  1. Yes, I know they are completely separate tools in the toolbox but I will eventually end up with both. For right now I can only afford to add one new toy to my collection (im buying myself a gift for finishing college in Dec). Anyway, as of now I have a m&p 9fs, a Sr1911, an sp101 22lr and my wife has a 92fs. I stock 9mm, 22 and 223/5.56 at this time as they are the lightest rounds and cost effective for their purposes (I only really buy 45 acp as I plan to use it at the range). Here is my dilemna:

    Shield:

-I like it because it has the same ergos and platform as the M&P9fs I have which is my HD piece at this time

-I already stock 9mm and it would just be another toy I could use without having to start stocking 38/357

-Could function as a ccw piece should I ever leave New Jerz

    - its just cool and affordable

    SP101/GP100

    -Variety

    -bigger bangs at the range

-possibly a better HD option than the m&p

-its a freaking revolver, and both the sp101 and gp are tanks

-possiblty a future hunting option should I ever move somewhere that allows it

So what do you guys think?

  2. You may want to check out the Shield 9 ... many people who are S&W / M&P owners have commented they like their Shields much more than their M&P9C's and furthermore many have sold theirs or left idle to buy the Shield.

I recently got a Shield for every-day-carry (having moved to FL) and I simply love this gun.  Couldn't be happier.  I bought a Sig Sauer P226 MK25 in May, and the poor thing sits around idle because I love the Shield.  I can't even fit my beloved Glock 23 into the carry schedule... right now I have my Shield with my basically all day, everyday, everywhere.

just a thought, you may not care for it.

I have considered the shield but being in NJ the need for a gun that is pretty much built for ccw purposes is kind of pointless. I think the 9c could still be used as a HD/range gun more so than the shield because if the size/capacity. I do appreciate the feedback though.

  3. Look in the marketplace pk 90 has them for sale.

Sweet! so that makes me feel better about my full size but I still wonder if its still worth the move to the 9c tho. From what i've read the trigger on the 9c has been vastly improved post may 2013 in comparison to the triggers beforehand (like I have) AND it is more concealable should I decide to try and get my out of state CCW in the future.

  4. So I have a new permit on the way which I was planning to use on a 357 revolver to expand my caliber variety but then I started thinking.

I always wanted a compact 9 and I am annoyed with the fact that my full size m&p 9 is stuck wwith 10 round mags (thanks nj) and I could sell my fs and buy the compact which would allow me to use 12 rd mags and if I ever left nj it still co u of fit the 17 rd full size mags.

So what do you guys think? Is it worth selling the fs for the 9c or am I just over thinking myself out of buying the 357?

  5. On a side note ... I was looking at the spitfire Prism 3x video last night and i might want to see how people like that before making myy mind up, it has ta 3x magnifier built into the sight so thats a real bargain price of the piece is high as high quality as it looks like it will be.

  6. I have a viper pst 4-16x 50 and i love it. Customer service and life time unconditional warranty was also a factor in my decision to go with Vortex . You really have nothing to lose

with a warranty like that ,unless of course you just don't like the product. I dont have $2500 for a nightforce and i'm quite happy with my vortex

Exactly, if I had the 1000+ to spend on and aimpoint and magnifier we wouldnt be having this discussion, the Vortex looks like the best bargain.

  7. Speaking of the warranty. I have a small issue with one of the wire tethers for the windage caps as mine keeps popping off because the wire loop is too big.

I shot a quick email to customer service asking if there was a fix I could perform myself to tighten the loop. I got a response in less than 12 hours saying that they'll immediately send a fedex return shipping label and that they'll send me another brand new one as soon as the label tracking # is activated with my drop-off.

That is excellent customer service... On par with Springfield Armory

Vortex definitely has me a customer for a very long time

Thats awesome, some people might think its not good to fa tor a warranty into a purchase but I always factor it in personally.
