Thanks! I have a query in to the CJ site. He has been paper punching for years, and recently graduated to fruit at Dix. He sees the videos when I do idpa, and is salivating. If he is gtg for the steel, should hold him over for awhile.

We have had people under 16 compete regularly. I think the youngest one I had no problem trusting to reliably shoot safely was an 11 year old girl.
If you want to let them try uspsa, start at the indoor matches.
I was thinking of the CJ steel match this sunday, the rimfire division. That is static steel, correct?

What is the age requirement for these matches? After the zombie match, my 16 year old is itching to get into this sport. Is it 18 for both rifle and pistol events?

It's not just your wallet that one needs to protect. A friend of mine recently left his iPhone in a taxi. Never got it back. But he did not have a password on it. All his emails, personal info, photos, access to bank accounts, eBay, ... Was all on there in the many iPhone apps, and all with saved passwords and full access. It can always be worse!

Does the zombie match count as a prior obrams match?

Its better to have these moments when you are not impacted by a disaster, than to have a disaster and wish you had those moments. Its always good to take time and realize what we have, does not matter what triggered the thought, as long as you act on it.

Well, I had no problem with either of my Saigas today, they just needed a better shooter behind them!
On that Stage Ray had problems with I did excellent except............. I took 3 shots with my wifes Baretta on the swinging target and one of them hit the girl. Oh well.................
Some of those AR's made a lot of noise and fire compared to my AK, I was quite suprised at the difference in that ammo.
I fired about 10 shots at the swinger and 7 hit the girl, at least the zombie didnt survive, she was bitten so it was only a matter of minutes until she turned zombie

Costco online has an ETQ 7250 watt / 8250 surge (eastern tool & equipment inc) for $849 shipped. Nice feature on this one is the extra electronics that provides a clean sine wave for computers and such, also has remote start, and will auto throttle the engine based on load. Has enough power to run my furnace in case of frozen trees taking out the power lines.
Costco put this on sale for $649 beginning 9/15 for online. I just called them and they adjusted my order.

The next thing i found in my research is the lenght of the cable from the generator to your subpanel. I want to keep the gen in the garage, and move it to the driveway to run it outside. Of course my panel is on the other side of the house. So eithr i drag it across the yard in the snow, or I run a 80' cable to the other side. It will be a 30 amp circuit, so if I go 8 guage wire I should be good for the long cable run with a less than 2% loss at full load.

Plus $60 tax.
Amazon has the slightly smaller model (6000 watt / 6950 surge) for $749...no tax, free shipping. Might be worth looking into if you don't need the extra watts. 6000 should power just about everything you need in your home.
True, but check the Amazon fine print, no returns on this item. Cant beat Costco's policy, so to me its worth a few buck more.

Trees down everywhere, but none knocked out my power. Lots of near misses. However, only 3 blocks down the street lost power for 2 days. I feel I am pushing my luck! Especially in winter the ice always takes out several trees in my area. I have since ordered a generator from Costco Even if I never use it, I will sleep better at night. Got one big enough to run my well (220) and heat (110). I will install a dpdt switch so I can isolate the device, and add a locking socket for a safe connection. Now, the generator should be grounded to earth, and my household wiring is grounded to earth, so do I also have to isolate ground for the device, or is it good as all is earthy?

Range 14 is open! Was there today, no damage to the facility, all local roads were open.

I joined and had a great time. The potatoes and apples did not stand a chance! Would like to get there again this Wednesday, but don't know how they did with the storm.
-
Do you have to join for the $60, or can you just show up and pay the $3 per hour? What is the benefit to join? Its a haul for me to get there, but would like to make the trip out there once to try this range.

Love my 452 FullStock. I have a raised set of rings so I can use both the iron sights and the scope. Very accurate.

I am thinking of trying this range. Targeting fruit and plastic bottles sounds like fun. How are they if you empty a ruger 1022 magazine in 2 seconds?
-
It was a great range, much better than Rays. They even allowed shotguns as long as you were firing slugs. I think it was around $8, and if they were not crowded you could stay for hours. They also rented handguns to try, had a good assortment.

I am buying cheese doodles. Lots and lots of cheese doodles.

I used to love my 10/22, then I added a S&W MP15-22. Enough said.

I've had bad experiences with the owner. Definitely someone to avoid - he's only out to make a buck. No interest in safety or promoting Airsoft in a positive manner.
They are a very expensive place to shop in. I can save at least $20-50 online. They also changed their store policy on returns, there are none! They test fire each airsoft before you leave. If you have any problems you need to ship it to the manufacturer, they wash their hands once out the door. They do sell a 3 month warranty for $40 each. Online I get 30 days and they pay shipping. The kids wanted to play on their indoor and outdoor fields, just too expensive.

Tried the wedge on my SW-orc, had to slice that wedge to be paper thin to get it to fit. A few open/close attempts just made a mess out of that sliced wedge.
wedgie bad.

Check out Harbor Freight. They have a 20x-60x with tripod and soft case. Wait for a sale and grab a 20% coupon drops it to under $40 out the door. Works good enough for the times I shoot at 100+ yards.

My Grandmother has yarn, and knows how to use it. I think it's pre-ban.
