  1. Good advice, already followed! I have a mk2 tapered 8" with a dovetail mounted fastfire, love it! It gave me the bug. I could start small and change out the front sight for a fibre-optic instead of my orange painted one.

My 226 is my run-n-gun, so wanted to mod that, so still searching for a P226 kit.

  2. I am thinking of now modding my P226 for this. I found StormLake makes a drop-in barrel that I can get cut with 2 ports or threaded. If I get threads then I need to find a comp. Which is better, ports or comp? With a comp, dont you have to remove it ech time for cleaning?

I am still looking for a way to get a top rail on this to mount some sort of red-dot. Some sort of home kit that requires only minimal drilling. I want the mount on the frame and not the slide. Maybe a c-more sight. And a slide racker for the rear dovetail. tj custom works has spme nice stuff but the price is up there.

  3. Looking to move out of production, so thinking of open division. I want to stay with 9mm for cost reasons, not interested in reloading. Yes, I will be shooting minor, but I have no plans for nationals, I just like getting out, enjoying the local courses, and competing against my prior scores.

I am looking for something compensated, with a red dot, that I can use 15 round mags with (larger when I leave nj), stainless finish.

I have no clue where to start my research. What are my options?

  4. For example, just about every saturday has nra-pistol, does that take up the entire pistol range? Then I see many sundays that have rifle events, does that use the entire high power range?

Now, if an event is using the pistol range, can I set up targets at 7-15 yards on the regular rifle range?

  5. Was checking through the calendar at Central Jersey, and it seems just about everything is booked solid on the weekends for the rest of the summer, such as the outdoor pistol and most of the pits. Is this correct or am I reading the calendar wrong? If I join this club, is it a lost cause for any weekend shooting for either pistol or 50 yard rifle?

  6. I agree with the .22... i'm def in no rush to buy that... in my intro post i explain the first gun i shot was a glock 21 .45cal.. i had no idea it was the big boy! lol but the guy at the range said afterwords he started me off with that because everything else i shoot from then on should be easier lol ... i'm actually glad i started off with that.

I would rethink this one. With a 22lr you can do static steel, action steel, pie plates, obrams (uspsa), indoor, outdoor, 7 yards, 100 yards, all while saving some serious money. For example, a typical match going through 250 rounds in 9mm will run $50 in ammo, and about $10 in 22lr. A mag dump compares $2 to 0.36 cents. For some that could be the difference in going to the range once per month vs every week. Get a conversion kit for that Glock

  7. Here are the directions to the Shongum Range: http://shongum.org/c...directions.html The class on March 31st at 9:00AM is at the Shongum range in Mansfield. If you are using a GPS, check the directions against Map Quest or you will wind up by the Pequest Trout Hatchery. Shongum in NOT near the Pequest Trout Hatchery. You take the left on the other side of Route 46 from the county library which is miles before the hatchery.

Doesnt Route 31 take you to Janes Chapel Rd? Then its just past Pequest Furnace Road?

  8. Historic Route 66 is a nice drive. I have done sections of it in Arizona and California. There are a few tv shows that highlight what you can see, also check out the making of the Cars movie.

It would also be cheaper to get one of those little sleeper trailers to pull, would also make the trip more interesting.

  9. Zem Sensgard SG31 model. NRR of 31. That's all I use, indoors or out. Takes some getting used to, because it still sounds loud, but they apparently "filter" any damaging waves. There is an explanation on their site - just don't expect them to block your hearing, as plugs or muffs do. Comfortable for all day wear and they don't get in the way with a long gun. They are an acquired taste.

    Adios,

These things are great for outdoors. I can hear people speak perfect, and cuts down the 12 guage blast extremely well at a crowded trap range. I had them on for about 3 hours, forgot they were even there. No problem wearing a hat over these. +1
