It looks like this forum on krak256's firearms inheritance question applies to my personal situation. My father passed away last September down in Florida with no will and no spouse. I wrapped up all the loose ends, packed up his stuff, and closed out his apartment per his final wishes. He told me "what's mine is yours"--including his CZ 75 P-01 9mm--before he slipped into unconsciousness. Thanks for all the great posts!
