should never be used on any baffle style muzzle device where the clearance hole is only slightly larger than the bullet. Firstly, crush washers come to a knife edge on both mating surfaces - it is likely for this reason that a muzzle device is already misaligned just sitting on the crush washer before it is even torqued down. More importantly, it relies on the principle that the washer will deform uniformly while it is being crushed. This requires that the material is uniform and that you apply a perfectly pure torque load normal to the bore. This is very unlikely (for anyone who has installed one) when you're putting all your might into the 30-60 ft-lbs of torque they often require. The consequence of this misalignment is a baffle strike at worse and impaired accuracy at best.

We recommend our Accu-Washer Shim System for installation as they alleviate both of these issues providing the highest safety and performance from your device. Also, a peel washer or any precision multi-shim system are also perfectly acceptable methods for aligning your muzzle device.

Also consider that crush washers have the capacity to deform further beyond your install. So, if you happen to hit the muzzle on something with enough force you may permanently angle your device to the side killing your accuracy or worse: rendering the rifle useless."

  2. Hello Everyone,

Thank you very much for the advice, I really appreciate it! I was curious does the class provide the firearms you are going to teach on or do you bring your own? There are so many different rifle/shotgun setup's including iron sights, red dots, fiber optics, scopes exc. Its hard to know how to practice for the class. If applicable does anyone know the types of rifles/shotguns provided for these courses for the field test? Is there any study guides I can look up for these tests before taking the class? Also how does it work with legality for training a student? Should you use your own guns to teach them or should you use theirs? What happens if there is an accident from either party? Thank you for any help you can provide.

  3. Hello Everyone,

I recently saw where Banger's Sport Shop is going to offer the NRA Rifle & Shotgun Instructors course. I am very interested in taking this class to become an NRA Certified Instructor. Has anyone taken these courses in the past? If so, what does the course cover and what is needed to pass the course? Is there anything I need to prepare for ahead of time such as field skills tests, written exams exc? They also require another course before taking the shotgun and rifle courses called the BIT test. Does anyone know what is covered? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  4. Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has been down to the AC Bass Pro Shop? I saw on their website that they have an indoor range. Does anyone know if the range is open yet and if so what are their prices and rules? Thank you for any help you can provide.

  5. Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased a Beofeng GT-3TP portable radio and I am wanting to obtain an antenna to connect to the radio to use indoors to pickup more local broadcasts. I was wondering if this is possible to do or do I need to mount a large antenna high on my roof to obtain these types of signals? I am working on a small budget. Also does anyone know of any good HAM radio clubs in SJ for beginners? Thank you for any help you can provide.

  6. I have a question about repeaters. I how wondering does a repeater only allow you to transmit further or can it amplify your radio connections to pickup radio chatter further away?

  7. Hello Everyone,

My brother and I just purchase the Baofeng GT-3TP radios. They just arrived today actually. I wanted to obtain the license to be able to transmit does anyone know a place in South Jersey to take this course? Is the course hard to pass? I really would like to legally be able to use these radios? Also do ham radios work well in the woods for camping trips?

  8. Hello Everyone,

Thank you very much for the advice. I picked up another pack of 4 shot Winchesters to try and pattern in addition to the long beard #5. My brother and I are both going on the hunt along with a guide. Perhaps I see if the guide has a blind we can use. What types of call should I purchase? Also good luck on everyone's hunts this year as well! It would be great to post up a couple pictures once the hunt is over on this message to see what everyone achieved. Thank you again.

  9. Thank you everyone. I am hope to get out soon to pattern. I also have a 3 1/2 Remington Turkey load to pattern. I was wondering if the shot size makes a difference I purchased number 5 from Dicks since that's all they offered but they also make number 4 in the long beard.

  10. Thank you everyone for the help. To provide a bit more information I am using a Mossberg 585 12 gage in hardwoods camo. I currently have a ported turkey choke which I plan on using for the hunt. I unfortunately do not have the equipment for the loading at this time and would like to purchase some good commercial loads off the shelf. Does anyone have any good recommendations? The shotgun does have a 3 1/2" chamber so I am open to using the full power of the load. Thank you for your help.

  11. Hello Everyone,

I am going to be going on my first Turkey hunt this year and I was looking into gear. I was wondering if someone could recommend a shotgun load that patterns really well for medium to long range distance turkey hunting. Are their certain flight control loads which will maximize a small impact zone for a head shot? Thank you for the help!

  12. Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone would know of a place where I could purchase an original K31 frog with the belt buckle? I have looked all over including Ebay but I am having a really hard time locating them. I would greatly appreciate any help you could provide.

  13. Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if a gun shop based in NJ can legally sell collapsible and folding stocks to Military and Law Enforcement agencies? I realize that FFL's can have collapsible stocks in order to legalize them for civilians but can guns shops sell these types of unaltered stocks directly to Military and Law Enforcement agencies?

  14. I do not have experience with Squarespace but I avoided them years ago because there was no phone support. However, this might of changed over the years. If you are wanting more an e-commerce website I would recommend a company called 3D Cart. They have comprehensive e-commerce system that is both template based and allows you to edit their websites through FTP. You could most likely create a website without coding since their content control panel is really good. However, if you really wanted to customize the website you will have to preform some basic code editing. If you wanted to check it out their website is http://www.3dcart.com/ They also offer a free trial period and provides you the ability to create a blog. I hope this helps!
