  1. WOW --  I would send that piece of bass along with the die back to them and get a full refund -- No way I would accept that

I find it hard to believe that Redding let that happen -- Twice

As I said before -- Redding is my go to die --  I'll buy other brands but the Reddings need to be unavailable or considerably more expensive before I do so

I dont doubt that.  They may make a fine die otherwise.  They cannot seem to master the 45 colt/454 cassul/ 460 s&w mag die.  Since they are still in business I will assume this is an isolated incident.  They have shown me personally why I will never buy another die set from them though.

I may send then the die again, the two pieces of brass from the pic, a fired piece of brass, and the BCBS sized piece of brass.  At the moment I am still a little pissed off though.

  2. OK, I gave redding a chance.  They sent me back a die that is FAR WORSE than the piece of crap I sent them.  I have since given up and thrown it out before I destroy any more brass.  The case on the top was resized with a RCBS die.  The one on the botom is sharp as hell where that ridge is.  I dont think they understand the 460 S&W mag at all.  I know there are people here that love redding and all but they dont know crap about the 460.

  3. I ended up getting the RCBS 505. Thanks.

Out of all the scales I have tried, the 5-0-5 is still my favorite.  It doesnt need to warm up, it doesnt drift, and it is not affected my magnetic interference.

  4. Hey guys and girls.  This is my first post and I just wanted to say hi.  I just received my FPID card, and since NJ gun laws are so crazy I thought it would be good to meet some knowledgable people.  I was referred here by a member of another forum and I already like it a lot.  I'm looking to purchase my first firearm soon.  Hopefully I can get my hands on a Tavor.  Glad to meet everyone.

Wow!  Go big or go home!  Welcome to the site.

  5. Ken -- Cheyane is far for me -- especially to pay near $40 per K --  I'm meeting a guy at OBRPC on sunday who has an unopened case of 5000

Price isn't great but it's better than $40 per --

Now before this gets out of hand I don't blame the guy I'm buying from for the price -- He's right where everyone else is and it's probably near what they cost him

I just hate the fact, as a reloader for over 20 years, that we are all forced to pay these silly prices for components -- I'll do it to keep going, but I don't like it

I know what you mean.  I just keep posting it in case you or anyone else reading this is getting desperate.  I really dont like substituting components either.  I have been reloading almost as long as you And am none too happy about the pricing either.  The one that I need and cant find very reliably at all is Winchester large rifle primers.  Like you said though, you can either pay it or park your guns.  I pay it and hate it too,

  6. If 206 is a parking lot then it might be worth taking back roads. Not long after the circle in Somerville you can swing a right on E Somerset Street. Make a left on Lyman street which will take you over a bridge, I think it's the Basilone Bridge. That puts you onto River Road. Stay on River Rd (bear right when it splits into Roycefield). Go a couple miles and swing a left on Beekman Ln. Make a right on S Branch Rd and then a left on E Mountain Rd. Take E Mountain (cross Amwell) all the way down until it runs into Blawenburg Belle Meade Rd (601) near Carrier Clinic. Make a right on 601. You can take that road a long ways down. You can get back to 206 by using Rt 518, Cherry Valley Rd, etc. 601 eventually turns into Great Rd and then Elm and then runs directly into 206 south of downtown Princeton.

There are variations you can do to this, like using Dukes Parkway W to New Center, etc.

Edit: I've always had good luck with River Rd and Beekman in terms of speed. Typically highway speeds in some of the longer stretches.

    This ^^

That would almost be my chosen route.  I take a couple different back roads in that mix with similar results.

  7. I dont think I would try motor oil.  It is proabably an excelent case lube.  The problem lies in getting it off the brass.  Oil is bad for primers and powder.  most case lubes are water soluble and will come off real easy in a tumbler or by just simply wiping it off.  Sometimes you just have to stick with what works.  I use Hornady one shot and RCBS case lube #2 and sometimes RCBS case slick when I can find it.  I know it costs more than alcohol and lanolin or motor oil but case lube is not something you use by the gallon.  A little bit goes a long way.

  8. How long have you been a G dealer?

I think most of the engine issues they had was related to the outsourcing of the engines. AFAIK, that has been corrected with the building of a stateside engine manufacturing plant.

Their customer service at one time was horrible (Google). But, they would not still be in business if things didn't change.

About a year.  Generac has had various spates of engine troubles.  All manufacturers have.  The thing rite now is improper valve adjustments.  For all you that have generators installed make sure that whoever does your first service actually does adjust the valves.   I have found a lot of them to be to tight (to little clearance) and have seen one burn an exhaust valve.

Improper service is deadly to any generator.

Im not brand loyal and going to tell everyone the generac is the only good generator out there....its not, there are lots of good ones.  Lately I have stopped using their transfer switches in favor of the Eaton switches with the RTC100 controller built in due to issues with generacs load shed module. Certain instalations really benefit by this substitution, mainly critical need, medical need situations.  Overall though, I have had very little problems with the units that are installed properly.

  9. The biggest issue with lack of exercise is that bugs and rodents will start to move in.  When the generator exercises it gets hot enough inside that enclosure to discourage most life.  REgular exercise also keeps a film of oil on all the moving parts.  Remeber, these things go from 0 to full throttle instantly when started.

  10. Suppose to be Trickle charging even in off mode that is what the tech told me...Maybe NJ-Ken can confirm if he reads this (thanks Ken!).

Yep. it will charge in any position of the switch.  The only thing that will stop it from charging is to remove the battery or the T1 fuse inside the transfer switch.

  11. I'm going to chalk it up to operator error.  Somehow I must have not charged the case with powder.  The only thing that confuses me is that round # 24 shows 3.9 gr and round #25 (squib round) shows 4.1 gr.  Now, rounds numbered 26 to 29 also show 4.1 gr.

As Jer mentioned these were 30 test rounds.  The other 170 I pressed off performed fine.

Look at the bright side, you where paying enough attention while shooting to identify a squib.  If you are not paying attention and the squib load has enough energy to cycle a new round in you are in trouble.  If you are shooting a revolver its even easier to do if your not paying attention.

I did it once with a 223 round, squib that is, and would have swore that all rounds had powder.  I did miss one though.  Funny thing is it was a small batch for load development just like yours.  It taught me to pay more attention while reloading and it has not happened again yet.
