  1. So after it took me close to 3 months to get my first FPID I know there is no way I am getting my new FPID and permit within the legal time limit of 30 days. I live in Edison and am just wondering when I should start calling the lady (im sure others in Edison know who im talking about) shes such a sweetheart So just to help pass the time ... where are you from and how long did it take you to get your permit?
  2. Im debating the same price range myself ... but you left out FNP-9 ... that should be one of the front runners imo.
  3. Well how much more expensive exactly is .40 S&W than 9mm honestly? Because Cost is probably what will dictate my decision ... if its not a considerable difference (because in all honesty ill be lucky to make it to the range 2x's a month) than ill just go for the .40 if not than 9mm is fine. I will eventually buy a .22lr but i think Im going to go the M&P 15-22 route to avoid having to go through the permit BS.
  4. Hey guys, First off to all rangers fans AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Ok now that that is out of my system, Is a .40 S&W a bad round to learn how to shoot with? I have been planning on a 9mm the whole time but I see the .40 ammo-wise isnt THAT much more expensive yet offers a better chance at stopping somebody should it (God forbid) ever come to that. The thing is I have heard that .40 kicks harder than a .45 in some cases and also have read that its not recommended to go higher than 9mm for anything your planning to use at the range a bunch for cost reasons. I dont plan on reloading ammo right now or anytime in the near future as I dont have the money to drop on all the cash because of a child on the way. Just curious how everyone feels ... 9mm ... or .40S&W given my circumstances. Thanks guys!
  5. Does anyone know if they really are discontinuing the FNP-9 or not? That concerns me because I dont want to buy a gun that the manufacturer isnt going to stock parts for. Im really liking the FNP-9 its between this gun the M&P9 or the PX4 storm for my first gun.

    M&P .22lr pistol

Booooo ... that sucks, I also heard that walther was actually going to be producing these guns ... which seems to have spurred some worry due to the issues with the p22. I guess in that case its better to just wait it out a bit and see how people rate these things after they have been out for a bit.

    M&P .22lr pistol

I was looking at the Smith site and saw this gem http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_785503_-1_757753_757752_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y Its and M&P .22lr pistol, I have put in a price request and only received two responses both stating that they arent able to get any info from their distributors. No youtube reviews .... can anyone enlighten me on what could be going on here? Does S&W sometime put products that arent out yet on their website? I just think I would be cool to have one not the end of the world at all, but definitely could be a cool lil plinker.
  8. I definitely am NOT going to buy a gun on this factor alone. However, it will be a factor. It might even be one of the deciding factors among the guns I'm considering.
  9. LOL Glenn thats pretty awesome Cust service right there lol.
  10. Ok so I'm still just gathering information before i make my first handgun purchase. One thing that will help me lean towards or away from a certain manufacturer is the quality of customer service (regarding repairs/replacing parts etc.) that they provide to their customers. I've heard great things about Ruger and S&W ... what about FNP? Ill put up a poll for the manufacturers Im considering making a purchase from, but if you have any other recommendations feel free to toss them out there, Thanks guys!!

    FNX-9?

This .... atleast I imagine this would be the solution. How much are these guns MSRPing at?
  12. Okay still doing my research and I have grown curious about the FNP 9 as a probable first handgun purchase. Does anyone have any experience shooting one of these? Also does anyone know of any shops in the area that carry these? (I live in Edison in case that helps)I am a little concerned as I cant find any information on whether or not they have a NJ compliant version, all the reviews I see are on a 16 rd magazine. Any info is appreciated!! Kevin
  13. You know I really did like the Beretta 92fs I was shooting at shoreshot and that was only a rental ... maybe thats an option for me to look into if as well .. thanks Mcbethr.
  14. Awesome stuff guys, I think I should be okay with my glasses then ... at least until i decide I want to step up to something that defogs but right now while im saving the extra cash while waiting for my permit im sure these will be fine .... thanks again.
  15. Oh and I'm not really a glock fan because imo theyre ugly ... no offense to anyone in the forums its just my opinion.
  16. Hey everyone, So I'm still waiting on my permit and I recently figured instead of going through this process all over again to but a .22lr handgun why not just look at the gun I can purchase in 9mm or maybe even .40S&w that have the option to be converted to .22lr to keep range costs down ... after all more shooting = better shooting .. right? Kinda stinks cause I was leaning hardcore towards the M&P in 9mm but they dont have any conversion possibilities. I was just curious what guns out there have such kits and what would you recommend? Or would I be better off just buying 2 separate guns and just throwing the whole conversion kit idea in the trash?
  17. Hey guys, So for the last few weeks after going to the range and doing reviews I always assumed i was going to grab a semi auto pistol and was leaning heavily towards a M&P. No I have read a decent amount of people suggesting that you should buy a revolver as a first gun. Im just trying to gather the main points for and against each type of gun. Also is it possible to find a revolver in 9mm if I was to go that route? As right now I think I think that it a good caliber for my first purchase. Thanks in advance for your replies, Kev
  18. Hey guys just curious as I just picked up a pair of eye glasses from the Home depot ...they are wraparound and say they are rated for CSA, OSHA, and ANSI high impact. They're really comfortable and only cost me 9 bucks! My question is, does anyone know if these glasses would be safe for use at a range? Or is there another impact rating i need to look for for range glasses?
  19. Funny I know exactly where that is ... Jake Brown Road lol ... I know that place because of Weird New Jersey lol. Its actually not far at all from my house and a LOT closer than Shoreshot is. Plus outdoor pistol just sounds awesome.
  20. O.o forum meets?? That sounds like fuuuuuun! Thanks for the warm welcome guys ... Is shoreshot the closest range to Edison open to the public?
  21. Hey everyone, So heres my story. My 27th B-day was March 27th and I decided to jump in and apply for my handgun permit. I have experience hunting/range shooting with my shotgun and have always enjoyed the range more then hunting personally so I decided that maybe shooting handguns was more what I was looking for. Anyways, I dropped by Rahway Firearms Guild and one of the workers suggested I take a trip down to ShoreShot. So thats exactly what me and a buddy did last thursday expecting just to get an idea of how we liked it ... we ended up liking it too much as we spent probably close to 3 hours there and spent waaaaay too much on ammo haha. I have the itch now and have basically been online looking at gun reviews 24/7 since. Lots of fun and I think I may have found my newest hobby.
