Yes. You can try with copper wire and it will bend as you push.i didn't bend the L that long but I'll try now. Should it be able to go straight through?

Can you see the end of the paper clip through the barrel?I bend it at a L just long enough that it would go past the block and into the barrel and insert it into the hole at the bottom of the block. It clears both holes

How's that paper clip method that you are using to check alignment?

Those marks in the deflector are normal. Triple check the alignment on the gas block. What kind of buffer and spring are you using? What's the length of your stock? Rifle or carbine? If using rifle lenght make sure you are not using a carbine spring.

What kind of gas block do you have? It is an adjustable gas? Factory ammo?

How about NJ? If I get pulled over for a traffic violation on way to range. My pistols are in the trunk with my docs...Amo is in trunk in seperate box...But he sees my steel targets and stands in the passangers compartment...So he asks like they often do "where you going"...I would say the range...What if he wants me to pop the trunk. Legally do I have to follow his instructions?
If I get asked where I'm going I always answer with the name of the town the range is locatedand no more specifics.

What are some of the recipes you've tried? I have a grendel and can't wait to compare the two.
I load 125gr with H110 and those fly about 2240fps and 175gr with N110 clocking 1700fps. I will send you a pm tomorrow with all the details of the loads.

I feel right at home here. It feels very similar to being on any of the Marine Corps boards - except for the constant bickering.... and the creative use of curse words and highly un-pc insults... and the notorious barely-there bikini pics..... and the endless rounds of forum suspensions.
