  3. CZ-USA makes a rabbit ear coach gun. Cimarron are supposed to be good. Don't Know. Google up Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) and the Cowboy Action Websites. A little poking around on their blogs will give you a feeling for what is good.

  4. Bruxism is when you clench (tightly hold your top and bottom teeth together) or grind (slide your teeth back and forth over each other) your teeth.

From the U.S. National Library of Medicine - The World's Largest Medical Library website:

    Treatment

The goals of treatment are to reduce pain, prevent permanent damage to the teeth, and reduce clenching as much as possible.

To help relieve pain, there are many self-care steps you can take at home. For example:

    • Apply ice or wet heat to sore jaw muscles. Either can have a beneficial effect.
    • Avoid eating hard foods like nuts, candies, steak.
    • Drink plenty of water every day.
    • Get plenty of sleep.
    • Learn physical therapy stretching exercises to help restore a normal balance to the action of the muscles and joints on each side of the head.
    • Massage the muscles of the neck, shoulders, and face. Search carefully for small, painful nodules called trigger points that can cause pain throughout the head and face.
    • Relax your face and jaw muscles throughout the day. The goal is to make facial relaxation a habit.
    • Try to reduce your daily stress and learn relaxation techniques.

To prevent damage to the teeth, mouth guards or appliances (splints) have been used since the 1930s to treat teeth grinding, clenching, and TMJ disorders. A splint may help protect the teeth from the pressure of clenching.

A splint may also help reduce clenching, but some people find that it makes their clenching worse. In others, the symptoms go away as long as they use the splint, but pain returns when they stop or the splint loses its effectiveness over time.

There are many different types of splints. Some fit over the top teeth, some on the bottom. They may be designed to keep your jaw in a more relaxed position or provide some other function. If one type doesn't work, another may.

For example, a splint called the NTI-tss fits over just the front teeth. The idea is to keep all of your back teeth (molars) completely separated, under the theory that most clenching is done on these back teeth. With the NTI, the only contact is between the splint and a bottom front tooth.

As a next phase after splint therapy, orthodontic adjustment of the bite pattern may help some people. Surgery should be considered a last resort.

Finally, there have been many approaches to try to help people unlearn their clenching behaviors. These are more successful for daytime clenching, since nighttime clenching cannot be consciously stopped.

In some people, just relaxing and modifying daytime behavior is enough to reduce nighttime bruxism. Methods to directly modify nighttime clenching have not been well studied. They include biofeedback devices, self-hypnosis, and other alternative therapies.

I suffer from this from time to time. One simple way to stop is to stick your tongue between your teeth. It'll remind you not to real fast.

Did you eyes feel sensitive also? Believe it or not you may be sensitive to the percussion of firearms. I am with certain muzzle brakes/compensators. Changed them to different style of blast deflection and problem went away.

  5. Mini's come with standard height rings. Don't remember if 1 inch or 30MM (believe 1 inch). A 40 or possibly a 42 MM optic is a big as you can get on the gun with standard size rings. Ruger does offer High Rings but you have to buy them. A 3-9 X 40 would sit very nice on the Mini. Bigggest question is how much do you want to spend. SWFA.com can be used as a reference guide. Amazon, optics planet, there are many discount houses that offer rifle scopes over CTD and Cabelas. Shop around for the best OTD price. Simmons and Bushnell are two vendors that offer nice value scopes. There are many others too! Lately I have been using Sigthmark with good luck for the price so far (Amazon). Good Luck!

  6. I reload for 7.62x39, but not for use in an SKS. SKS's will shoot anything in this caliber. Hard to justifiy reloading when you can get 1,000 rounds for low 200's delivered to you door. Corrosive ammo is the cheapest and works just fine. A little hot soapy water after shooting and it will clean up just fine.Reloadable brass is not easy or cheap to find. I rarely see bulk lots of 123gr heads either. I would find it hard to justify reloading for SKS given those cost parameters.

I recently sold all my SKS's as I have decided to reduce inventory of firearms I just don't seem to use anymore when I get the chance to go to the range. I did keep one SA and one bolt rifle in this this caliber for hunting. I load a 30 caliber 150 grain head over AA#1680 into the 7.62x39 as a hunting round. Works out great for up to 150 yard hunts.

  7. Mr C:

May I commend you on a very good debate. I was very impressed with your demeanor. Both you and the mayor were civil, and let each other state their viewpoint without interrupting each other. Kudos!

I am so tired of watching the antis interrupt while opposing viewpoints are presented. They know the only way to "justify" their position is to constantly state mis-information loud and long enough that the general public believes it. To me this is the proof that shows they know damn well their "solutions" are not the answer. Only covering their a** for the base and insuring their re-election. Who won't want to protect a job like that. The perks alone make me drool.
