  1. You're right, the wording is vauge. It wasn't until I filed my appeal that I got to see what they saw when the prosecutor sent the paperwork to my lawyer. That was when I discovered that a simple Article 15(my first and only in 23 years of service) the i got just before I retired from the Army had been misreported(for lack of a better word) and morphed into me being John Dillinger.
  2. I hope this disaster is almost over. its holding up my progress, lol. when its all cleared up, i'm going to be looking for 2 10/22's, 2 AR's, 2 revolvers and maybe a .308. i dont think thats too much to ask for.
  3. Update to this mess of a situation. After almost 8 months of CID looking into my "supposed" plea of guilty to 2 felonies and the person who filled out the forms incorrectly fighting me all the way, the correct info has been put into the system. Running my own background check on myself to make sure that it was done correctly. Next step, my lawyer working with the superior court prosecutor to hopefully put an end to the year long struggle to get my FID address changed.
  4. Not Linwood or NJ messing up this time. Turns out the info that the Det was looking at was in fact me. I got an Article 15 several months before I retired from the Army early this year. By some twist of fate and extremely bad luck, what should have been a small thing was reported as me pleading guilty to not 1 but 2 violent felonies!!! Yet, not spending 1 second in jail?!?!? My former 1SG is trying to work with CID to figure out how it happened and how to get it rectified. While I have ALOT of faith in my former 1SG, I have come to realize that this is a bigger situation than I am able to handle without a lawyer. Can anyone recommend someone in Atlantic County.
  5. Appeal request letter dropped off and stamped at the courthouse. Found it interesting that the lady that took the letter told me "we have piles of appeals". Thanks going out to Anselmo for the template. It was great and made the whole thing go smoothly.
  6. Sorry for the delay. Things are taking longer than I thought. To keep from typing the entire story I'll cut to the chase. I'm heading to court to appeal this. I will update the particulars later but I dont see this being a problem. A pain in the butt, yes.
  7. Quick update. Just got off the phone with the Det. Apparently the report came back that I have an arrest in Virginia. I explained to him that I have no arrest record at all, let alone in Va. He's looking into it and I am calling him back in a few hours
  8. I'm really hoping that one meeting with the Chief or the Det. can resolve this although i'm not feeling good about it. I don't think this town is the type to admit a mistake easily.
  9. No history of anything at all, ever. I havent the slightest idea where they came up with a history of a violent crime.
  10. Waited 40 days for my new towns PD to process my change of address. Just got a letter today saying it is denied because "You have a criminal history of a Violent Crime". WTF?!?!? I've never even seen the inside of a cop car. I just retired after 22 years in the Army. I think i'm going to need some suggestions from the forum on how to handle this. I just opened the letter and called the Chief as well as the Det. that handles firearms paperwork, both are gone for the day. I will be calling again on Monday.
  11. LOL, I resemble that remark. still mad I'm not gonna be able to pull it off
  12. Got a call yesterday that the NICS check was back on a handgun i'm buying. I'd rather not post here in the open but I think I may have made a BIG mistake and now i'm not sure I should go pick up the gun. The check came back positive but I have reason to believe that I went about the process mistakenly in the wrong way and still got "approved". Any experts on laws regarding the FID and city of residency? Please PM me so I can explain my situation and go from there
  13. LOL, we watch Lock Up every weekend. I just told her the other day that there was a good chance I would see her on there so we should forget the whole idea. Thanks for the info
  14. lol, this whole thing is a little more than i bargained for and the thought of my wife getting jammed up over there leads me to just forget the whole idea. oh well, seemed like a great way to get 3 SKS's but now i'm not liking the whole plan. Thanks everyone for the input and help
